Moveset for Dragonite Ingame

T

The End

Guest
I just recently got a Dratini via trade for Emerald. In FireRed I use

Brick Break
Surf
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt

but because I don't have Brick Break, as I already used the TM up, do you think I should use this?

Dragon Claw
Flamethrower
Thunderbolt
Surf

I tend to use Dragonite as a special sweeper *is that the correct term* for Battle Frontier, and as a main party.

Do you guys have any other recommendations? Don't forget this is for ingame, EVs, natures won't be required *but feel free to put them in for others that are interested in raising Dragonites*

The second one is better, but could I recomend that you fnd Dragonbreathe? It is a VERY powerful move on all types.

I raised a Dragonite on my old file...HIs moveset was:

Dragonbreathe
Dragonclaw
Outrage
Shockwave

These are all COOL types moves and they are also a very good moveset for battle...Try it out if you like...

mod edit: stop double posting

I was thinking about Dragonbreath, but I don't think he can learn it, which was why I suggested Dragon claw.

I got it up to Level 30 at the moment, once its at 40, Elite Four will raise it up to 60 in no time at all.

Hmm...Now that I think about it, Tikus (my dragonite) only learned it becuase I didn't evolve Dragonair until level 50, then I used a heartscale and it was there...He might learn it like right when he evolves...

Well, if you do end up getting it, then you might consider putting him foward to contest...That moveset I was talking about blows them away in COOL CONTEST. Just saying...

Dragonair evolves to Dragonite at 55, not level 50, and do you have to double post? There is an edit button....

And Dragonite only learn Dragon Claw form TM or as an Egg Move. They learn Dragonbreath as a dratini don't they>?

Praetor

Psephophthalmus artu
well
Dragonite@Lum Berry
Flamethrower
Thunderbolt
Surf
Outrage(more base power than dragon claw)

Outrage is a good attack because it has the strongest base power of any dragon move and he can get STAB, it may confuse dragonite at the end but if he has something like Lum Berry u'll be fine.

P.S. Todd the edit button wasnt invented just for kicks, double posting is against the rules.

I don't see subsitute and Focus Punch work, although its a good combination.

I'm gonna stick with

Outrage
Flamethrower
Surf
Thunderbolt

Starmie has Ice Beam, and Outrage is very strong against other Dragon Pokemon.

nah Flameclaw gets more power but Boltbeam gets more Supereffectives
so you can actually finish weak waters, Zapdos and Gyrados who lol at Dragonclaw but this Ingame set is gold cause Brickbreak is **** and doesn't hurt lax and bliss enough..
Here is mine ingame Nite

Rash@Leftovers
-Thunderwave
-Focuspunch
-Icebeam
-Thunderbolt...

just stick with

Flamethrower
Outrage
Thunderbolt
Surf

Flamethrower - covers weakness to ice

Outrage - covers weakness to dragon

Thunderbolt - a lot of ice types are also part water, so if flamethrower does'nt work use this

surf - a powerful attack thats VERY handy in tag battles

Outrage is the worst dragon type move in the game, beating Dragon Rage and Twister. You don't see anyone using Thrash or Petal Dance, do you? That's because they aren't worth it. Flamethrower won't cover any weakness to Ice because the only Ice types that are actually weak against fire are either:

Too damn fast for Dragonite to even do anything (Jynx)
Are legendaries with a crapload of special defense, so they laugh at it (Regice, Articuno)
Suck and no one would use, but will still be able to take an unSTAB'ed Flamethrower and Ice Beam it to hell (Glailie)

And the others either take nuetral damage or are resistant to it, and those are just the Ice types, and not the Water, Ground, etc. types that can Ice Beam it anyway.

P.S. Surf is crap in double battles, but I can argue that double battles are worthless, but won't get into that.

use your imagination. combine outrage with a lum/persim berry.

you clearly haven't heard of pokemon natures or EV (ok, so many have never heard of EV) but if a dragonite has a hasty nature and an EV of 252 in speed then it CAN be a billion times faster than anythin'.

and if you think double battles are worthless then you can't be too good at them. no offence.

Here's what I'd suggest:

Adamant Nature, Leichi berry/Leftovers
EV's: 252 Attack, 200 HP, 52 Defense/Sp.Def

Fly/Aerial Ace
Earthquake
Brick Break/Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance

For this moveset, you have a lot of Hp and atk, so dragon dance then sweep. You could have a leichic berry for more power, or leftovers for more staying power. Fly/Aerial Ace gain STAB, Earthquake wipes out it's rock weakness and steel types such as Metagross or Registeel, and the last move is up to you. With and adamant nature, Dragon Claw won't do much damage but you could put some EVs into Sp. Atk. Brick break will take care of every Ice type but Jynx. (Considering Jynx is faster than Dragonite, that's okay.)

Why waste a berry on such a crappy move? That's worse than Chesto Berry on a pokemon with Rest, since at least with Rest, you'd have a healed pokemon. Here's another counterpoint to Outrage: You're stuck with it until it's done, and it's even stupider in double battles.
you clearly haven't heard of pokemon natures or EV (ok, so many have never heard of EV) but if a dragonite has a hasty nature and an EV of 252 in speed then it CAN be a billion times faster than anythin'.
289 isn't that great(the max with speed nature max stats, max EVs), Glailie ties with it, Articuno and Jynx can beat it, and you'd have to sacrifice points that would be better in another stat to even get that.
and if you think double battles are worthless then you can't be too good at them. no offence.
All you see in most Double Battles are 5 pokemon with Explosion and a Gengar/Dusclops. They're a gimmick until they fix it up more. The only good part about it is that Blissey is worthless there.
