My Blue version does not show 'continue'

The internal battery might be dead.

I just bought a Blue at GameStop today. I got home to try it out, and you can save but not continue. Is there any way to fix this?
Unfortunately, I think that Red, Blue and Yellow Versions all have the same defect. I think it is because the cartridges from the First Generation are not very well developed.

I wonder if my Blue version still works now thinking about it. *Checks*

oddly enough my red and blue versions both still work while my second gen games both died. i dont think the older games were of lower quality at all, or if they are, they last just as long since they have less data to deal with. or maybe i played gold and silver much more, but i doubt that.

i'm holding on to my dead games in case i ever give them a new battery, and maybe using them to trade to my working crystal to get the starters and to evolve a seadra or poliwhirl. (by the way, if you use pokemon stadium 2 to trade an onix holding a metal coat to a blue version, and then trade back the same way, will it evolve?)

It's because the metal era had time and day/night which used up the internal battery faster.

Is there any place I could take my game to to get it fixed? How much would that cost?

I don't blieve that there are any main-stream, or indeed indie, places that would fix your cart.

You can do it yourself, though. Search the G/S/C forum for the GameFaqs link, that had a tutorial on how to do it yourself for around $15-$20.

Yes, but the problem is I don't have a soldier iron, nor do I have the money to buy one. Can I, like, rent one?

In the long run, I'm probably just gonna buy a new Blue.

The type of solder iron you want will be very cheap indeed. Almost certainly no more than $20.

Thing is, if you buy a new Blue how long will it be before THAT battery runs out and you have to go buy another one?

In the long run I'd say it's cheaper to just replace the battery.

You know what's strange? I haven't played my red version in three years, then last week I try it out, everything is still the same. I even sharked it a lot... and I do mean a lot. I Probably put 100 codes on it... Meh, maybe it's where you put the game, like in a room temperature or something.

Dang. Your internal battery died. ;-;
If I were you I'd just replace the battery. If you buy a used one you'll never know how long it will be until that one dies. Replacing the battery isn't tricky at all, it's actually quite easy. I wish you luck on this and reviving your game if you chose to do so.

Take it back and yell at them. That's what i did. No lie. I was so mad that they would just do that. But it wasn't with blue it was with Silver. My mom was also mad and she was also yelling at them. It was all worked out at the end

you dont need a solder iron just because the two things were soldered onto the battery doesnt mean you need a solder iron all i used was blue tack and then i wrapped sticky tape over the battery and around the circuit board for a stronger hold

Solder Iron is better though, since it's a more secure hold.

They're not expensive, either. I wouldn't like to put blue tack and sticky tape inside a game of mine... o_O
