Keydeus, California, a rather regular town off the coast of the state. Nothing particularly great or noteworthy has happened here since its founding, like a great many a town. Although it is known for its diverse people from the, well, many kinds of people who conquered, retook and then signed a treaty to live there for whatever reason, leading to things like an old Christian church building right beside a Chinese temple and a new hi tech office building.
With diverse people, there are diverse interests and plenty of people with the same interest. This was what formed the supernatural and mythology club at St. John High School in August, 1997, better known as the super-myth club for short. The club was originally founded by a bunch of friends who believed in cryptids and wanted to prove their existence but ended up just giving up on it and kept up the club.
The year is now 2016. At March, St. John High School celebrates its 75th anniversary and its students and staff are holding fesitivities. As the town wide celebration goes on, some strange things happen. Items are in very odd places for no reason, some places or equipment get broken with little explanation and some kids outright vanish, worrying their parents, and then come back, none the wiser. But with no one getting hurt, and most people busy with the celebration, it was mostly written off.
Except for you, a member of the super-myth club. You had accidently caused one of those odd things to happen...with your suddenly gained powers. Whether it be seeing the souls of the dead and freaking out from it, producing electricity and short-circuiting an appliance, or even summoning a specific creature that broke a few things, you can do something you know that wouldn't be so unbelievable in a superhero story.
Ever since then, you and the rest of the club know you have powers, whether from telling each other or others finding out. Fortunately, you're not alone, as your fellow club members are in similar positions. Strange things had been happening across the town. The accidents that happened during the celebration were occuring even though you or the club weren't the cause of it. There have also been supposed sightings of cryptids.
One of the club members, a girl named Anima, suggested they get to the bottom of their powers, starting by finding out more about the sightings. After all, their powers just popped up right before them, maybe it had something to do with them.

Mythos: The Return of Magic
And there you go, that was the intro to the RP. If you decided it was too long or whatever reason to skip it, the gist is that you're a student of St. John High School and a member of one of its clubs. This one interested in the supernatural and mythology and you have powers right now. You live in this town in California called Keydeus and your club is going to get to the bottom of why you have these powers, starting with finding out about the stranges sightings across the town.

At the start of the RP, our intrepid heroes are at the farm of the Ceresa family on a Saturday night, a farm right at the edge of town, two weeks after the celebration. Anima's family is good friends with them and so offered to help find out what's killing their livestock. This Earth is pretty much the same as ours, or at least for now... More details will be on the discussion thread whenever I get it up.
Ancestors and your Powers
In this RP, the powers your character has will be tied to whatever mythological ancestor you've chosen. In this case, it won't be just gods and godesses (though I have a feeling a majority of you will chose such), but all things that are mythical or in some sort of legend. Those include demi-gods (like Hercules/Herakles, Perseus and Gilgamesh), monsters that involve humans (likeplease dont kill me vampires, werewolves, ghosts and spirits) and even "normal" people (like Beowulf, Medea, Springheel Jack and knights from Arthurian legends). Other mythical creatures (like say the Greek Sphinx) and others will be dealt with individually if they ever pop up.
The powers have to be tied in some way to the ancestor. If you want to include a famous item they have, like say Arthur's Excalibur, they can't have the actual thing but they can create a construct that has similar powers to the original. Their powers, if you want, can also manifest as a seperate "being", a la Persona, that has very limited intelligence.
The cut off for myths and legends is the Victorian era. Any "myth" beyond that isn't allowed. And you don't know you're descended from a mythical being yet.
Super-myth Club
The club was founded at St. John High School by a bunch of friends wanting to prove the existence of cryptids but soon gave up on it. Its current leader, a one Hansel Christina Andrewson, is currently on the other side of the US in New York due to family matters. Because of this, the club has more have been friend gatherings than anything else for now and didn't do much during the celebration. The current secretary is Salazar Daniel Drake.

