My Region(no name, yet)

[Leafy Sea Dragon]

My Region all started because of a cat. XD

I have gotten the Region Dex done, the national dex done, League, some characters and maps worked on. I have drawn the protagonist/rival, the Proffesor, starters, and Legendaries. Items I still need to work on a lot.

Ok.. umm how can I put this without being mean?
The trainers look like you grabbed an almost dead pen, scribbled a little and then colored with crayon. Really work on neatness, color, proportions and everything else.
Im sorry, but 1/10....

Badly drawn.
I suggest you stay within the manga style although this isn't essential. Work on anatomy and give your people much more slender fingers. If your not going to shade then colour with this rule: press as hard as you can with the pencil without breaking it. Your lines and colouring are very scruffy and if you take longer over your work then it might not look so rushed.

Oh no... That's as much as I can say. Do not ever use a paper and pencil for making Regions. You need Sprites and Tiles. Manga would be better this is practically Amarican and sucks.

The male character's shirt, I know I messed up on it. The female character, looks all scribbly because of the scene she is in(it doesn't look like that because i cut the picture). The original of her, her nose is weird. The Rival I just outlined in pencil.

Oh! I "started" but didn't finish the Drawing of the region. I made it on the Computer.

These pictures kind of remind me of the crude illustrations in Roald Dahl books. This makes me feel nostalgic, but if it's not what you were going for then I suggest you keep practicing and gradually learn how to draw.

Also, it's nice and all that you know the names of all your fictional Pokémon, but is it really necessary to list them all without even posting any pictures? Laaaame.

I have gotten the Region Dex after the Elite Four, The Type List and a not-so-good drawing of the Legendaries on my First Post.

For the Ledendary Picture:

The Moon is Lunyc, it is the leader of the dark trio which are Nokles(the Dinosaur), Grailin(part plant, part lion) and Viral(That Multi-Colored, red-eyed ghost thing).

Next is Grimdeh, the Reaper Legendary(I Might take him out, not because of Duskull, but The Grim Reaper in Pokemon?

Below Grimdeh is Feonix, Leader of the Pixie/Psychic Trio. "Being of Life".

To the right of the Bird Pixie are: Liger, Crail and Ferun, the Light Legendaries. Fernun is the Rayquaza/Giratina of the Duo.

To the Left of the Picture are Mino(Mole), Tigite(White tiger) and Saquth(Sasquatch). Mino Causes Earthquakes and hides in caves. Tigite Roams around the top of the snowy mountains. Saquth hides is the Forest.

Now that's just flaming. Sure, these pictures are simplistic and juvenile, but they at least have some sort of contemporary art gallery bull-**** charm to them.

If you ask me this guy should keep working on his fakemon and fake region and everything. It's important for kids these days to be creative and explore their artistic side, as lopsided and messy as it may be. It worked for that Roald Dahl illustrator. Shame on you for trying to keep this kid from showing off his drawings. If he didn't, how would he ever learn?

Besides, I kinda like them.

That has got to be the most selfish and ill-intended reply to a post I have ever seen on the Serebii forums. Look, you can be honest and say that they look like crap. (Which they do to an extent) But to tell him to stop working on it? That's utter nonsense. Practice makes perfect, and not getting criticism on your current art isn't going to help your drawing skills very well. Even if he/she DOES need alot of work, it's no reason to stop. Custom regions are an outlet for creativity that would be wasted otherwise. What would you do if I told you to stop working on a story just because it wasn't a potential New York Times Bestseller?


I'm a horrible critic, so I'll just leave a few words for you. Work on your anatomy, and try to work especially hard on fine lines and coloring them. Your ideas are outstanding, you just need the drawing skills to make your potentially incredible region a reality.


And now I leave this post to let someone else with better criticism do what needs to be done.

I can't disagree and say they're fareer quality, but something about them, I don't know and i can't place my finger on it, makes it really easy for me to see these pokemon as actual pokemon, beyond the creator's artistic ability... almost like a while ago, when another artist was making a region and registeel ds redid some of the art to make people see the ideas for how great they really were, and I really think you've put a lot of time into this, I can't wait to see more of the ideas, i love all the name explanations, and my favorite is the ghosty legendary with three eyes... keep up the good work, and if you so choose to have your idea's expressed in a way that more people can understand them, all the better for you...
also, yeah they do remind me of roald dahl's work, its nice to see it...
