My First Serebii Post, but I'm not totally new

My First Serebii Team, but I'm not totally new

Ok, so this is officially my first post on Serebii! However, I'm not a true begginer at pokemon, and have a bit of experience breeding and training. I'm by no means an expert, though. I'd also like you all to keep in mind that certain event pokemon such as jirachi and others are simply unavailible to me because I play on DS. =]

So first, and overview:

;482;;373;;212;;143;;477;;485;

This team is designed to be able to handle a wide variety of things, and to cover for each other. Explanations of certain combos will be provided below.

;482; Stealth Elf

-Stealth Rock
-Psychic
-Explosion
-Fire Blast

Nature: Naive

EV's: 4 atk/252 special atk/252 speed

Item: Focus Sash

This is just an Azelf suicide lead, designed to just set up stealth rocks and die. In the chance that there is a Tyranitar lead, a switch to my next pokemon, Scizor, will be made, because it resists dark and easily OHKOs TTar with Bullet Punch

;212; Revengish Scizor

-U-Turn
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break
-Pursuit

Nature: Adamant

EV's: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 speed

Item: Choice Band

This Scizor can hit hard and fast with bullet punch, and its many resists let it switch in often. In particular, its dark resist covers Azelf and Dusknoir, and KOs most of what threatens them. Its Ice resist also helps Salamence, particularly agaisnt things like Weavile.

;373; Mixed Scarfmence

-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Outrage
-Earthquake

Nature: Naughty

EV's: 120 Atk/252 Special Atk/136 Speed

Item: Choice Scarf

This thing is just so good. It hits so much, so hard, so fast. It also helps the team with its useful resists to fire, water, and ground. Fire helps Scizor, and Water and Ground help Heatran. It is just so fun =]

;143; Sleep-Talk Lax

-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Body Slam
-Earthquake

Nature: Careful

EV's: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Special Def

Item: Leftovers

Ability: Thick Fat

This serves four purposes: status absorbing, late-game cleanup, special walling, and resisting Ice and Fire with thick fat. The resists reeeallly help out Salamence and Scizor, who are quad weak to those types, especially against special attacks. I'm not sure on moveset or nature for this, so ideas are welcome.

;477; Dusknoir Tank/Spin Blocker

-Will-o-wisp
-Fire Punch
-Ice Punch
-Pain Split

Nature: Impish

EV's: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Special Def

Item: Leftovers

This serves as a physical wall, spin blocker to keep up stealth rocks, and a fighting type resister to help snorlax and heatran. It really just fills out the team and provides extra protection. Also, like Snorlax, EVs and moveset are changeable, so if their's a problem, please offer alternatives.

;485; Super Revenge Heatran

-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power: Ice
-Explosion

Nature: Naive

EV's: 4 HP/252 Special Atk/252 Speed

Item: Choice Scarf

You all know what this does. Insurance policy against anything that threatens me. Almost as a side note, provides fire imunity to protect Scizor.

So that's my team. Any feedback is welcome, and if I forgot to add anything, don't be afraid to ask. =] Thanks

Some people are willing to trade away events if they can get the events on multiple games. Your format is a bit odd, but I guess it works. I say X-Scissor > U-Turn and Superpower > Brick break but that might just be me. All your sets are standered which is bad. Especially as Smogon fails to update to changes in tiers ect. On Scizor 252 Spe does not help you at all. I think it is 52 speed that outspeeds Magnezone.

Only go X-Scissor over U-Turn if you don't go with Superpower. This team looks okay, I'm just galncing over it, kind of a bit too offensive for my taste, but that's just me.

its not all that offensive, everything but azelf is a little bulky

Thanks!!

Hey thank you all for posting and here are my responses:

1. I will change the Scizor EV's and I think I'lll dump the extra into defense. I'll test it with the alternate moves to see what its like.

2. To Rhys: I appreciate your concern, but I think you are mistaken. This isn't A!akapimp's team, its mine. I never said it was bulky. And A!akapimp might have meant that the pokemon species themselves were bulky. heatran, scizor, and salamence all have respectable defenses, and snorlax and susknoir are of course bulky.

Thanks to all of you! keep the advice coming!

I'd put Taunt over either Fire Blast or Psychic on Azelf just so you can screw with DDing/set-up leads. You also get kinda boned by Levitating Ghosts on Snorlax unless you put Crunch over Body Slam.

I'd recommend a Spinner too if just because Sala's Choiced and you have no Wish-passer to recoup the cringe-inducing 25% HP loss on one of your most potent attackers. The problem is, I'm not sure which of your team members is most expendable. Unlike some other raters here, I can't just look at a team and see that it's "MixApe/SpecsMence/flavor of the week" weak, so you might want to do a little thinking on your own to see what you can put in there. I'd recommend shunting in Tentacruel though, since you really have no Water STAB or a true Special Wall (Snorlax only partially counts)

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Calm Nature, 204 HP/52 SpAtk/252 SpDef
- Hydro Pump
- Rapid Spin
- Sludge Bomb/Toxic
- HP Electric/Ice Beam/Giga Drain/Barrier

It also counters MixApe and can outstall Suicune and other bulky Waters.

