Keydeus, California, a rather regular town off the coast of the state. Nothing particularly great or noteworthy has happened here since its founding, like a great many a town. Although it is known for its diverse people from the, well, many kinds of people who conquered, retook and then signed a treaty to live there for whatever reason, leading to things like an old Christian church building right beside a Chinese temple and a new hi tech office building.

With diverse people, there are diverse interests and plenty of people with the same interest. This was what formed the supernatural and mythology club at St. John High School in August, 1997, better known as the super-myth club for short. The club was originally founded by a bunch of friends who believed in cryptids and wanted to prove their existence but ended up just giving up on it and kept up the club.

The year is now 2016. At March, St. John High School celebrates its 75th anniversary and its students and staff are holding festivities. As the town wide celebration goes on, some strange things happen. Items are in very odd places for no reason, some places or equipment get broken with little explanation and some kids outright vanish, worrying their parents, and then come back, none the wiser. But with no one getting hurt, and most people busy with the celebration, it was mostly written off.

Except for you, a member of the super-myth club. You had accidentally caused one of those odd things to happen...with your suddenly gained powers. Whether it be seeing the souls of the dead and freaking out from it, producing electricity and short-circuiting an appliance, or even summoning a specific creature that broke a few things, you can do something you know that wouldn't be so unbelievable in a superhero story.

Ever since then, you and the rest of the club know you have powers, whether from telling each other or others finding out. Fortunately, you're not alone, as your fellow club members are in similar positions. Strange things had been happening across the town. The accidents that happened during the celebration were occurring even though you or the club weren't the cause of it. There have also been supposed sightings of cryptids.

One of the club members, a girl named Anima, suggested they get to the bottom of their powers, starting by finding out more about the sightings. After all, their powers just popped up right before them, maybe it had something to do with them.

Somewhere, an ancient eye opens for the first time in centuries.

    Mythos: The Return of Magic

At the start of the RP, our intrepid heroes are at the farm of the Ceresa family on a Saturday night, a farm right at the edge of town, two weeks after the celebration. Anima's family is good friends with them and so offered to help find out what's killing their livestock. This Earth is pretty much the same as ours, at least for now...

    Ancestors and your Powers
In this RP, the powers your character has will be tied to whatever mythological ancestor you've chosen. In this case, it won't be just gods and godesses (though I have a feeling a majority of you will chose such), but all things that are mythical or in some sort of legend. Those include demi-gods (like Hercules/Herakles, Perseus and Gilgamesh), monsters that involve humans (like vampires, werewolves, ghosts and spirits) and even "normal" people (like Beowulf, Medea, Springheel Jack and knights from Arthurian legends). Named mythical creatures (like say the Greek Sphinx) and others will be dealt with individually if it ever pops up.

The powers have to be tied in some way to the ancestor. If you want to include a famous item they have, like say Arthur's Excalibur, they can't have the actual thing but they can create a construct that has similar powers to the original. Their powers, if you want, can also manifest as a seperate "being", a la Persona, that has very limited intelligence.

The cut off for mythical people is the Victorian era. Any "myth" beyond that isn't allowed. And you don't know you're descended from a mythical being yet.

    Super-myth Club
The club was founded at St. John High School by a bunch of friends wanting to prove the existence of cryptids but soon gave up on it. Its current leader, a one Hansel Christina Andrewson, is currently on the other side of the US in New York due to family matters. Because of this, the club has more have been friend gatherings than anything else for now and didn't do much during the celebration. The current secretary is Salazar Daniel Drake. The club gathers in two places, their club room in the school and a club house in the forest near the north east outskirts of Keydeus.

    Hansel Christina Andrewson
Current leader of the super-myth club. She's a medium built girl who's eighteen years old. She has black hair that's long, reaching past her shoulder blades. She dresses in casual attire--though she usually a wears white petticoat over her shirt and her pants are usually brown. She always has a scarf on and wants to be a writer some day. She's also a rather open minded and laid back individual who, despite being the leader, doesn't really impose her leadership that much.

    Marti Geriro
A nineteen year old woman of Philippine ancestry. She's fit and relataively muscled, she has short dark brown hair that looks a bit messy and light brown skin. She wears a white shirt and blue pants with a red hooded jacket over her shirt. She can summon four horses, each with their own names, that can breath fire. She can also summon a spear and shield.

