I'm just going to post 2 WIPs (for siblings) here. I'll finish them when I have time.
Name: Fenris Arkwright
Heroic Alias: Weaver
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Hero Classification: Quirk
Quirk: Mind Weaver (Mutant Class). Fenris has perfect control over all of his bodily functions. He can salivate, cry, sweat, etc. at will, he can move his hair, choose not to blink, stuff like that. His movements are quickened, and extremely accurate, making him great for work that requires precision or speed. His mind also functions at a much higher speed than others, making him great at things like mathematics or debate.
Arsenal: His superhero attire has all sorts of sensors on it that allow him to track all sorts of data on his surroundings (speed the enemy is moving at, temperature, how stable the buildings around him are, etc.), which is then displayed on a transparent visor. His gloves are made of a reinforced mesh that is about as strong as metal, allowing him to block blades and bullets. The entire uniform is made of a similar but less powerful mesh, similar to the ones Shouta Aizawa (Erasurehead) uses. The delicate nature of all this equipment means that he is more suited to support or assassination missions, and not all that good at extended, face-to-face physical fighting.
Physical Description: Fenris has pale skin, like someone who doesn't go outside much. He is slightly on the taller side for people his age, but not by much, although his skinny physique makes him seem taller than he actually is. Despite his apparent skinniness, he is actually quite fit, and has a lithe figure that is usually hidden by his loose clothing. His hair is spiky, long, unkempt, and a bright scarlet colour that makes him stand out in a crowd. If you look more closely, you can make out a few silver strands that give his hair a shimmering, ethereal quality. More often than not, a few strands hang over his eyes, which are an emerald green and have a strange piercing quality to them. Many find direct eye contact with him unnerving, which is why he usually lets some hair hang over his eyes to take the edge of his gaze. He's got a pointy nose and a sharp chin, which also add to the somewhat edgy aura he gives off.
When it comes to clothing, he prefers casual and has an adamant hatred of formal clothing. He as two main outfits. One is a loose scarlet, long-sleeved t-shirt with a pair of black, baggy track pants, and a black hoodie, usually either draped around his neck or tied around his waist. This is what he usually wears in more casual and homely settings, and most are familiar with his other outfit. Speaking of that, the outfit he tends to wear to school is a loose white shirt (top few buttons unbuttoned, please) with a long and very large black jacket, coupled again with a black tracksuit. The jacket's sleeves are large, and he often doesn't use them, preferring to wear the jacket like a cape. All of his clothing is either black, white, or scarlet. He always has a kind of disheveled look to him, as if he hadn't slept or changed for a few days.
His superhero uniform is a triangular black helmet with a red visor that covers his eyes but leaves his mouth and nose exposed. It comes with baggy black pants, a long black scarf and a billowy, ragged-looking black jacket, both made out of a very strong mesh, capable of absorbing decent amounts of shock. Underneath that he wears a long-sleeved red shirt. He also has two black gloves. There are sensors placed all over the uniform in different places, which display information into his visor.
Like this, but with green eyes.
Personality Summary: Fenris prefers to be alone, and detached from what is happening around him. He is a lone wolf by all counts - he operates alone, and in doing so, achieves the best results. He had never liked people, so he isolates himself from them on the logic that the less he is bound by his ties to others, the more free he is. His cynicism born from living out the early years of his life in the proverbial gutter surrounded by other, similarly cynical and disillusioned children had left him with the conviction that the world must be changed, but he considers himself unable to change it. He sees everything around him with a sort of detached disillusionment, and finds it difficult to have strong feelings about any subject.
He has hardly any sense of self worth, and tends to consider himself the lowest of the low in terms of society. Self sacrifice is a norm for him, especially when he thinks it's the most efficient way to get things done. He tends to go out of his way to help others who ask for or need his help, partly because of his belief that somebody with his talents have a responsibility to do so, and partly because he feels that it'll redeem him somehow. He is also incredibly forgiving and can't hold a grudge for long, as well as finding it very difficult to turn his efforts in the direction of hurting others.
