My Doubles Team

zwgiantsfan

<- Best Pokémon Ever
Lead
:642: Thundurus @Electric Gem
Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk)
4 Def / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Speed
-Thunderbolt
-Substitute
-Focus Blast
-Thunder Wave
Substitute to help prevent 1 or 2 hit KOs from Rock Sliders like Terrakion, and Thunder Wave to try to prevent them from using it in the first place. Thunderbolt for easy sweeping and STAB with some help from my Electric Gem, and Focus Blast for coverage plus rock killing.

Physical Sweeper
:639: Terrakion @Life Orb
Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Atk)
128 Atk / 127 Def / 127 Sp. Def / 128 Speed
-Rock Slide
-Earthquake
-Close Combat
-Protect
A very well-rounded Pokemon, with emphasis on attack over special attack, that can fill a spot in any Pokemon team. Rock Slide and Close Combat for STAB, plus Earthquake for coverage and power, and Protect for protection.

Special Sweeper
:609: Chandelure @Zoom Lens
Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk)
255 HP / 255 Sp. Atk
-Energy Ball)
-Psychic
-Shadow Ball
-Heat Wave
A very common Pokemon for Unova, with INCREDIBLY high special attack. Not sure if I should use Shadow Ball (for STAB, but I have Hex which I would not use in first turn) or Energy Ball. Heat Wave is a powerful STAB attack that hits both opponents. Coverage in HP Water and Psychic.

Wall / Special Sweeper:
:593: Jellicent @Leftovers
Calm (+Sp. Def, -Atk)
252 HP / 128 Sp. Atk / 130 Sp. Def
-Ice Beam
-Recover
-Shadow Ball
-Water Spout
I really need a wallish water type so here is Jellicent. Also covers my ice type hole with Ice Beam. Shadow Ball and Water Spout just for STAB, and Recover and Leftovers for walling.

Special Sweeper:
:635: Hydreigon @Focus Sash
Timid (+Speed, -Atk)
6 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Speed
-Dragon Pulse
-Draco Meteor
-Dark Pulse
-Flamethrower / Fire Blast
A very nice (OU) special sweeper who has a varied moveset that can do wonders. Dragon Pulse and Dark Pulse for STAB, and Surf for a powerful attack (but hits all opponents so I don't know if I should use it), and either Flamethrower or Fire Blast for another powerful attack. I LOVE him as a Special Sweeper.

Annoyer / Wall:
:591: Amoonguss @Black Sludge
Bold (+Def, -Atk)
144 HP / 132 Def / 52 Sp. Atk / 180 Speed
-Rage Powder
-Spore
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
I am really starting to like this guy. With the new Follow Me in Rage Powder, this guy is great. Spore for sleeping, and Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb for Sweeping / STAB.

Yes I know I keep making threads about this... but I just came up with a new team with new strategies. Here is my VCG Team for 2011 without further ado.

:598: :639: :609: :560:

Staller / Wall
:598: Ferrothorn @Leftovers
Sassy
4 HP/ 252 Def / 252 Sp. Def
-Gyro Ball
-Stealth Rock
-Power Whip
-Leech Seed

Physical Sweeper
:639: Terrakion @ Leftovers
Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Atk)
128 Atk / 127 Def / 127 Sp. Def / 128 Speed
-Stone Edge
-Rock Polish
-Close Combat
-Quick Guard

Special Sweeper
:609: Chandelure @Choice Scarf
Timid
4 HP, 252 SpAtt, 252 Spd
-Overheat
-Energy Ball
-Shadow Ball
-HP Ground

Flash Fire for ability
Wall
:560: Scrafty (with Moxie) @Leftovers
Impish (+Def, -Sp. Atk)

-Rest
-Toxic
-Drain Punch
-Payback
Shed Skin for ability
Thanks

As you can see. A lot of work

Squirtle Squirt!
My suggestions are in bold. Also, Haxorusfan, since this is for VGC he/she can only have one Leftovers on the team.

Yes I know I keep making threads about this... but I just came up with a new team with new strategies. Here is my VCG Team for 2011 without further ado.

:598: :639: :609: :560:

Staller / Wall
:598: Ferrothorn @Leftovers
Careful (+Sp. Def, -Sp. Atk)
6 Atk / 252 Def / 252 Sp. Def
-Gyro Ball
-Power Whip
-Ingrain
-Leech Seed
A physical minded dual wall, and uses Gyro Ball and Power Whip for STAB. I use the Leech Seed / Ingrain / Leftovers strategy so it stays alive for a very long time. Leech Seed adds on some damage too.