A mysterious young blonde girl wearing a blue mask, a white trenchcoat, blue clothes, black boots and a brown string necklace. She seems to be on the Super-Myth Club's side seeing as she's with Hansel. She can summon a glowing sword that can withstand much and is powerful, being able to slice quite a number of materials and even shoot waves of light, and she's much stronger and more proficient in battles. She's descended from the legendary King Arthur.

    Choker Chain
A young man wearing a brown string necklace, he has a lean and muscled build and is wearing, strangely, a blue tracksuit and a mask over his mouth that looks like a muzzle. He has blond hair and seems to have an insane look to his red glowing eyes. He has the speed and strength of a predatory animal and can summon a blood red spear. Seems protective of Magi Fae and calls her Mist. Apparently his real name is Mark. He's descended from the Irish hero, Cúchulainn.

    Magi Fae
A young woman wearing a brown string necklace, she has a medium build and wears a rather long green dress with white floral patterns with long sleeves. She has blonde hair reaching her shoulder blades and her eyes are glowing red. She's a powerful sorceror, mainly casting holy magic, support spells and water attacks. Seems close to Choker, calling him Mark. Apparently, her real name is Mist. She's descended from the Athurian character, Morgan le Fay.

    Keydeus Town
Keydeus, California, a rather regular town off the coast of the state. Nothing particularly great or noteworthy has happen here since its founding, like a great many a town. Although it is known for its diverse people from the, well, many kinds of people who conquered, retook and then signed a treaty to live there for whatever reason, leading to things like an old Christian church building right beside a Chinese temple and a new hi tech office building.
    Sub locations:
    • St. John High School: The building itself dates back to after the Civil War, but wasn't used as a school until 75 years ago. It's also one of the main places teenagers go for high school in Keydeus. Located at the middle east end of the town, as the name suggests, the school was run mostly by religious brother and nuns. Now, only the school principal and a few teachers are considered such. The school also has the most famous clubs, particularly its music club, the Classicals, the aforementioned super-myth club, and its biker club, the Masked Riders.
    • Ceresa Farm: A rather large farm north east of Keydeus.
    • Wanderer's Forest: A forest west of the Ceresa Farm and north to north west of Keydeus. There's a cave at the west end of the forest that has tunnels connected to the beach at the bottom of Highcliff Coast. At the most eastern part of the forest is a treehouse the first super-myth club members used. The club house is still used though only because Hansel likes to use it on occasion for "secret" meetings.
    • Highcliff Coast: At the west of Keydeus, as its name suggests, the cliffs are high and in most spots can't be climbed up or down without climbing equipment. There's only a few spots that one can use to go to the beach at the bottom, one of them called Pirate's Path, at the south part of the cliffs, called such because it was believed pirates made that path.
    • St. John's Church: A church located at the south east end of the town, south of St. John High School.

An Egyptian god, his main responsibilities involve death. He acts as Ancient Egypt's Grim Reaper, one of the four judges to see whether people are worthy for afterlife, god over embalming and guardian of pharoah tombs. Accounts vary on who're his parents. He's usually depicted as a man with a jackal head.

A knight of the Round Table, his character greatly depends on the story, but for the most part is portrayed as a good but quick tempered knight. In the Lancelot-Grail Cycle, one of the sets of manuscripts detailing Arthurian legend, his father is a king of Hungary and his mother is the daughter of an Eastern Roman Emperor. When fighting, he often does so frenzied and berserk. He was also prone to epileptic bouts.

A women from Greek and Roman mythology. It's said she became boastful over her weaving skills to the point that she was better than Athena, goddess of war and crafts, among other things. The two had a competition to see who's better. Accounts of whether she wins or loses varies, but no matter the outcome of the competition, she's turned into a spider by Athena.

A powerful wolf from Norse mythology. He's the son of the shapeshifting god, Loki. It's said when Rägnarok, Norse's counterpart of Armageddon, comes, he's to kill Odin during the fight. Because of that prophecy, they wish to bound him. After he broke two extremly strong chains, they managed to do so with an enchanted one made of silk. But Tyr, the god of justice, loses his right hand in the process.

A Greek goddess, she's Hades' wife and thus queen of the his realm. She's the daughter of goddess of nature and crops, Demeter. She ended having to stay in the Underworld after Hades kidnapped and, after spending some time there, ate six pomegranate seeds. This is what the Greeks thought why half the year is plentiful while the other half is barren because Demeter is with her daughter in the first half and without her in the second.

