My OU Uber Team

brandyjay

GET IN THE BAG
My best friend is a Pokemon player but he thinks his Uber team is epic and brilliant but tbh it is KRAP!!!
So I hatched an idea. He loves his Ubers because he thinks they can only be beaten by other Ubers so I am planning to smack him with an OU team that will beat him by actually being smart. I also can't use non-Uber legendaries because he will accuse them of being Uber even if they suck like Regigigas.

Because he has no idea he doesn't use weather effects or entry hazards. He actually has about three non-offensive moves in his whole team I think. Anyway this isn't about his team it is about mine to beat him with.

He likes Double battles so keep that in mind. And he chooses to ignore all clauses.

Shuckle @ Leftovers
Sturdy
Careful 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp. Def
Helping Hand
Toxic
Safeguard
Stealth Rock

My friend doesn't have taunt on anything and favours Sp. Att so this is a safe opener in a double battle. It sets up stealth rock which is necessary if I am going to take out his Zapdos late game. He also doesn't have any rapid spinners. I'm not even sure if he knows what an entry hazard is.
Safeguard helps if Primeape gets slaughtered by the second pokemon once Darkrai is out. This is a very safe Pokemon until Palkia comes out.

Scizor @ Leftovers
Technician
Adamant or Jolly? 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Swords Dance
Bullet Punch
X-Scissor
Roost

He has seen this with baton pass instead of roost and he hated it. He will be looking for the baton pass and will probably try and concentrate all attacks on it. The only thing he can actually use on this is Dialga. If he brings that out then I will swap for one of the other pokes. Probably Breloom if I think he thinks I will be baton passing to a counter in which case he will probably use dragon claw. He usually leads with Mewtwo and this takes it down with ease.

Primeape @ Focus Sash
Vital Spirit
Jolly 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Close Combat
Reversal
Stone Edge
Earthquake

Mr. Darkrai Counter himself. This guy is specially designed to take out my friends pride and joy. A perfect speed Darkrai that runs Dark Void / Psychic / Dark Pulse / X-scissor. Weird moveset I know but that is what it has and he loves it. He swept a smart person's brilliant team with it once. i am going to show him that it can be beaten. By a non-OU no less. It does it's job abd maybe revenges if it doesn't get knocked out after it has done it's job. It needs the speed to kill Darkrai before it can be knocked out. It is a revenge killer and can't do it any other way. It comes in. Darkrai Psychics. Primeape hangs on and kills with CC. Then it has a set that can take advantage or only 1HP if for some reason the second pokemon doesn't kill it once Darkrai dies.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
Adamant 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Spore
Seed Bomb
Superpower/Sky Uppercut?
Facade

This is the only Pokemon I got straight off Smogon and it should do it's job of taking out whatever is left when all my specialised Pokemon have done their job. Pretty simple really. It is also one of the Dialga counters. Problem is if Zapdos is in. That Zapdos does have drill peck. But I have a good relaible Zapdos Counter so it should be long dead by then.

Starmie @ Wise Glasses
Natural Cure
Modest/Timid? 252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Hydro Pump
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Psychic

Yup. A water typed Zapdos counter that can also sweep. Ice beam 1HKOs Zapdos every time so long as it has at least 20% damage. Then it can procede to damage whatever else is on the field. Hydro Pump had to be picked because it is a double battle. Not much here except working out what nature. I lack a special sweeper so this does the job. It was originally being raised as a counter to whatever is his varying 6th Pokemon. tyranitar was originally in the team and had to be taken out due to Primeape so I found myself facing an unbeatable Zapdos so Starmie got changed a fair bit.

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Intimadate
252 Att / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Waterfall
Ice Fang

Sadly I need to confuse myself to take out his Palkia but on the plus side I will probably end up destroying whatever swaps in. I had to find a Palkia killer and Dragon is its weakness. Next step was to find something to do the job. Kingdra would have worked if it wasn't OHKOed by like every Uber STAB dragon attack. Gyarados was the one that offered what I needed in the best way.

Ok so that is my current team planned to take out his ubers.
His 5 staples are:
Mewtwo
Zapdos
Dialga
Palkia
Darkrai

The other poke can be almost any other Uber except Manaphy. he has been favoring Giratina-O lately but when that got smashed with my BP Scizor he started to think twice about it.

I'm probably not the best for rating, as I'm somewhat inexperienced, but I've been in your shoes. It always annoys me when someone uses a load of ubers just for the sake of winning. Anyway, from my experience Breloom isn't as easy to use in double battles when compared to its viability in single battles. Considering its 70 base speed, even with maxed speed it is likely to be outrun and KO'ed by a fast uber before it can get a Spore off. If you ask me, Ambipom might make for a good replacement. With Technician, STAB and Silk Scarf, it can deal massive damage that I'm sure your friend won't see coming. The set that would be best for your team is something like this:

Ambipom @ Silk Scarf
Jolly Nature
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
Fake Out
U-Turn
Brick Break
Return

Fake Out has priority and renders one of his ubers useless for a turn, as well as dealing a lot of damage. From there you can U-Turn (which may knock out Mewtwo and Darkrai after Fake Out and/or Stealth Rock damage; I haven't done the calculations so I wouldn't know); you also have a powerful STAB in Return, or you can use Brick Break on Dialga, thus providing yourself with a more effective Dialga counter than Breloom. I hope this helps.

