My friend just restarted his Emerald verison and asked me wheater he
should get a Poochyena or a Houndour im not sure what to tell him
so what do you think?

poochyena,he can only get houndour after the elite four,and houndour had more weaknesses.

Houndoor ake after e4(it has better stats than poochyna).
If he want to train pokemon for e4, say him choose poochyena

Let him choose houndour, and tell him to get it in the safari zone after the E4, training won't work because you will need the national dex for it.
