Moves that look good on the show/manga, but suck in the games

Lets see...

When Gyarados used Dragon Rage on that SS anne episode. It looked like the most Horrid thing to be hit by. But in the game it only does 40 damage.

Ive been amazed at the power of Pikachus thundershock. It killed off the whole pokemon center. In the episode when team rocket first appeared.

Fire Spin is an awesome example. Remember when Vulpix used it. Big tornado of fire!!!! In-Game, oponent trap, 15 base power. Really sucks...

Caterpies string shot??? It In-tombed people. But in the game it lowers speed.

One more thing. Vine Whip, Water Gun and Tackle. Bulbasaur and Chikorita kick butt with it. But it sucks in the game 35 base power, with 10 PP??? Water Gun looks like a freakin hydro pump, when squirtle, totodile and many other pokemon use it.

Then there is tackle. It looks like a body slam, the way it damages people. Very strange.

Hyper Beam in the show Dragonite used it repeatedly. But in the games you must recharge after each shot. ;025;

Isn't Hidden Power one of the most useless moves in the games?

Actually it is one of the best moves in the games. Giving a pokemon any type of attack with 70 damage that it can never learn is excellent in my book (example Hidden Power Bug on Dugtrio). On the show it is just a bunch of spheres though. Hmm the anime looks almost every move look good, even the weakest of attacks like bubble....yeah.

Far from it, actually. Especially useful for pokémon that can't obtain decent moves that benefit from the ol' 'Same Type Attack Bonus'.
Edit: But yeah, Rancid Meat had to be a total meanie and beat me to it with a better explanation :(

Quick Attack is pretty brutal in the show. I know that, in the game, there are apparantly some exceptions regarding Quick Attack's strength and usefulness, but in the show is portrayed to be a infinately useful move to use both offensively and defensively.

And then we have attacks such as Dig, which can be used to catch the opponent off-guard and avoid attacks, as well as still being able to hit airborne foes. While in the game, it's considered to be completely pointless due to being able to switch out to a flyer or a pokémon with levitate.

as said before, it's one of the most useful moves in the game, except that it's so difficult to get a good one that it might as well be useless in game packs games

Bubble is the very first move that comes to mind when I think of overpowered.

Thank you, SPPf! :)

Also Hyper Beam in the anime seems to portrayed as one of the most powerful moves there is, yet in the game to me it seems weak.

And what about Rapid Spin? In the games it barely does any sort of damage while the anime portrays it as a fairly high-powered spinning tackle and can even be used in a defensive manner (like Gary's Blastoise).

Or Misty's staryu. That thing span like a top! Bubblebeam looks powerful, but in-game, doesn't seem to do enough damage, including bullet seed too. And aurora beam looked deadly too. Twister looks a lot more powerful in the anime, along with swift, water gun, fire spin, thunder wave (absorbed other electric attacks), spike cannon, and many others.

Nobody mentioned Tackle yet?

Hee!

I did...first post

Anybody seen night shade in the Manga, when Gengar uses it. Its like some ultra sonic wave that screws with your brain. But in-game it just does the same damage as your level. Night shade sucks unless you are at level 100.

Clearly we're great!
I say String Shot is the most exaggerated move. I mean, look at the end of movie 4.

Double-slap. When May's Skitty faced the Phantom' Dusclops and used it Double-slap took half of his points away. ;025;

I would have to say water gun because on the show its like a jet but in the game, its like a ball floating to your opponent and three drops fall. Total dissapointment.