Rigvedic (or Hindu) god of sacrifice, fire and divine knowledge. In his Vedic origin, it's said he first appeared from a river wreathed in flames, so he's also associated with water. One of his responsibilities was distributing and holding energy as well as burning down demons. It's also said he can purify things.

A Greek goddess mainly over beauty and love. She's the wife of Haphaestus though, in most accounts save one, not by her choice, hence her many lovers, the most notable being Ares. Aphrodite doesn't like having her beauty being challenged, especially by mortals and would go through great means to get rid of offenders. Psyche is one of the few exceptions.

    Vlad the Impaler
Otherwise known as Vlad III Dracula, he was a ruler over Romania during the th century. Hence his title, he was known to impale his victims, alive and breathing. The original wasn't actually called a vampire or called one but is speculated to have influenced a book written in the 1830s to 1840s about a vampire using his last name, the infamous Count Dracula.

One of the Twelve Olympians, specifically the god of wine and, in short, partying. Accounts vary whether he's purely divine or partially divine. (More info to be added later)

A hybrid creature from Greek myth. Accounts vary on what animals exactly make it up, but the depiction of a lion with an extra goat head with its tail being a snake is the most known. Also happens to be able to breath fire.

An Aztec god usually in the form of a winged feathered snake. (More info to be added later)

A bird associated with fire and rebirth. It's said that when it dies, it turns into ash and is then just reborn. (More comprehensive version of info likely to be done later)

One fourth man, three fourths god, he's the epic hero from Babylonian story, "The Epic of Gilgamesh". He was the king of Uruk and he had many adventures with his friend, Enkidu. But when Enkidu died, he went on to search for eternal life.

A yokai in the form of a cat with two tails. It's said they're normal housecats who gained powers with age and are even more powerful when mistreated before they became a nekomata. They're associated with death and are believed to resurrect the dead through dance. They're also associated with strange fires and other stange occurances.

A person made from clay and water by the Babylonian gods as a counter balance to Gilgamesh. He lived in the wild until Shamshat came to him and civilized him. He then wrestled with Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh won but the two became good friends.

Foxes with mythical powers in Japanese folklore, the most well known of which is being able to turn human. They're often portrayed as tricksters but have also been depicted as loyal friends ane wives. The more tails they have signifies their age and wisdom.

The Greek and Roman god of light, prophecy, arts and many other things. He's the son of Leto through Zeus and the twin brother of the goddess, Artemis, usually the "younger" one by a few minutes. Apollo is skilled in quite a few things, including using a bow and arrow, and has quite the number of lovers--both female and male.

The Greek virgin goddess of the hunt, the night and childbirth. Her Roman counterpart is Diana. She's the daughter of Leto through Zeus and the twin sister of the god, Apollo, usually the "older" one by a few minutes and actually helping her mother give birth to him, hence her role in childbearing. She never wanted to fall in love with a man, but there was one account of her falling in love with the hunter, Orion, whose death varies but ended up as the constellation we all know afterwards.

The Roman god of the Underworld, the dead, and of wealth. His Greek counterpart is Hades. Often confused as the embodiment of death itself and thought to be evil because of being associated with death. Though seeing what his job was and how well he did it, it's unsurprising that such happened. Because the realm of the dead was believed to be underground, he had access to all the jewels and precious metals of the world, hence his association with wealth.

Said to be the souls of people who haven't passed onto the next life, it's usually because of some strong emotion keeping them in the world of the living. There are many different interpretations, powers, and stories of ghosts throughout the centuries and across counties, making them as varied as mythology itself. Though strong emotions keeping the soul on Earth can be true for the type of Chinese ghost called hungry ghosts, who, as the name suggests, hunger for something that they were arrogant about in life. (Info to be double checked)

    Evil Eye
    (Info to be added)

    (Info to be added)

The Greek god of war's brutality, he often rode into a fight in a chariot with some of his children with four horses that spew fire. He is also most well know for being the lover of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. Because of this association with that side of war, and the Ancient Greeks' dislike of it, the times Ares was shown in myths were often him in humiliation, unlike Athena. From whining about being hurt in the Trojan War to him and Aphrodite being show in public while they were in the middle of something intimate, Ares rarely was shown positively. The only myths where he lives up of his supposed strength are the times when his daughters, particularly the Amazons, or his mother are in danger.

    Hey, this is up!

I'm excited to get going, I'll try and make a post once the thread goes up but I may wait for more people to post. And for relationship wise, I'm pretty open for Arsi's relationships. I'd really like for her to have a crush/someone she constantly flirts with if anyone's interested in that. Otherwise she's pretty friendly so it's likely she gets along well with most of the club. (Some people might be turned off by her boastful attitude though.)
  3. Vern

    Vern Why not both?

