Mrs. Magpie had recently fallen gravely ill. Having no family she asked all of her friends to come to her mansion so that she could write her Will. Only a few actually show up. It is among these friends that she will choose her heir/benefactor. They know that Magpie is fickle so they do their bests to please her and make their way into her Will. They spend the next couple weeks looking after her. That is except for a detective friend who has notified her that she is wrapping up a case.
One morning after a stormy night they awake to find that Mrs. Magpie has been stabbed to death. On the dark stormy night in question Mrs. Magpie decided to retire to bed early. The next morning she was found in the pantry by her maid who was going to get pancake mix. Her maid was so terrified that she screamed and fainted, she is still out cold. Because of the storm and the health conditions of Mrs. Magpie, no one would have heard her screams for help. The maid’s screams however were heard by all the guests who came running to the site of the murder.
Currently among her guests is her detective friend who helped her recover her dog napped Fifi a few years back. She is removed from suspicion on account that they arrive only moments after the body was discovered due to having been delayed at the airport. From examining the body the detective has determined that Mrs. Magpie died sometime during the early evening. She has notified the authorities, but due to their remote location it may take them as long as a day to arrive.
There were relatively few clues to be found at the scene, and everyone’s presence contaminated the scene. There is a knife still in the body; the detective has put a plastic bag over it to protect any fingerprints. The stab marks are irregular suggesting rage or weakness. The pantry is unearthly clean other than the body and a short trail of blood as if the body was move slightly after the murder. Did the killer rearrange the body, perhaps to plant evidence? The key Mrs. Magpie wore around her neck is missing. It opened the draw containing her will. She often tapped the key whenever she felt her guest had stepped out of line, as if to say careful or I’ll change my will on you. A white thread was found on the body, this however could have come from the maid’s apron. There were also water drops on Mrs. Magpie’s silk nightdress because they left spots. Perhaps she was outside? There is however no mud, which suggests she didn’t die outside.
The detective has therefore gathered everyone up in the parlor (The parlor is a cozy room full of comfy chairs and couches, there are also several knick-knacks and a large painting of the late Mr. & Mrs. Magpie.), so that she may question them to determine who the killer is. Once the killer is known they can be detained until the authorities arrive.
Who has killed poor old Magpie? And where is the Will?