Echoing what Deboog said about Scizor's Speed EVs. You just need to outspeed Magnezone. Everything else you bring Scizor in is out-sped on Bullet Punch and possibly Pursuit. Also, yes on Superpower because Scizor's switching in and out and the drop in Atk won't affect him as much.

In fact, you need to tweak your EVs on a lot of critters. 252 is nice in some cases, but HP and Speed often require better precision to reach Lefties/Sub thresholds or outspeed certain threats respectively.

Scizor: 204 HP/252 Atk/52 Spd
Snorlax: 204 HP/252 Atk/52 SpDef
Dusknoir: 212 HP/252 Def/44 SpDef

Hope that helps :)

Wow...

Thanks Venasaur! The Azelf idea is good, and I'll test it in comparison.

The Snorlax idea is terrific, because I didn't even know Snorlax learned Crunch.

The EV's are great, because I have no idea how to do those on my own. I pretty much just copy them from Smogon/wherever I get the set idea.

And after my first match on Shoddy testing this team, I realized I really needed rapid spin, and I've been trying to decide who to add and who to switch out. The Tentacrual idea is great. I wasn't even considering him

I still need to decide who to switch out, but for now, it looks like Snorlax. Although the status absorbing really is nice...

Thanks everyone, and keep on posting!

Tides have turned.
I would not put so many attack EVs on Snorlax, since ResTalk is hardly an offensive set. I would change it to 204hp/52def/252s.def, credit to Blue Ace for the EVs; this gives it a good leftovers recovery number, and good defenses to take hits with. You could also opt for Fire Punch over Crunch/Earthquake, as it hits both Ghosts and those Steel types, one of which will wall you otherwise(You would need Platinum or Emerald move tutor though).

i would suggest that "AWESOME A" change fireblast on both your Heatran and your Salamence to a much more accurate move like flamethrower, this will make sure u have a close to certain chance of pulling off a fairly powerful move in a tight situation without the 20% chance of missing.

However Fire Blast can OHKO things Flamethrower can't, thus it slightly more useful. Also has a nice 30% burn rate over Flamethrower's 10%.

IMO, the only Snorlax that doesn't need Atk EVs is Curselax. ResTalk is the most offensive of the defensive sets anyway, unless you're Cresselia or Giratina and run Calm Mind or Will-o-Wisp as one of your moves, respectively.

Wanting to hit hard isn't a crime, and the OP can switch Snorlax out to Dusknoir or Salamence when a physical threat comes in.

Blue Ace

Pokemon is Dead
;212; Revengish Scizor

-U-Turn
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break
-Pursuit

Nature: Adamant

EV's: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 speed

Item: Choice Band

224 Spd EVs outspeed Adamant Max Speed Tyranitar.

164 Spd Evs ouspeed No Speed Cresselia and Suicune.

52 Spd EVs outspeed standard Magnezone.

Otherwise you can opt to run none for more bulk and to hit Skarmory for super effective as it Roosts after the 1st Superpower.

;143; Sleep-Talk Lax

-Rest
-Sleep Talk

-Earthquake

Nature: Careful

Unfortunately this is not going to sweep when it's move combination is walled by so many things. It would be better off investing those attack EVs into bulkiness.

204 HP/ 52 Def/ 252 S.Def

Gets optimal Leftovers recovery and is overall bulkier so it can reliably take special attacks for the team.

;477; Dusknoir Tank/Spin Blocker

-Will-o-wisp
-Fire Punch
-Ice Punch
-Pain Split

Nature: Impish

EV's: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Special Def

Thunderpunch > Ice Punch, Dusknoir isn't a good counter or switch in to Dragons, where as in turn it is a rather good counter and switch in to Gyarados which this team has problems against.

Otherwise this team is very run-of-the-mill bog standard.

Thanks

Hey thanks for all the ideas. I will edit in the changes thus far as soon as I finish my homework. These are what I'll change (off the top of my head):

Scizor's EV's and moves- this is obvious. no explanation needed

Snorlax's moves and EV's- although i really like how hard he hits, and he has already won me a few stall wars, I really need someone to sponge up special hits better, so I think the change is needed. Also, the ability to hit ghosts is needed, so im going fire punch/crunch to hit steels and ghosts. If this is a mistake, dont hesitate to point it out

Dusknoir's Moves and EV's- Obvious too. Thunder punch just works better.

I also really want to add a rapid spinner, but I don't know what to take out. Any help with this is greatly appreciated
