Moveset for Gengar and Lapras - Firered

Which move provides a quicker kill? Will-o-wisp or Toxic?

This is the moveset I am thinking of making:
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Ice punch
- Will-o-wisp/Toxic

Is this ok? I want my Gengar to be perfect before I start training him to level 100.

Also, what moveset should I use for Lapras?
Many thanks.

The effectiveness of both Toxic and will-o-wisp depends on the situation. Will-o-Wisp causes a KO slower than Toxic but lowers oponents attack. Toxic kills quicker and can also be used effectivly with confuse ray.

Gengar @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Modest Nature
- Fire Punch
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Punch
- Giga Drain

Special Sweeper.

Lapras @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Sing
- Surf

Frost Nova

The predator awaits.
Will-o-Wisp and Destiny Bond are also options for Gengar. WoW allows Gengar to live longer and Destiny Bond, well, he's certainly fast enough to pull it off. Giga Drain and Psychic aren't really that useful compared with T-Bolt and the elemental punches, but if you're afraid of Swampert, go ahead and use it.

Personally I like Will-o-Wisp better. Toxic only takes away health, WoW cripples physical sweepers in addition to causing secondary damage. Confuse Ray isn't an option for Gengar since he's a bit too frail to use it.

Gengar@lefties / Lum Berry
Timid Nature
- WoW / Destiny Bond
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- T-Bolt

Lapras@lefties
Modest Nature
- Surf
- T-Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Rest

I find Rest more useful on Lapras.

I wasn't suggesting confuse ray on Gengar I was saying that Toxic can be used with but will-o-wisp can't because it lowers the damage done by it because they have lower attack.

Frost Nova

The predator awaits.
I didn't say you did.

Use Modest if you want power, Timid if you want to outspeed more opponents.

McGar also works

Gengar @ Leftovers
Hasty Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

How about sleep talking lapras

Lapras
Modest
-T-bolt
-Ice Beam
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

Lapras doesn't need the defense ingame.

McIceGar sucks ingame imo. There is no "SkarmBliss" to counter, and you are better off using its high Special Attack and movepool. Not to mention, you waste a Substitute and Focus Punch...