Over years of careful observation helped by his keen intuition, Fenris had developed a sort of sixth sense when it came to human emotion. He is an expert at reading people's faces and actions and finding the emotions that were behind them, and is even better at using those emotions to get what he wanted. He usually tries to refrain from hurting others in this process, but exceptions will occasionally be made. Due to this sixth sense, as well as his quirk, he is actually very good in social situations despite his solitary existence, and many who interact with him more superficially (by that, I mean on an 'acquaintance' level, which is pretty much everyone) leave with the impression that he is a sociable person. He is known for not being fazed by anything when it comes to social contact, being able to slip in and out of the most awkward conversations with ease when it suits his needs. The complete confidence he has in his ability to get things done puts people at ease around him.
If there is another trait that defines Fenris, it is his lack of ambition. He has no real goals in life despite his tremendous intellect and social graces, and his dearest wish is to just live a peaceful life, alone or maybe married, in the suburbs somewhere, working in a normal job. He stays at the FAIE out of concern over his sister, as well as his curiosity about the hero world that he was originally created to be part of. In fact, his curiosity is one of the only three ways to motivate him (the other two being his sister and appealing to his help-people-because-I-have-to complex). Otherwise, he tends to just observe from the sidelines, away from the spotlight, which he believes should be placed on other people more worthy of it.
History (include how you became an applicant): Fenris was a failed genetic experiment, a byproduct of a series of attempts to produce the an ultimate being possessing all three types of quirks - Mutation, Transformation, and Emitter. He was born with an exceptionally rare quirk, which allowed him to control all of his bodily functions, but since the facility that was involved in the project had created such quirks before, this wasn't viewed with any sort of admiration or even interest. He spent the first five years of his life wasting away in the dormitories of the research facility as the scientists half-heartedly conducted tests on him. Left to fend for himself amongst other children in a similar position, all of which were feeling similar feelings of resentment and despair, Fenris quickly constructed a dark worldview that was further affirmed by everything he saw.
His sister, Akane, was born two years after him. While he had been too young to fully comprehend what it would mean, she was entrusted to him on the logic that since he was the older sibling, he held responsibility over his younger sister. The fact that he was
two years old, and hardly capable of even taking care of himself, was an afterthought. Due to the neglect during her first couple of years of life, his sister's health had always been frail, something Fenris blamed himself for. The instant he became old enough to realise that the crying girl in the bassinet was under his care and was actually capable of caring for her, he took it upon himself to make sure that she lived as good a life as possible. He had given up on his own life a long time ago. However, this girl, with her cheerful and carefree demeanour despite her malnourishment, seemed to him to be a treasure that must not be defiled.
When the research facility was shut down, he was sent, along with his younger sister, to an orphanage in a bad part of town, where they had to fend for themselves amongst many other children with powerful quirks and twisted personalities, products of the same program. His sister, who was still young and frail, was helpless on her own, so Fenris had to fend for both of them. The people who ran the orphanage were usually too tired and stressed out to intervene in the affairs of the children, and usually left them to their own devices. By the time a crimson haired man called Pheonix Arkwright arrived to check out the children with strange quirks that were supposedly situated there, Fenris had become a thoroughly disillusioned and cynical individual, carrying many mental scars (and a few physical ones as well).
After this mysterious man chose to adopt him, as well as his sister, their lives began to improve. Since they no longer had to worry about food and shelter, Akane's health began to improve as well. Pheonix Arkwright, seeing potential in Akane, saw only a boy that was already dead inside in Fenris, and pushed him to the side in favour of his sibling. He didn't mind. In fact, the two remained on good terms with each other, since their interests and goals were quite similar - the wellbeing of his sister and the realisation of her potential. Everybody in the household, which was huge, despite the fact that Pheonix Arkwright was a single man with no family, knew this to be the truth, and they paid no heed to Fenris, knowing him to be nothing more than a sideshow and a supporting character. Just the way he had grown to like it.