RULES
- General forum and RP rules apply.
- No godmodding, no bunnying and ESPECIALLY no metagaming.
- This is probably unneccessary, but I'll say it anyway, REFRAIN FROM USING FIGURES FROM MODERN RELIGIONS. That's just asking for trouble.
- In short, be nice to everyone involved and don't be the one that forces me to make more rules.

General Guidelines
- I'll allow a maximum of two characters. Anything beyond will be handled on a case by case basis.
- I'll allow you to reserve a mythological figure before anyone else chooses them but I'll only keep it up for a week and then the figure will be up for grabs.
- Power levels will be about low to mid. As we progress through the RP, we could get more powerful. But that's it for now. If you want something a bit more definite, our characters will start at or below Tier 3 of the Super Weight scale on TV Tropes.
- The only powers I won't allow are seeing the future (because that would be a nightmare to work out), time and or space stopping (self explanatory, I hope) and bringing back the dead (though not making the dead undead).
- I'll allow minor time travel like Tracer from the game Overwatch.
- Feel free to ask questions if you're still not sure about something.

Name: Anima Maria Juarez
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Mythical Ancestor: Anubis (Egyptian Psychopomp, God of the Dead, Guardian of the Pharoah's Tomb, God of Embalming and Judge of Souls)
Powers and Skills:
Protector of the Dead: She gets stronger when around the buried dead, like in graveyards, allowing her to protect the place. Right now, her strength will increase to being able to easily destroy concrete.
Powered Up 2X: Now her strength is easily superhuman whenever around the dead, instead of the buried dead.
Judge of the Heart: If she focuses her sight on someone, or living beings in general, she can see their heart's current basic intention in glowing colors. There's also a voice that also tells her what each color means. Unfortunately, it's not exactly mind reading. Say, she might know a person means to lie but she won't know what is it they're lying about. Or she can see the person intends to harm someone but she doesn't know who. Her eyes slightly glow white whenever she does this.
The Dead's Escort: She can travel to the Underworld through dead bodies, buried or not, human or not, and go back the same way. Because of this, she can see the dead and spirits. If anyone holds onto her, she can bring them to the Underworld and they end up seeing spirits too.
Powered Up 2X: Now she can travel to the Underworld anywhere (as microbes are always dying when we walk) as long as it's on the ground, though it would take a few seconds to get there than by using dead bodies.
Mechanical Prowess: She's rather good with things mechanical, like household appliances and even cars, being able to fix some problems. Don't ask her help for any digital problems for them though.
Trilingual: She can speak English, Cebuano and Filipino, though not as fluently with the last one.
Appearance: Anima is short, standing only at 4'7''. She has a lean and fit build from all the work on machines and running she does. Her skin's a light brown and her hands are callous. Her dark brown hair is medium length, reaching the base of her neck, and straight. Her eyes are a faded, almost icy, blue, which somewhat contrasts the smile she has on often.
Attire wise, it's rather plain and leans more on practical. Her t-shirt is usually just grey or white so she can see the smudges she might get while tinkering. Her pants are usually khaki brown with plenty of pockets for anything she needs to, well, pocket. They're also thick to protect her legs. She wears boots for this same reason. She wears a thick blue jacket for whenever it starts getting cold. For accessories, she has protective goggles around her neck whenever she's not wearing them, given to her by her father.
Personality: Anima is a cheerful and outgoing girl. Bubbling with energy, she likes to talk, a lot. She would often go on and on and on, not realizing she's rambling. This is especially if you talk about mythology. There's rarely a moment where she isn't talking. Even if there's no one around, she often talks to herself. Though she can stay shut, it's only when someone asks her nicely.
She's a fairly intelligent girl with a love of mythology and machines. She doesn't mind getting herself dirty or messy. But she's rather impulsive, leading to the many disassembled and reassembled appliances in her house. Combining with her energeticness, she often switches between things a lot and is known to run around the town, off to get parts she forgot to get or some other errand.
A friendly girl and easy to befriend, she's usually doesn't hold any grudges on anyone. She's also more than willing to be a shoulder to cry on. Other than her main interests, and not minding boys, she's what most would expect from a girl. She likes cute stuff, especially puppies and dogs, likes dressing up whenever she isn't tinkering (though she has a terrible fashion sense and taste and gets sick from makeup), and well, Disney movies (though her favorite is Brave).
