I am currently training a Lapras and I need to know a good moveset. Here's what I have so far:

Lapras Male Lv.24@nothing (need filler)
Trait: Shell Armor
EV's: don't EV train
Nature: Docile
Surf
Rain Dance
Ice Beam
Thunder

Please don't double post just to get peoples attention. It is against the rules.
Infact, don't double post

OK, first of all, just a little friendly advice, not trying to tell you what to do or anything, but please don't double post, people will get to your thread eventually, you just posted this topic an hour ago. Double-posting is against the rules here at SPPf, so the mods don't like to see it.

Special Attacking Lapras (Water Absorb)

Ice Beam
Thunderbolt/Confuse Ray
Surf
Rest/Confuse Ray/Sheer Cold/Psychic
@Leftovers.

OHKO Lapras (Water Absorb)

Horn Drill
Sheer Cold
Sleep Talk
Rest
@Leftovers.

Physical Attacking Lapras (Water Absorb)

Body Slam
HP Ground/Ghost/Rock
Curse/Dragon Dance
Rest/Ice Beam
@Leftovers.

Since your Lapras has a neutral personality, it doesn't really matter which moveset that you use. The OHKO set really isn't useful in-game though, and you would want a defense/special defense raising personality for it. I would use the special attacking moveset that I listed, or something similar to it. Lapras' maximum attack and special attack stats are actually the same, so the only real disadvantage of the physical moveset is that you won't get STAB, plus Lapras doesn't get as good of a physical moveset as it does a special moveset. Unless this Lapras is purely in-game, then I seriously recommend getting one with a good stat enhancing personality, and EV training it.

I rarely read the rules for message boards, so I didn't mean to break the rules. I don't like EV training because I have a kind of short attention span when it comes to things that are incredibly time consuming and may not work. But if you really think I should, where should I put EV's and where should I train for those EV's. And I think I should keep RD because it enhances two of my moves. So whats the point of TBolt when you can get a 120 power move with 100% accuracy?

Because Thunder Dancing requires 2 turns.
While with T-Bolt, you can do 2 hits in that time, causing SO much more damage with the Power of 95.

95+95=190
Thunder=120
T-Bolt>Thunder Dancing

I recommend Special attack and the rest in defences if you are going to use the special attacker, HP if you are going to the frontier, Attack for the physical attacker. Lapras is slow, so don't train it in speed. Look in game mechanics on the main site, on ev's for recommended places to train.

OK. TBolt it is.

Now that we have Lapras out of the way can someone give me a good moveset for Arcanine? I'm planning on training one later in the game (Thanks 16 Years Later for reminding me with the avatar).

Physical Attacking Arcanine (Adamant Personality)

Howl
Extremespeed
HP Fighting/Ground/Aerial Ace/Body Slam
Overheat/Fire Blast
@Liechi Berry/Leftovers.

Special Attacking Arcanine (Modest Personality)

Flamethrower/Fire Blast
Crunch
HP Grass, Water, or Ice/Extremespeed/Overheat/Sunny Day/Substitute
HP Grass, Water, or Ice/Extremespeed/Overheat/Sunny Day/Substitute
@Petaya Berry/Leftovers.

EDIT: Meh, I just listed Hidden Power as an alternative choice. There is a chance that even in-game, you could end up with a good Hidden Power type that has decent power. It can be useful in-game, and all you have to do is just save your game, teach a Pokemon Hidden Power, see what type it is, and if you don't like it, just reset the game.

Please don't suggest HP for ingame.

I like
Arcanine@ Leftovers
Rash Nature
Evs-208 Speed, 180 Sp Attack, 122 Attack
-Howl
-Extremespeed
-Fire Blast
-Crunch

Bold Lapras also works. Any bulky water with bold works usually.

Freakshow

Jibaku
Arcanine @ Leftovers
Adamant/Lonely nature
Trait: Intimidate
-Howl
-Extremespeed
-Iron Tail/Aerial Ace
-Fire Blast/Overheat

I raised it before reading this, so it's both Sp. and Physical:

Arcanine@nothing yet
Trait: Flash Fire
Nature: Quiet
EV's: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Att., 6 Speed
Flamethrower
HP Ice (decent power)
Extremespeed
Iron Tail

I can't rebread seeing as it's Lv.77.

Tbh, the title of this thread should have been as follows:

"My Lapras needs more cowbell!"

But anyway:

Arcanine@Liechi Berry/Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
Nature: Adamant
Flamethrower
Howl
Extremespeed
Aerial Ace

This thing would have been better with EQ tbh but no, the fire type was doomed to be absolute ****.

yeah, those EVs aren't all that good. if you're playing emerald, you can use the EV reducing berries (21-26). just use 26 on HP to get it to 0, then enough to drop the sp. atk to whatever fighting master suggests, then ev train for attack and speed accordingly. remember, the berries reduce 10 EVs each.

A Lapras moveset that works okay is:

Lapras, Bold, Leftovers
Surf
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Psychic
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 200 Def, rest in Sp.Def

With enough defense, Lapras can survive a fighting attack so it can use psychic. As for arcanine...

Arcanine, Adamant, Leftovers
Extremespeed
Overheat
Iron Tail
Rest/Howl
EVs: 252 Atk, 200 Speed, 6HP, 52 Def/Sp.Def

Some say that Iron Tail isn't very reliable, but without it, Arcanine would have very few type coverage.

Okay. For the moment I would like a Sp. moveset because this Arcanine is being used specifically for the E4 in Fire Red, thus I am using HP Ice for the Dragonites. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration for the next time I bread an Arcanine.