So, when Akane fell ill once more on the day the entrance exams for the FAIE were to be taken, both Fenris and his adopted father were understandably distraught. Fenris insisted on caring for her himself, and he stayed near the room she was lying in, never leaving the house except to take short walks to clear is head or buy medicine. When it became apparent that she was going to recover soon, he took it upon himself to do whatever was necessary to get his sister into the FAIE, and to get himself there as well, where he would be able to continue supporting her. And he did just that.
Others:
- There are many rumours circulating around the student body about how exactly he managed to talk his way into the FAIE. Many suspect him of blackmailing certain executives, or other similarly morally questionable actions.
- He likes to play with his hair.
- Whenever he is feeling particularly irritated, he tends to like to make tapping noises with his index finger on his left hand.
- People who don't know him well like to joke that he'd make a better villain than he would a hero.
Another one:
Name: Akane Arkwright
Heroic Alias: Firebloom.
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Hero Classification: Quirk:
Quirk: Fire Weaver (Mutant/Emitter Class). Akane has perfect control over all of her bodily functions. She can move her hair, salivate/cry/sweat/etc. at will. All her movements are precise and extremely accurate, as well as powerful. Each individual strand of her hair is strong as steel, and can be controlled. She has the ability to set her hands, feet, and hair on fire, and her body is fireproof. A genetic problem prevents her from using her fire for extended periods of time.
Arsenal: Her suit has two shield-like structures on both of her arms, which can harness her fire to act as flamethrowers. There is also a mechanical device on her chest, hidden by her clothing, which helps with her lung problem.
Physical Description: Akane, like her brother, has a thin and almost wiry frame. Her skin is on the paler side, and it never tans. Her hair is also a fiery, scarlet colour, and is tied into two long braids on either side of her head. The rest of it is also quite long, occasionally hanging over her eyes, and she tends to just let it stick out in all directions because she thinks it looks cool. She has two bangs that hang down both sides of her face, and she often wears some sort of hair pin or decoration on the left side. Her eyes are an emerald green colour, and are quite large. She stands at about average height for somebody her age, although her face has a sort of childlike quality to it. She always appears to be a little on the messy side, like she had had to get dressed in a couple of seconds and had no time to make herself look presentable, but she hardly ever appears to be disheveled. She is very fit, but not exactly muscular.
Her normal attire is a white shirt with the bottom few buttons unbuttoned, usually all the way up to her chest, and a pair of baggy grey trousers. She owns no formal clothes, and her idea of dressing formally is to put on a loose orange tie and actually button her shirt properly. She always wears a pair of orange and black trainers, and also puts on black gloves every now and then. On colder days, she wears a large red jacket with really long sleeves over her normal clothing. Her clothing is often asymmetrical, with one of her sleeves long and the other sleeve short, and it is rare to find her wearing two gloves of the same colour. All of her shirts have some sort of pattern near the wrist, many of which she added on herself.
Her superhero attire is a brown hooded cloak, which looks straight out of some sort of fantasy anime. Under that, she tends to wear clothes similar to the ones she usually wears. She has two brownish shield-like structures on either arm, which can act like flamethrowers when she connects any of her burning body parts to them. Sometimes, she wears a kind of mask that covers the bottom half of her face, which helps her with her lung problem. She prefers to go without it though. She also has a pair of red goggles (like Tracer's, from Overwatch) that she keeps hanging loosely around her neck, which she occasionally puts on.
Like this, but, again, with green eyes.
Personality Summary: Akane is a person who finds it necessary to keep up facades around others. She constantly feels the pressure of her brother and father's expectations weighing on her, and goes out of her way to try and fulfil them. She tries her best to appear optimistic, dependable, and 'cool', and has gotten pretty darn good at it. As such, you can always expect her to have a serious expression and a no-nonsense attitude until you try and get to know her a bit, after which she smiles and laughs a lot more and generally tries to keep things light and optimistic, in accordance to what people expect of her. People often speak of her as a brash, outgoing tomboy, an image she likes to maintain.