^ lol, sorry but neither of us have WiFi. Our battles are done when ever I stay the night at his place.

He usually leads with his fastest pokemon. His pokemon have In-game EV's that are all over the place and very rarely are there any on speed. The Jolly max EV speed should outrun most of what is left on his team. I could also give Breloom a focus sash and just go for the one kill but that would defeat the purpose of a power house.
In the unlikely case where i am forced to use Primeape to take out Dialga a toxic orb Breloom (who is already poisoned) will also be able to take out Darkrai.

Yes, your friend is not experienced, I hope this gives him a wake-up call. Some things to consider are: take Outrage out for maybe Stone Edge on Gyara, because on the second turn, you might attack the wrong pokemon with it. Consider Earthquake on stuff that can learn it, like Breloom. Rock Slide on Breloom/Primeape hits both pokemon, which would be good. A very cheap thing to do would be to consider a Breloom set like this:

Breloom @ Leftovers

-Substitute
-Spore
-Leech Seed
-Drain Punch

I am lazy with EVs, some attack, a high HP number divisible by 16, and rest in defenses. The reason why Toxic Orb would not be on this is that Shuckle would use Toxic on it. You would be recovering HP from Leech Seed, Leftovers, Toxic, and Drain Punch, and you could easily get a free turn with Spore. Consider replacing Safeguard on Shuckle with something like Knock Off, because it might become a dead weight in doubles. For more, try going to smogon.com's double battle primer under Articles. I hope that these ideas allow you to WIN your next battle with your friend! :)

Protect > Safeguard on Shuckle. Like you said, this person uses mainly offensive moves rather than status, so this will serve you better. It'll also annoy your opponent a lot lol.

It might be better to have standard CB Scizor rather than SD Scizor.

Scizor @Choice Band
Technician | Adamant | 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Def
~ Bullet Punch
~ U-turn
~ Superpower
~ Pursuit

U-turn lets you easily play around what he does, and it damages a lot of Ubers for 2x damage. Still has Bullet Punch to revenge kill, but doesn't need setting up.

Choice Scarf would be better on Primeape, since then it'd outspeed everything your opponent has. Also change Stone Edge to Ice Punch and Reversal to U-turn. I have a feeling U-turn will annoy the hell out of him.

Go with SubSeed Breloom (already mentionedby 5wamp3rt). Just have Seed Bomb rather than Drain Punch.

Choice Specs > Wise Glasses on Starmie. You could also replace Psychic with Trick.

You could go for ResTalk Gyarados, but since he's just attacking hardcore it could go badly. Otherwise Earthquake > Outrage.

Also this should probably be in In-game but meh.

How many hit KO will Gyarados be able to do on Palkia with a different set?
I will swap Protect for safeguard on Shuckle and I like that Scizor set.
Because I am changing Scizor to what was suggested I can also do the breloom move swap and I will probably use the Sub Seed. I am reluctant to chioce my Starmie just so that I can change to something different when i want, especially late game. btw Would i not just change scizor to swarm if i am only going to get one powered up attack?
I also don't want to put EQ on Gyarados just because everything bar Breloom will be hit hard by it unless I use protect with Shuckle. Gyarados is there specifically to down Palkia.
Also sorry for putting this in the wrong section.

Those are my concerns atm.

That's exactly why I suggested you put Trick over Psychic, it lets you get rid of your Specs (and annoy him at the same time) and then attack freely.
btw Would i not just change scizor to swarm if i am only going to get one powered up attack?
No, because that weakens Bullet Punch too much, and Swarm only activates when you're under 33% HP (iirc). You need the extra power on Bullet Punch since that lets you revenge kill stuff from higher HP.
I also don't want to put EQ on Gyarados just because everything bar Breloom will be hit hard by it unless I use protect with Shuckle. Gyarados is there specifically to down Palkia.
Ah I completely forgot about EQ's side effect in doubles. In that case yeah, go for Outrage. But remember it attacks a random foe, so it may not actually target Palkia.

im not the best with rating, but if gyarados has dragondance i wouldn't use a life orb.
i would use a white herb or a persim berry. so you're not confused after first outrage.
i hope it helps :) .
though i would check before using my idea ;) :p .

Outrage may not target Palkia. You may want a MixMence.

weavile would do great here

weavile @ focus sash
adament
252 atk/252 spd/4 hp
ice punch (zapdos & girantina)
night slash(mewtwo)
brick break(darkrai & dialga)
swords dance

standard SD + focus sash and I doubt your friend uses entry hazards or priority moves so all you need is someone to take out palkia and you're set to go.

If your friend likes double battles and doesn't use any clauses, then you could try this in there somewhere.

Smeargle@Choice Scarf
Ability: Own Tempo
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252Spe-252Atk-4Hp
- Dark Void
- Fake Out
- Destiny Bond
- Trick/Encore/U-turn

I agree, you should definitely try to slot in Dark Void somewhere, though Scarf Fake Out is a pretty bad option in general. It's also walled completely by Ghost-types.

Adamant on Scizor. Especially as it's Leftovers. Consider Choice Band; it can help revenge Darkrai, especially as Primeape is pretty shaky.

Alot of people used Choice Scarf Fake Out in the VGC. (Usualy on either Smeargle or Weavile) But after looking at the uber team that he will be going up againsed, it might not be such a good idea this time.
