My Standard Aquatic Team II

Not open for further replies.
I've decided to start with a clean slate and hatch every Pokemon on my team. I've deposited Kyogre and Latios to have an uber-less team. Here is a detailed description of all Pokemon that I've just hatched:

PLANNED MOVESET A: Surf, Thunder Wave, Attract, Confuse Ray
PLANNED MOVESET B: Rain Dance, Surf, Thunder, Thunder Wave

(Which is better?)

My last slot will go to a Spheal. I haven't managed to hatch one I like though... Would prefer Modest or maybe Timid...

CRITIQUE: I am open to move and item suggestions, however: I am not planning on starting any Pokemon over, and I do not have Emerald. Please give me movesets I am capable of achieving AND ones that would benefit from Emerald (I might get it for Christmas).

Ummm, how do you get Swampert with Curse? It's not a TM or level up move...

You breed it.

I meant other than that.... I was hoping it was a new Move Tutor in Emerald, but...

A Swampert without Curse is not a Swampert.

Hey, when Swampert uses Curse, it increases Speed, and what else?

Sorry, Primo. Curse LOWERS Speed, and raises Attack and Defense. Although since Earthquake is the extent of my Physical plan, it really wouldn't help my Swampert too much. (Note the Modest nature)

Just get a new Swampert. Modest is a crappy Nature because of Swampert's average Special Attack and poor Special movepool, and Mirror Coat is just waiting for some Sceptile/Ludicolo/Venusaur to come OHKO you with a Grass attack.

I want to see all the grass-types come out. That's the whole point of Mirror Coat. Just in case if anyone is stupid enough to open with a Sceptile, in which I open with Swampert, since Grass is its only weakness. I hatched about 50 Mudkips and chose this one, because I prefer Special over Physical. It's still powerful enough to OHKO Electric-types, and the extra Sp. Atk boost will let me OHKO slower Grass types, Tropiuses, and Jumpluffs. And I suppose my Swampert is a Raichu because it doesn't have Curse?

Swampert cannot mirror coat grass attacks because it is 1HKO'ed by them

Swampert gets OHKO'd by Sceptile's Leaf Blade.

Ice Beam > Grass types.

Physical Swampert > Special Swampert.

Swampert - Curse = A really ugly Quagsire.

If you want special over physical, then you don't want Swampert (or any Water type starter save Blastoise). You want Gorebyss or Omastar.

I know there are more "special" Water Pokemon out there, but I like my Swampert because it's Modest, but still has a good attack (2nd highest stat), and has a high number of Sp. Atk IV's.

But Swampert has a sucky Special movepool. >__<

Surfin' is Fun!

Surf and Ice Beam work like charms. Mirror Coat is there when I need it, and earthquake is still enough to OHKO pesky Tentacruels and Lanturns, and other commonly used phenomena. Two Good solid special attacks are suitable enough.

MILOTIC
Level 42
Modest/Bold Nature
EV SPREAD: 55 Def/255 S.Atk/100 S.Def/100 Speed
Needs a LOT, I mean LOT less special attack, and a whole lot more HP

HP: 133
Attack: 50
Defense: 85
Sp. Atk.: 128
Sp. Def.: 127
Speed 89

Surf, Ice Beam, Mirror Coat, Recover
I guess its okay, but I personally think Hypnosis is better than MC

MANTINE (Swift Swim)
Level 38
Gentle Nature
EV SPREAD: (Something like) 107 Def/248 S.Atk/100 S.Def/55 Speed

HP: 100
Attack: 45
Sp. Atk.: 100
Sp. Def.: 138
Speed: 74

Surf, Ice Beam, Raindance, Attract (Will replace w/Confuse Ray)
Needs Less Sp.atk and more in Sp.def. Haze can go over attract/CRay due to Double Team

LUDICOLO (Swift Swim)
Level 24
Bold Nature
EV SPREAD: HP 55/Defense 100/S.Atk 255/S.Def 100

HP: 76
Attack: 36
Defense: 48
Sp. Atk.: 65
Sp. Def.: 61
Speed: 44

Raindance, Leech Seed, Dive, Giga Drain
Again, too much Sp.atk. Needs a lot more HP

MARSHTOMP
Level 24
Brave
EV SPREAD: Attack 100/Sp. Atk 255/Sp. Def 100/Speed 55

HP: 67
Attack: 47
Defense: 41
Sp. Atk.: 57
Sp. Def.: 45
Speed.: 35

Surf, Ice Beam, Earthquake, Mirror Coat/Rest
You wasted Earthquake on this???!!! He learns EQ naturally at level 52

CHINCHOU
Level 5
Calm Nature
EV SPREAD: Not yet PLAN: 150 Def/100 S.Atk or HP/150 S.Def/110 Speed

HP: 23
Attack: 7
Defense: 9
Sp. Atk: 11
Sp. Def: 12
Speed: 13

PLANNED MOVESET A: Surf, Thunder Wave, Attract, Confuse Ray
PLANNED MOVESET B: Rain Dance, Surf, Thunder, Thunder Wave
B is better

(Which is better?)

My last slot will go to a Spheal. I haven't managed to hatch one I like though... Would prefer Modest or maybe Timid...

Quiet/Brave
