What is the most commonly used pokemon in a line-up? Why is it used so often?

I see Metagross a lot, because of it's pwnsome attack. I also see Skarmory and Blissey, as well as Snorlax, all used for defensive purposes. The dragon-looking pokemon are popular because they look cool (Flygon, Salamence, Dragonite, Rayquaza)
And of course ALL of the legendaries because they require no skill whatsoever to use.

On NetBattle the most common two are Skarmory and Blissey, probably Blissey a bit more than Skarmory. For ingame teams, it's usually the starters, mainly the fire ones.

Polls please. Apart from the ones mentioned, Heracross is both popular ingame, and on NetBattle.

Oh, and Legendaries DO require skill to be used correctly, even ubers (namely Lugia as a tank).

Meh, Heracross isn't as common anymore, and I haven't seen many uber users on NetBattle lately, compared to before. Well, on the Smogon server, at least.

Suicune, Ninjask and Jolteon are also very common on NetBattle, though probably not as used as Skarm and Bliss.

Well, used or not, Heracross is THE most popular Pokemon of both types... except maybe Blaziken for Fighting.

Well in my case it's Sneasel because i'm obsessed with the Sharp Claw and have an army on Emerald.

The Pokemon I see most competitively/in-game are Blissey, Lugia, Mewtwo Suicune, Salamence, Metagross, Tyranitar... and Charizard. Generally the Pokemon that are considered over-used/uber.

No, just because of his dark image. That's Umbreon's main appeal, and certainly a reason why I like him (and that he looks cute and sinister at the same time, and is a Johto Pokemon).

Plus the fact that all Eeveelutions are overrated. Is there an Eeveelution that DOESN'T have hundreds of fans?

Flareon. The one who's overlooked, and is my second favourite Eeveelution.

The other Eeveelutions are also kind of popular.

Most people I know with the game, just can't resist using the legendary Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza. Mainly Rayquaza and it annoys me to death!
But I can't really talk, I love my Groudon. But I ain't going to over use it.... I hope.

For me the same I just can't stand it when people just have to use their favorite pokemon all the time, especially legendaries.

Flareon's not overrated, and it's the only one. Glad, too, because it's the one I like most =D

Snorlax, probably. This monster can do so much with its huge movepool and bulky Stats. Hardly anyone doesn't use a Snorlax anymore, and for good reason. It's horribly hard to defeat. It has a great movepool, an amazing Attack to back that up, awesome HP and Special Defense, decent Special Attack(for Skarmory and other annoyances), an immunity, good Abilities, and one weakness. About the only places Snorlax suffers in are Speed and Defense. And even then, it doesn't need Speed. Defense is no matter, as Snorlax learns Curse, which means, along with making it all the more deadly, it also becomes terribly hard to defeat on either side of the Offensive Spectrum.

I fail to see why people complain about Blissey when Snorlax is the zenith of power and the king of Staples, tbh =/ Hardly anyone even uses Blissey anymore, anyhow. I do, but I'm an idiot like that D=

I ALWAYS keep my lv 100 sceptile on my team for 3 reasons
1: She was my first pokemon on sapphire
2: She has awsome moves
3: She is a girl duh!
But i mostly only keep her for backup. Like when my other pokemon faint.
And thats only my emerald game...