YES! IT'S HERE! (It's kind of pathetic that I've been doing nothing except wait for this to come up for the last two days.)

I don't really have anything in mind for relationships. I'm glad that there's an Enkidu here as well... I would sure like to have some sort of relationship with him, but I'm not sure about that. Sullivan is probably going to have a few enemies...

Sorry I haven't finished my SU yet. A close coworker to me was fired Monday so I've been pretty unmotivated. I'll def get it done this weekend. ^__^

My character is going to be a bit withdrawn so she (assuming I'm sticking with "she") won't have a large friend circle, but I'm open to her having a few friends! I think her and Quinn (@Sequel) should be rivals because Athena vs Arachne. xD

André Bellamy, Movie Star and descendant of a Love Goddess is here for anyone's romantic needs.

Or, you can buck the trend, and actually be friends. After all you two are not Athena and Arachne merely their descendants. :p

You're character should have an inexplicable fear of spiders.

I want to say on here real quick that whenever the main thread might go up, I'm gonna be going to EVO today and tomorrow, so expect me to be a little inactive at first.

Cometstarlight What do I do now?

Whoo, discussion thread is up! As for Chloe's relationships, she's become pretty open, but may be put off by arrogance. Other than that, I'll re-read the sign ups and try to form a better idea.

I realize I don't actually have the personality section of my character up yet, but Quinn and my character are going to have some personality conflicts which makes sense considering we both based our personalities on our ancestors from what I can tell.

Also, my character is gonna be kind of a prude, so that should be fun for Andre. :p
  10. Sketchie

    Sketchie it's about the CUBES

I also apologize for being so late with my SU's. Derek's is a few paragraphs from being done, I'll get that up in the next hour. (I was going to say I apollogize because ahaha apollo but I am serious, so I didn't.)

Derek mighy not be the descendant of the love goddess, but he is the descendant of the bisexual pretty boy god, so he's also down for the romance. Artemis was acearo, but I'm probably going to make Lexa a lesbian. I don't know just yet.

André's milkshakes brings everybody to the yard.
They're like, it's better than yours
Damn right, it's better than yours
He could teach you, but he'd have to charge.
  12. Sketchie

    Sketchie it's about the CUBES

I mean... sure... whatever... you can definitely think that... but I mean, go look up how many lovers Aphrodite had (11/12 recorded) compared to Apollo (over 60-70 recorded)... it becomes clear who is the real casanova... who's milkshakes REALLY bring everyone to the yard...

And that is Derek. Tall, blonde, Dutch, arts student, what more could you ask for?

(also, Aphrodite only did it with guys, she was definitely all hetero. Apollo seemed to care for his male lovers far more than his female lovers, but he still had plenty of both.)

Not according to my headcanon. I would imagine a Goddess of love and beauty could appreciate beauty in all genders. :p

But André himself is bi. :p André is also tall and blonde, not to mention French, rich, and famous! :p Not just a mere student.

Stop trying to compete with me plz!

Greek mythology trumps headcanon though. :p

Derek's taller, knows French (but lemme tell you, Dutch is better), is also well off, and you might have him on the famous part, but can André play nigh any stringed instrument he touches, not just because of godly heritage but also because he's been playing them for years and years and they all started bleeding together? Mmm, nee, ik dacht van niet.

I will now stop competing with you. (And honestly? I think they're probably on a similar level, if not the same level.)

Do you know how many variations of these Myths there are. :p I'm Aphrodite is Bi in something. :p

French already has the reputation of being the language of love. André has plenty of other talents he learned from movie sets.

No seriously, stop trying to compete with me plz. >.<

We're really bad at waiting for each other to edit, aren't we?

Honestly, if you're okay with this, I'd rather Derek and André be friends. They have a lot in common, and it would make sense for them to get along.

Also, the school could be doing Pippin for their musical, and Derek could be the Lead Player and André could be Pippin, because the dynamic there would honestly be perfect. And André would make a really good Pippin.

Awww yis the discussion thread's up!

I know what I'm doing with Ana - Jean Grey and I have been discussing Daciana and Ana having a little/big sister dynamic between them considering that they could both be classed as predators. Not sure what I'm going to do with Christine, though. I'm sure she'd probably get along with everybody considering her fanciful nature. If someone makes a Hades descendent then maybe that could go somewhere~
