Multi platform RPG Games

When will it end all the time we get great game series such as Final Fantasy Series, Tales Series and Secret of Mana Series but all the time different games of the Saga are released on different consoles meaning no one can collect the full series unless they have all the consoles and people don't like buying one console just for getting a few games to complete the collection example Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 for PS2 and Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for GBA, Dawn of Mana for PS2 and Children of Mana for DS and finally Tales of Symphonia for Gamecube and Tales of Eternia for PSP. Why do companies do this? me and my friend are getting really annoyed with this and want to know when it will end and why can't the games just be released multi format it would be so much easier for everyone that way. If one system has a game that everyone wants, they'll buy that system for the game. The companies that make the systems also make contracts with the game developers to only make games for their system for a certain amount of time. This is why Resident Evil 4 was only on the Gamecube for a while.

Well, Shinin, Resident Evil 4 was meant to be a permanent exclusive to GC, but Sony fans whined. Eventually, Capcom caved in and said okay to a PS2 version with noticeably weaker graphics (I have both versions).

The games are released on different systems depending on what the team decides would be the best format for the game and the best console for the game (dependant on format, handheld or home console). This is often influenced by those in charge of the teams and their personal biases. The teams that work on different entries for each saga are often not the same, maybe sharing only a few members of the team from the previous game.

yeah i think they should make like FF12 come out on Wii Xbox 360 and PS3 just for everyone i hate it when it doesn't happen that way

It doesn't really bother me that much. Considering i have just about all of the video game consoles out so far.

same here i just don't want anything to do with sony anymore..so thats why i want all games to be release on multi platform

I never used to care about this-owning a PS2, Cube, GBA and DS. But I know what you mean. I am a huge Final Fantasy fan but it is unlikely I will ever get to play XIII as it lloks as if I will be unable to afford a PS3. In the choice between PS3 and a Wii, Nintendo wins so I will end up without certain titles in some game series I like-as I need to 'devote' myself to only one console and not two.