Of course, her real personality is more complicated than that. She is a great liar/actor and can be a little manipulative, although her intentions are always good. She is very good at hiding her true feelings, an aspect of her that few people even know about. She has a need to be seen as dependable by others, and will go out of her way to help those who ask for her assistance, and has developed a reputation for being somebody that's always willing to lend a helping hand. This causes her trouble more often than not, because she tires easily, and she often finds herself feeling drained and tired after running around helping those that come to her for it.
She also has a bit of an inferiority complex, and often feels that she is not living up to the standards set by others and is in some way inadequate. She often finds fault in herself even when there is nothing at all wrong, and will often blame herself when in reality she is completely innocent. She looks up both to her brother and her father as some sort of idol, and strives to be like them, or to be the person they want/expect her to be. She hates to fail, and finds little joy in success, often attributing it to others. This cycle of self-deprecation often leaves her feeling empty and tired, although she never shows it.
All these insecurities and facades aside, however, she is still a huge kid at heart. Her childlike/girly side has been suppressed both by herself and by her experiences, leaving it buried under a bunch of lies and masks. However, she does still let it show through sometimes with those she is really close with, like her brother Fenris. She does things like collecting stuffed animals, and daydreams about stereotypically girly things quite often. She loves 'cute' things, and has the kind of curiosity and love of every little thing around her that is usually found in young children.
History (include how you became an applicant):
Akane, like her brother, was a genetically engineered child. Unlike her brother, the engineering was actually partly successful in her case. She was born with a mixture of a fire-making and body-controlling quirk, both very rare and powerful ones. However, the facility that was doing the research was forced to be shut down due to lack of funding and the protests of those that were against this type of genetic manipulation, and the children it had created were left without a home and sent to various orphanages around the city.
Through the earlier years of her life, she was a sickly child due to her health problems and the neglect during the early stages of her infancy. Along with her brother, the two of them had to fend for themselves amongst much older children, often having to fight or beg for food. Unlike her brother, however, these experiences did not leave her disillusioned and cynical, and instead instilled in her a love for all things beautiful and unknown to her.
Along with her brother, they were adopted by a rich man called Pheonix Arkwright, who was particularly interested in mutation-type quirks. He had once been a researcher for the program that had created these two children, and wanted to use the potential he knew they had for the greater good. While his intentions may have been pure, he didn't make a really good father. He was a single man, and live alone in a large mansion towards the suburbs. He had singled out Akane as his personal project, and set about trying to make her the hero he had originally envisioned her to be. He saw huge potential in her, and wwanted to realise it.
He wasn't a bad man, just quite aloof. He homeschooled them, hired tutors for all sorts of subjects, while he himself observed from the distance and gave aid where it was necessary. All along, however, he had made it clear to Akane that he expected her to become a hero, and that he expected her to be the best hero, because he knew unlike any other, having been her creator, that she had the capability. Akane, however, was quite a sickly child due a genetic illness that prevented her from using her quirk for extended periods of time (like All Might, but for a different reason), and constantly found herself unable to match up her adopted father's demanding standards. It was during this period of time that she started developing an inferiority complex and began to grow more interested in appearing to be 'cool' and dependable, something her brother saw but was powerless to prevent.
What was even worse was the fact that she had suddenly fallen badly ill when the entrance exams for the FAIE started, and was unable to attend. Her brother Fenris, despite having a good chance at getting in himself, stayed behind to look after her. This didn't sit well with their father, but since Fenris had always been fiercely independent and a tad bit rebellious, he couldn't do much about it. When she had finally recovered, Fenris managed to get the FAIE to allow them to take the exam again despite the fact that they had missed the deadline by a couple of weeks. Both passed with flying colours.
Others:
- She has a lung problem, caused by a error in the genetic engineering process. She coughs up blood occasionally, and finds it difficult to do intense exercise for long periods of time.
- She doesn't like water and hates fish.
- She loves cats.
- She can dance really well.
- She's a bit of a sci-fi nerd/otaku and sometimes uses basic japanese words in her speech.
