here's the deal, when my Gengar was fighting a Linoone in route 119, Linoone used Mud sport, then i use sludge bomb, but the Linoone still has HP, then the Linoone uses Headbutt,a Normal type move, and it was able to hit my Gengar, a Ghost-Poison type, does Mud sport give you the ground type?

also, a Solrock uses Psywave on Gengar and it does regular damage, then when i go to another trainer, the trainer uses Psychic and its Super effective, is there something wrong?

You will be missed:(
1.Did Linoone use foresight on your Gengar at anytime during the battle.

2.Can't explain it.

Back I guess??
1) I´m sure that this linoone used odor sleuth before! odor sleuth and foresight when used in ghost pokémon it negates the normal and fighting imunity. Mud sprot just halves electric attacks when the user is in battle.

2) Psywave does a variable damage, I works like seismictoss and nightshade, but it doesn´t do a determinated damage. I think that it varies from 20 to 40 HP. Psychic BTW has a determinated base damage, that´s 95

I hope I helped (IHIH)

Psywave doesn't have a specific amount of damage that it deals; it's random. So, this means that no matter what it always does normal amounts of damage, never super or not very effective. Of course, on a Dark type it is still useless. Psychic has a defined base damage, so it can be SE or NVE.

The other one is just odd though, I have no idea about that one.

EDIT: Wow, three replies at almost the same time.

i think the damage that psywave does is anywhere from 1 damage to 1.5*user's level...

Mud Sport only weakens electric moves.
Psywave deals random damage based on level, so it can't do extra damage, but can be resisted. Psychic does not do that, and therefore is supereffective on Gengar.
EDIT: odor sleuth let's Normal, Fighting, and Ghost types hit each other, like foresight.

actually, i don't think that foresight lets ghost hits normal. just vice versa.

1. Did the Linoone use foresight/odor sleuth? If so it can hit your Gengar.
2. Psywave's base damge varies and Psychic is supereffective on your Gengar.

oooooooookkk.........

thanks for all the info, i used to think foresight and odor sleuth were just used to have a higher critical-hit ratio.

oddly my sableye that knows nightshade and foresight cannot hurt a normal pokemon using nightshade even if I use foresight.. yet in a battle a linoone use odour sleuth and then after it died the next pokemon was able to hit the sableye with a fighting move! which annoyed me. I thought foresight only worked for that pokemon not throughout the battle!
is there any move that will let a ghost hit a normal pokemon with ghost attacks?
