movie piracy

Meh, Me+Backwater Country = no good movies in theaters and only on DVDs in a few years after they're released, if at all. >.> I'm bitter about that and so I watch pirated copies. :p

Still, I get mine from the friendly local movie maniac so I know everything he has is quality stuff. XD Come to think of it, around 90% of his stuff are HDDVDs so the quality is FLAWLESS.

Apart from that, I ADORE going to the movies so, if a good film DOES make it here, I will pay to go and watch it and I'll do so gladly. ^^

my mom is one of those people that sometimes prefer to buy that stolen stuff, she pays the same price for them as a movieticket. she sais it's cheaper but the quality is worth to cry for. ice age 2 got jammed at multiple moments during the movie, scarie movie 3 had poor sound, james bond casino royale was bad with both sound and moviequality, and madagascar sometimes had people walking in front of it.

these are things that make me angry. it takes away the fun.

The ones I buy are one dollar and fifty cents. Most of the time, they are pretty good quality, blurry, but good. So, I'm fine with them. But I want the full HQ. :D

You would think that you would go for the dvd rips or something as they would have to be decent quality.
As I have a couple that were given to me from my friends uncle and they were decent to watch like watching a dvd. If albeit a tad small on the widescreen

Yeah, I typically go for DVD rips. I hardly ever go for movies that have just come out.

People who buy pirated movies/music/whatever easily-acquired form of entertainment are really foolish.

Ah piracy..where would I be without it? I'm no fan of movie theatres and well the wait for the DVD is too long. So I just go for the next best thing. I don't care about quality, as long as the voices are in sync then I'm happy.

insert joke so dated I don't even remember it
Do I have the scratch to see every movie I want? Of course not. I'll go to the movies most of the time though.

Also, OP is an idiot.

Well almost all the movies my dad owns are pirated and they are actually high quality except that X-Men origins where they didn't even finish the special effects.

I know, the X Men was hilarious. After i watched it i was so confused and probably a month later, i heard they were releasing it on theatres!

Pirating is so easy, here in Bangladesh, pretty much everything is pirated. DVDs, Music CDs, Games, Consoles etc. But pirated dvds have sucky quality. Takes a while for it to come out in 'masterprint'.

okay whatever, you're right and i'm wrong. i'm still sitting at home watching a movie i didn't have to pay for, and you can go buy your movies at wal mart or blockbuster or wherever the hell you go to get movies these days.
Actually if I wait a while I bet I can get a movie for the price of a movie ticket or so. I'm patient so I just do that. I'd rather have it in high quality and legally. It's fine if you're too cheap to pay but thats nothing to boast about.
Internet badassery yo. Really though trying to sound like it's alright to do it just because everyone does it is just as silly. It makes me realize how easily people can be used.

yeah it's not like i set that up by actually pointing how inept and ignorant his post was

OT, I believe piracy is a serious problem, but not as bad the government makes it out to be. $50000 and a jail term seems a tad harsh, provided they aren't trying to sell it.
Uh, you are aware of the role private entities play in those absurd punishments, right?

It's the self-entitlement tools that are a part of the Internet generation. Granted, there should be steps taken to provide better services (that isn't infested with DRM ****), but those that never give back are the ones that have no business to involve themselves in the process.

It sorta kills the awesomeness...pirated ones usually have MUCH LOWER quality...and it kills the thrill of seeing it in the theatres...

Yea, I wouldn't mind seeing a pirated movie, but I do not like the idea of making and selling it; it's a serious crime...could get sued BIG TIME
You guys must get very crappy versions then if they're such bad quality. Normal DVD5 or DVD9 straight rips are the only ones I look at.

I have no problem with piracy - as long as the quality is good. The only real victims of piracy are big faceless corparations who stand to make millions of dollars regardless of how many people rip-off their movies.

Legality doesn't bother me, especially for things like song files. These things can be so easily reproduced that they seem over priced, and while the message is that the artists are suffering because it I find it hard to sympathize with them in their mansions. I do support new artists or local artists by buying their albums and occasionally (very occasionally) a tshirt. I even buy the physical copies of albums I really like simply because it feels more special too me, even though I know they'll probably get scratched or lost. Srsly, if I download a song it probably because I dont care about it enough to have bought it, so the artist isn't at a loss.

As for DVDs, I used to get illegal copies when my dads friends would lend him a stack of them. The quality of anything except DVD rips isn't so good and so I never personally fet it was worth it. I'm a big cinema fan really, I like getting the full experience of enjoying a movie.

Darn, looks like us piracy peeps won't be able to fully enjoy District 9 seeing as the subtitles are in a different language. Unless there's more than one source availiable at the moment.

the message is that the artists are suffering because it I find it hard to sympathize with them in their mansions.

Most musicians aren't that rich. Not all of them sell millions of records and thus don't make the same kind of money as the ones that do. Just because your band puts out a record doesn't mean that you're going to be a millionare. Just thought id' clear that misconception some people seem to have.
