The Admiral
the star of the masquerade
We all probably know the card Clone pretty well -- the blue four-drop that comes into play as a copy of a creature. Of course, if there's no other creature in play, it's useless. Surely it could be a little better, right? Especially with spells that create copies of creatures for less?
Well...
Vesuvan Formthief 3UU
Creature - Shapeshifter (R)
You may have Vesuvan Formthief enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield.
U: Return Vesuvan Formthief to its owner’s hand.
Cycling 3U
When you cycle Vesuvan Formthief, put a 1/1 blue Shapeshifter token onto the battlefield with “You may have this creature enter the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield, except it’s still 1/1.”
2/2
(alternate version: remove Cycling and trigger, reduce cost to 3U)
Basically, this can be used as an emergency generic 2/2, then bounced and re-played when a worthwhile creature comes out.
I don't know how good this actually is, though. Anyone want to weigh in?
