My Splices

Alright, well, I just started splicing yesterday, so I'm a beginner. I don't know if these are that good or not, so would you mind critiquing my work?

I chose the Pokemon at random, so some of them may not be the best combination's, but I just needed something to work off of.

Anyway, here they are.

I really like the Walrein/Salamence fusion! Manectric/Kecleon's good too! Everything else though..... Weeell, they could use some work. That Lapras is little more then a recolour with horns. Ditto for Ursaring. That Pikaralts is just..... bad.

Yeah, the Lapas and Ursaring were definitely not the best. They were hardly splices.

And the pikralts.. yeah.. I didn't really expect it to come out that great, since it was my first attempt at splicing. xD

As said before, you could have done more with the Lapras/Agron thing, and the Ursaring/Dratini and the Walrein/Salamence needs some outline work. But Manectric/Kecleon looks really good! Best of luck, and keep spriting-you have potential!!!

some of the outlines on your pokemon are missing

these are very C+P [copy and paste] which is bad - try to scratch parts of pokemon onto the sprites instead of just taking parts from a sprite and trying to fix them on another sprite, not even bothering to try and blend them properly.

I think they're good for a beginner, but I think you just need to work on making them seem more natural (as said, not just copy and pasting it).

Scratch means draw it on paint yourself. You're Salarein fusion and Manecleon are probably your best so far. Keep trying.

you draw the parts you want to carry over by hand - true this is difficult but the fusion looks a hell of a lot better when scratched well

i suggest you look around at other peoples fusions and see how they've either scratched or blended the parts together.

As people have said The manectric/Kecleon and the Salamence/Walrein are the best. And the rest all seem C+P like the horns on the aggrron/lapras which you could have scratched

Ever heard of not just copy and paste and instead scratch?
a fusion isnt a mix of copy and pasted parts but rather like 50% of the original pkmn 40% scrathced parts and 10% or less copy pasted parts
all of them are copy and pasted, parts you have placed arent re shaded at all.
also dont just copy pkmns from poke elite as since they are transparent much off the outline disepears. i suggest rather go to a sprite database and get a sheet whit all pkmns on
The wallrein one also lacks colored outline on the tusks

I'll go straight ahead and say they're not bad for a beginner, however there is no excuse for bad outlines, they kinda looked unfinished. Just look 4th one downs head, blue outline on a reddish head. Not lookin good. Aside from that they aren't too bad.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I decided to make a new sprite doing some scratching, making sure there's no outline missing, not doing as much copying and pasting etc. and this is how it turned out. Not sure if it's that good or not, though.

This is better! You've learnt to scratch a bit but try to do some with the same kind of bodyshape. This one looks a bit weird. Maybe Pikachu and Charmander?

Scratching some of it. Aren't we feeling a bit confident today. No, good decision, always nice to try some scratching as well as copy and pasting. It's not fantastic but it could've been done worse and good for a first try.
