My gamecube's kinda stale...

JohtoBlaziken

I dunno lol
Meh. I'd eventually do this one time or another. Let me get to the point of this thread: I've beaten every game on my gamecube so many times that it's not even funny. I really want another game for my precious cube that will last me awhile...the main candidates for me so far have been Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia (I know I'm a little late for those two but...><;).

I have many of the gamecube's best games, save for a few like Pikmin. Soooooo...what should I get? I have around forty dollars to spend on games right now.

Oh, and, if it isn't too much trouble, could you guys PLEASE persuade me with good logic and an explanation to get either one or the other of the aforementioned titles? This thread's also welcome to other recommendations as well.

With Action Amusing!
I have both those games and I haven't actually played either one ^_^; (One was given to me by a friend who as getting rid of his cube and the other was bought at a time when I just didn't have any free time at all) but they are both games I really want to play, I just can't find the motive to get into them.

From what I've heard though, Tales of Symphonia is the more desirable game, but this is no blemish on Baten Kaitos' reputation as I've heard many good things about that too. For the sake of going for the more popular choice, I'd go with Tales though.

You probably already have it, but for my recommendation to anyone who hasn't played it, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. You wont regret it!

Onion?
I haven't played Baten Kaitos, so I have no right to criticize or speak against it, but I have played Tales of Symphonia, and I highly reccomend you do as well.

For me it was the most fun and enthralling game I've played this generation. It is long, the story is fun and engrossing, the characters each have unique personalities, which is shown in the dialogue. And well these aspects are all well and good, the game even features a battle system that involves actual combat rather than that of the majority of RPGs, and makes fighting opponents all the more fun. And did I mention all the sidequests? There are a boatload in this game that promotes a ton of replay value long after completing you first playthrough.

I haven't played either games, but Tales of Symphonia must be an excellent game since it's pretty much adored by everyone who's played it. If you don't have it already, which you probably do since almost everyone does, get Mario Kart Double Dash. Even though almost every character in the game is available, (you only have to unlock 4 characters) it's pretty challenging IMO, so it may keep you busy.

no shinies ;_;
if you want a real big challenge, F-ZERO:GX

its so frustrating, its fun. and you have to make an ABSOLUTE perfect run to bet real hard mode. has tons of unlockables too.

long time till you get everything, i gurantee it.:)

and paper mario:the thousand year door is good too. also super smash bros.melee.

...NINE-THOUSAND!!!!
there's always the Metroid Prime series if you haven't played it yet, those two games (three if you have a DS) should keep you busy for a month or two

Keep Smiling...
You've got to keep in mind that Gamecube's era is very near it's end. So I'd advise getting a DS. ;). Or just wait for a Wii, whatever rocks your boat! :D

i'd definately go for tales of symphonia, it took me solid 4 or 5 months to complete my second playthrough, which is when i knew what to do. paper mario: the thousand year door is a good bet to, that took me a few months.

I don't own Baten Kaitos, but I do own Tales of Symphonia and I can safely say ToS is one of my favorite GC games.

I could say many good things about ToS but I’ll try to keep this simple.

The story is excellent (once it picks up) and it's narrated through good voice acting coupled with excellent character development. The battles strike a perfect level of difficulty allowing enough customisation to prevent boredom, without becoming confusing (most of the effects are pretty nifty too). Of course it's not all about battles. ToS features great cut scenes, a huge landmass to explore, puzzles and provides many tasks to complete. One more thing, the game is fairly long (even without side quests), so it’s a good choice for someone who wants to get more out of their Cube.

Tales of Symphonia is brilliant, and I definately recommend it. I've completed it 3 times and I'm still not bored (and it's a pretty long game anyway). It's basically an RPG, but with a side-scrolling real-time battle system, with a nice combo of skill and strategy. The story is pretty good too...

I haven't played Baten Kaitos, but from what I see people found it as a disappointment. I guess you could try it though...