Physical Sweeper
:639: Terrakion @Life Orb
Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Atk)
4 HP / 252 ATK / 252 Speed
-Close Combat
-Rock Slide
-Quick Attack
-Protect
A very well-rounded Pokemon, with emphasis on attack over special attack, that can fill a spot in any Pokemon team. Stone Edge and Sacred Sword for STAB, and Quick Guard for double protection and Rock Polish for increased speed. Also covers Ferrothorn's fire weakness and can use Quick Guard to protect Ferrothorn while I set up its strategy stated above.

Sorry for kinda taking over here but this guy needs some work. Rock Slide hits both opponents and better accuracy than Stone Edge. Close Combat comes at a price but hits hard. Protect is for stall/ scout, and Quick Attack is to hit weakened enemies for guaranteed knockout

Special Sweeper
:609: Chandelure @Choice Scarf
Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk)
255 HP / 255 Sp. Atk
-Wii-o-wisp / Psychic
-Overheat
-Shadow Ball
-Heat Wave
A very common Pokemon for Unova, with INCREDIBLY high special attack. Also, I'm using the status problem (Wii-o-wisp) ---> Hex strategy for extra damage. Not sure if I should use Shadow Ball (for STAB, but I have Hex which I would not use in first turn) or Energy Ball. Heat Wave is a powerful STAB attack that hits both opponents. Also, burn (from Will-o-wisp), cuts opponents' attack in half which is pretty nice.

Use Energy Ball if you want, but Overheat is for that final bang. Psychic adds more coverage.

Wall
:560: Scrafty (with Moxie) @Chople Berry
Impish (+Def, -Sp. Atk)
252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 Def
-Fake Out
-Detect
-Drain Punch
-Crunch
A dual wall with Brick Break for STAB and to break walls, Detect to protect itself, Drain Punch for STAB and more HP, and Crunch for STAB. It also only has 2 weaknesses, and has 2 resistances, 1 double resistance (*0.25 damage), and taking no damage at all from psychic makes it very useful. Now I really don't like Scrafty, but I need another wall so I might have to use it.

Scrafty is defensive enough on its own, focus on HP and Attack instead. You can always just add another wall anyway. Screens aren't that common this year, and you already have STAB Drain Punch. Trust me, Fake Out will prove to be VERY useful. Chople Berry is to survive all of those prevalent Fighting types.

Any recommendations?
Thanks

You know that you can bring six pokemon and then just choose four each battle right? Expand on your team some more!

My favourite scrafty set is:

Scrafty @ leftovers/lum berry
Jolly, 252 atk, 252 spd, 4 hp
Moxie
~dragon dance
~drain punch/HJK
~crunch
~ice punch

This guy has decent hp and brilliant defences so he can easily set up a dragon dance or two, leftovers or lum berry would help with this. Then drain punch would provide a decent recovery move but HJK is much more powerful, crunch is your other stab and with your fighting move gives perfect coverage (in my opinion this guy has some of the best typing in the game for both offense and defence) and lastly ice punch hits the omni-present dragons.

Hates Hidden Power
I would go Modest on Chandelure with Max HP so it's not a fragile ghost that can't take a neutral damage attack without losing Half its health.

Changes in bold

As you can see. A lot of work

1. i used the ferrothorn set i did 4 a reason, power whip change is ok. careful nature 2 help it resist chandelure sweeping
2. in a double battle it isnt smart 2 lower ur stats so close combat isnt smart plus sacred sword avoids all stat changes tht r on me
3. i dont need a speedster in chandelure. also maxing out hp to avoid sweeping. moveset isnt bad. gonna keep heat wave over overheat
4. moveset on scrafty will become rest drain punch payback thunderpunch 4 covereage
5. u can only use 1 item once. u used leftovers 3 times...

You know that you can bring six pokemon and then just choose four each battle right? Expand on your team some more!

1. power whip ok
2. life orb good, moves bad. protect covers 1 pkmn, quick guard covers 2. no need 4 quick attack. again i like sacred sword over close combat.
3. choice scarf allows 4 1 type of move so its no good. moves: hp ground heat wave shadow ball psychic
4. i like fake out. but its not a wall if i dont focus on defense n sp defense n thts the only reason i hav it
5. i will add more

thts a sweeping set. hes my wall

thts exactly wat i did...

How can nobody of noticed this seriously. When you make a pokemon bulky you ALWAYS! max the hp stat before the defences. With ferro I would suggest something more like 252 hp / 200 sp def / 56 def because it will give more overall bulk.

ferrothorn lead?

yes y? tht is pretty common. however i use it as a staller n keep replenishing its hp so it survives a while
