Figured this deserved it's own thread because it's in regards to ALPHA information.

So, I was doing a search of beta Pokemon's names (Happa, Honooguma , Kurusu, etc) and found a first-hand description of the Pokémon G/S demo from Nintendo Spaceworld 1997 (first public showing of the games)

I used Google & Babblefish Translate for now to get some info out of it. Seems to me that there was a demo of the game & it started after the Oak intro with the player already having some pokemon. Looks like the 3 lost starters were actually programmed into this demo. You fought some battles & the demo ended. Seems a bit like the Ruby/Sapphire Pokemon Festa demo.

Then some kind of demo reel that showed other new pokemon names was showed. It has old (beta) town names/ beta pokemon names & other game features that aren't made entirely clear from the automatic translation. Might try and email the guy to see if he has any pics/videos from it.

Edit:
Found some more info about the demo

These new sites even have the Pokédex numbers for the lost starters

Mmm, fascinating. Shame I can't understand japanese, as these translations are at best a half-guess at to what the words mean. I wonder if I couldn't interest anyone I know who understands japanese to give better translations; some of those translations are just lol.

Next I'm making up attacks for a character or whatever, I've totally gotta use TOGETA BEAM XP

Found 4 other first-hand accounts from the Spaceworld 1997 Demo. Trying to bug one of my friends to translate some of the info. Putting together a website with all the info I find

Are Happa, Honoguma, and them actually REAL?

I've never seen a specific source provided for them ever, and none of the other demos for the games ever included Pokemon that didn't make it into the final product. The only pictures we have of them being extremely fuzzy crayon-looking drawings doesn't help either.

Personally I think they were just fakes that were spread in the GS days, before people knew what to expect with new gens, and ended up being remembered as authentic prototypes.

Great work, well done! This information needs to be preserved, and because Yahoo! are deleting all Geocities data soon, you better create a mirror/backup of these pages on your site. The closure of Geocities means that anymore information like this that exists out there may be lost :,(

I recall a lot of this information, especially the reveals of Slowking, Ampharos, Ho-Oh, and Donphan. Interesting stuff, to say the least.
