There are several flat sprites in GRBY era, Pikachu is the one I remember the most though. Looking head on and well, yeah no detail like the cute n chubby pikachu's. And hey, I tried, but reposing it to look like it's facing you is harder than my talents can handle atm.
Meet Abette or Doomup. Still trying to choose a name. Abette from Pettite(sp) and Absol, or Doomup from Doom and Puppy
Anyways, the Absol prevo is born blind, with only it's four other senses, it has learned to cope, and even start to develop a 'sixth' sense. Which researchers now believe is what Doomup/Abette utilizes upon evolution to forsee the future.
Anyways, Growlithe/Absol splice with some edited parts and scratch parts.
Edit: and yes I ain't happy with the shading either, so expect a Abette/Doomup v.2 sprite soon. When I get around to making a male/female version.
what many people do wrong with pre-evo's, is that they make it to similiar to it's evo. And so is this one. Try to be more original, creative...
The shading isn't really good, no. Well, actually only on it's body, rest is ok. Shapes are good, could be a bit better, especially on it's horn and tail. Outlining is good too, I think that's your strong point

May I point out Pichu, Igglybuff, Pikachu, Charmander, Charmeleon and etc?
Very few pokemon actually look that different from their evolutions. Mean Dragonair is 'creative' and so isn't Remoraid...

Decided that the claws didn't fit, and got rid of them. But that's the only edit I'll do, as I was gonna do it anyways :/ updated the shading, and made a male/female sprite version, and kept the original in there as a base for everyone to see.

The Rayquaza/Tropius/Swellow mix is fantastic! He has an awful lot of character and I really liked how you made the three Pokemon work together like that. I know you said the arms were off- they looked okay, position wise, I just think that the shading differed too much. That's all that needed changing.
Abette is stupidly cute. I really like how soft it looks, its really appealing. Yes, its very similar to Absol, but personally, I don't like Pokemon who's evos look too different- I like to be able to see where features have come from. So I like him a lot

Steel Rain: Yeah, know what you mean, cause of how Octillary and Remoraid looked, I never knew the octo evolved from the archer fish XD untill that is I was training a Remoraid and got all WTF XD
And new sprite, not complete scratch as I used a screen shot from ZT2 to provide the base. But the tail is scratch. A sort of 'double' to Girafarig, a Normal/Psychic Zebra.

Karoon
Kangaroo+Maroon+Dragon
Both males and females have pouches that they use to protect newly laid eggs, and keep them warm, and to keep hatchlings/young Karoon's safe from predators such as Ekans and Seviper.
Karoons get from 5 feet tall to 8 feet tall, rare shiny Karoon's are sighted sometimes, and said to look like gold and silver statues untill they move.
Karoon is a Dragon/Steel type.
And a simple Dragonair chao.

When you edited it though it became more baby like. The shading on it's back was fixed up and good thinking on taking the claws away to make it more baby like
With the zebra, it should either have a darker outline or make the black to a dark grey.
Overshade, seems fine to me.
Doomup v.3 looked better with the mane. Now it looks a little too plain.
With the blue snakey thing, It's a bit confusing where the light source is coming from.
Blue dragon scratch, wow such an improvement. Posing, shading, colours.
I love those pixel overs, perfect to me. They may need shading editing but great still.
Dragonair Chao, really cute. I have never seen a chao like this before. I'd like to see more of these. Nice scratched parts as well.

On this sprite, I think you used Black outline in the wrong places, as it stands out more then the sprite itself.
Did I say the charizard was finished? -_- did I?
Charizard Crystal frame to D/P revamp on the left, original sprite on the right. As you can see it's not a simple recolor. While I admit it's not my best revamp, it sure the hell ain't a recolor ffs.
