Moves that don't seem to suit the pokemon

I think it's really interesting that there are loads of moves that just don't seem to suit the pokemon. For example, on leaf green and fire red, nidoran male and togepi learn peck! Why? It's because the japanese for the move peck actually means 'poke with a sharp object'. This could mean a beak, or in nidoran's case a horn, and in togepi's case the spiky bits on its head! Bet you didn't know that! If you've got any queries about moves that don't seem to suit the pokemon i'd be happy to answer them, but i don't know all the answers so don't be surprised if i can't answer your question.

Hey, I told you that...
The majority of moves that don't seem to suit the Pokemon can be traced back to changes in the translations from the Japanese versions.
One thing that still bugs me is the number of Pokemon that get tail whip despite the fact they don't have a tail. They should use leer for that...

Which pokemon are you talking about? Most pokemon that know tail whip have a tail in some form or another, even if it's tiny and hardly recognisable as a tail.

Hmmm, looking at it now, I guess it's just Rhyhorn (and possibly Snubbull though I have a feeling it has a little round tail) that my post applies to. Oops. Still, I always thought of Tail Whip as the "cutesy" defence lowering move while leer is the tough one. For that reason, I think pokemon like Rhyhorn, Cubone* and Kangaskhan* would be better suited with leer. Mankey has a huge tail but it has leer. Same applies for Ekans. It's a petty thing to change, I know, but I personally think it would be better suited.

*I've just realised these pokemon have both tail whip and leer......

Isn't it cute ^^
How about vice versa, I think a lot of pokemoon can learn moves they don't. Like growl, every pokemon can growl right?

and how about TM's a lot of pokemon can learn TM's wich I think they don't can learn take Overheat, I was suprised to see that not only fire types can learn it, but also my Primeape. got an answer for that one?

Gyarados should know Crunch in place of Bite, because Crunch is more powerful. Milotic should know Hyper Beam in place of Water Sport, as should Latias.

I find there are many cases like that but in gameplay terms, Pokemon do need access to a variety of moves of different types, which is why Primeape and many others will get Overheat.

In a physical sense, maybe Primeape gets Overheat because it gets so hot doing all its fighting exercise when training ;) Just an idea.

Aerialace is like a fast slash of sharpened air. Absol uses it's sycthe to attack with aerial ace.

I personaly do'nt like mew being able to use every tm. That kind of abilty would be better sorted to some kind of shapeshifting pokemon like ditto

mew learning every tm/hm seriously doesnt make sense. How is it supposed to learn strength, or earthquake?
