Most Pointless Episode

Poke Master 7

Title says it all. Here you post what you think was the most pointless episode of Pokemon thus far. Heres mine:

The Bicker The Better: this to me had to be the lamest plot of any Pokemon episode I have ever seen. They just randomly go into the childish plot of who is better boys or girls. Also there is really no character developement that would even be seen later on in the series. It would have been a total waist of time for me if not for the introduction of Tag Battles in it.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
The Bicker, the Better was one of the best episodes in the series. The dialouge, the battles, the humour, etc. was top notch. And as for no character development? Bwuh? The whole episode was made to strengthen the friendship between Ash and May, not to mention they had their first Tag Battle with and against each other.

If you honestly think that's the most pointless episode, you've missed about 50% of the series. I always wonder why people hate fantastic episodes, it is truly mind boggling.

Ya. I thought that episode was really funny. They just showed it today on CN too. :p

That one in the Advanced Challenge arc was only topped in terms of humor by that one episode where they went to that "North Petalburg" place, and all those people were obsessed with Norman.

The most pointless episode was probably one in Johto when they were introducing some stupid Pokemon no one cares about like Ledyba or Sunkern or something. =/

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
The worst Hoenn episode for me would have to be "Cheer Pressure."

The episode served no other purpose than to shove Plusle and Minun down our throats, AGAIN, and they just had a filler about 20 episodes before. Yeesh.

And the early Battle Frontier episode with the giant Butterfee was pretty pointless as well.

the most pointless episode EVER was back when Ash was still trying to get the kanto badges:

I forgot the episode title, but basically ash, misty, and brock had to pass through this ghost town to get to the next town... in this ghost town were two opposing forces... electabuzz supporters and scyther supporters... basically the two opposing side kept fighting, and ash & co used ketchup to solve the problem...

Im pretty sure no one remembers that episode... when I find the title for it, i'll let you know

this Jotho filler has to be the most pointless episode ever created.

I remember that episode. o.o It was kinda pointless, but it was kinda funny too because Pikachu got so broken up over the ketchup bottle getting sliced by that Scyther. :p

I agree with Cheer Pressure being pointless. Plusle and Minun have already been introduced, and so has the Helping Hand move, so it was really just there to take up time.

In addition to the aforementioned Johto fillers, I found a lot of Hoenn episodes to be quite pointless, but others would disagree so I'll not say a thing. I can't remember half of them, anyway^^

One ep that always sticks out in my mind as being utterly pointless is "A Way Off Day Off", a filler with absolutely nothing to say for itself. The plot, and I honestly feel it's a stretch using that term, was Team Twerp came upon a fruit-filled an island and decided to take the day off, doing nothing but them eating fruit and then hunkering down for a nap, predictably followed by Team Rocket trying to steal the pokémon¬.¬

Basically, a pointless filler in every sense of the words.

Yea i guess that The Bicker The Better wasn't the most pointless but it just bored me I guess thats it. But yea the giant Butterfree episode was really pointless and the same goes with cheer preasure.

I remember Meowth Rules from the Orange Islands was a weird one. A made up slightly pointless, lame story involving Meowth without any of the main characters involved. Had no real purpose to the development of the Orange Islands, no new pokémon or anything. We got to see how Meowth's pay day couldn't work, and erm that was it really.

Another pointless episode was the one about the surfing guy named "Victor" and his Surfing Pikachu named "Pooka" who wanted to ride a giant wave called "Humunga Dunga." :p I like that episode because it's just so weird and stupid though. lol

I think the most pointless ep ever was that one with the knickerbocker guy.....that was retarded...."In the Knicker of Time" I think it's called o_O

The most pointless episodes are the ones when they meet someone with a pokemon the group has already seen and a little problem they need help with. Then Team Rocket makes things worse followed by them being blasted off. Nothing cool happens like Ash catching a new pokemon, evolving his pokemon, a new attack being learned, or a good battle that actually makes Ash's pokemon stronger instead of Team Rocket.

Half the eps are like that XD

Team Rocket character development ran rampant throughout that episode, so that is reason enough for it to not be plonked into the dreaded 'Pointless Box'.

'Whichever Way the Wind Blows' gets my vote.
Personally, I'm amazed that they were unable to make an episode about giant flowers and hula girls beating the absolute pollen out of each other interesting.

Really? In what way? I haven't seen the episode in quite a while so I might be wrong but the only worthy comment concerning character development I remember was Meowth saying he used up all his experiance in learning how to talk. From then on it was all about learning moral lessons, which in the long run Team Rocket obviously didn't learn from anyway.

The Pudgey Pidgey isle espisode. Although it was funny, it sticks with me as the most pointless and filler-esque episode in the series. I can name some others, but that one just came to my mind right now.

The most pointless episode in my opinion is Xatu the Future. If you want an episode where absolutely nothing happens, this is it. Other than the fact Delibird appeared again, this episode was a complete waste of animation. A Tyrogue Full of Trouble is up there, too.

actually, Rocket Dan are arguably the most developed characters in the series. Sure, they never seem to change their ways, but they show time and time again that they're actually good people who just want to impress their boss and raise their ranks (though now and then, they'll have a streak where they're selfish for personal gain, especially Musashi). Plus, they have an extremely close bond with eachother, something which several of their characterization episodes seem to focus on. And hey, if characterization's not a good enough reason to watch a Rocket episode, the comedy more often than not is, given their role in the show. Also, on this note, shame on anyone who keeps saying "Fly Me to the Moon" was horrible. Honestly, Nyaasu made that one of the better Jouto fillers.

nah, they served their purpose: they introduced a Pokemon that wasn't featured in the anime previously. Now, the examples people are mentioning, particularly "Whichever Way the Wind Blows", is extremely pointless in that absolutely nothing happens, it's dull as hell, Satoshi's barely even involved (sans Bayleaf breaking up the two sides) let alone getting any sort of characterization, and it features Pokemon that got their fair share of appearances before.

Oh yeah, if it wasn't for a certain evolution taking place, I'd have to say "Outrageous Fortunes" was pretty crap. God, how many times do they have to make Nyorobon look bad (Kasumi already pitted Nyorozo against one earlier in Jouto)? 'Course, some people would say the episode would be better off not existing anyway, since they seem to hate what Nyorozo's become (and I personally can't blame them).