History: Originally from Cebu City, Philippines, when she was four, her family--consisting of her parents, herself and five older siblings--moved to her father's hometown, Keydeus and Anima has lived there since. Her life was a lot more eventful with her family. That's what happened when one of her siblings was a prankster and military strategist wannabe, another a gymnast, another a chef and then herself, who dismantled stuff a lot.
But despite their differences, they were always close with each other and their parents. Meanwhile, they lived in a three story house where the first floor was the restaurant their mother ran while her father was a mechanic and hobbyist inventor. She quickly learned her love of machines from him and getting her screwdriver from him at nine years old. After going through elemantary, she went to the school her older siblings attended, St. John High School. It was there she found out about the super-myth club and joined on her first day at school.
Not much of note happened since then, except the occasional incident caused by her or her siblings. She became friends with plenty of members and saw new ones join as older ones graduated and left. Then at St. John High School's anniversary celebration, she was heading for the festivities. She was late, having been distracted, and on her way there, she passed by a car accident.
She looked at it in sadness, sorry for the victim, until she blinked in confusion. There were two of them, they looked exactly the same, and the other one was looking at her. He was also talking to her. He was asking her if he was really dead. She was confused and stared at him in scrutiny and was about to reply...until she suddenly saw something white glow in his chest and a feeling he was telling the truth, almost like a voice.
She panicked and ran off. She had to figure out what was going on. She went to an isolated spot...just as she saw the super-myth club's secretary make a divet on a rock. She quickly guessed they had superpowers and the rest of the club had them too. After the celebration, turns out they did. Unfortunately, they had little idea what to do with them (well, most of them). Then Anima heard about all the sightings. With the club's leader busy and nothing to do, she suggested they investigate this.
Other: She has a scwerdriver given to her by her father in her pockets all the time.
Name: Salazar Daniel Drake
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Mythical Ancestor: Sagramore (A Knight of the Round Table known for fighting like a berserker)
Powers and Skills:
Swordsplay: He gains the proficiency and natural skill to use a sword and is rather good at it.
Powered Up 2X: Now he's a rather skilled swordfighter. Not as much as a swordmaster, but still a threat nonetheless.
Rage Boost: If he fights or does anything out of anger, his strength is boosted. At maximum, he can easily destroy the strongest wood. His body also temporarily becomes strong enough to do those feats.
Powered Up 2X: Now he's as strong as the strongest normal human when he's annoyed and can easily destroy steel when he's angry. His durability has also increased in tandem with it.
Berserker: Whenever he's pushed past his anger threshold, he will go berserk. His strength is increased to the point of easily destroying concrete, his durability allowing him to take quite a few hits and do those feats and his reaction time is quicker, though that doesn't neccessarily mean he can easily dodge attacks.
Powered Up 2X: Now his strength is easily superhuman as well as his durability. He can also be reasoned with to calm down or tell who to fight.
Swimming: He's a rather good and strong swimmer, being able to carry at least one person with him if needed.
Climbing: From his hobby of rockclimbing, he's quite adept at it. But that's usually with climbing gear.
Appearance: Daniel is rather tall, stading at 6'3'' already, though that height is a bit shortened from how he always seems to be slouching. His coltish form is fit and he has a scar over his left forearm. His short blond hair is spiky and messy looking, more because it won't stay flat for long rather than from lack of grooming. His eyes are a serene green and his face is a bit angular.
For attire, despite the fact he comes from a rather wealthy family, he wears simple clothes. Though it's more from his activities than being a rebel. He wears a light blue shirt with a white coat over it. He wears black jeans and light blue and white rubber shoes. He also wears glasses to help him see. True, he could get contacts, but he tried them once. He didn't like them. The only thing that hints his wealth is his silver locket in the shape of a three pointed crown with a maroon metal chain, given to him by his mother.
Personality: Salazar Daniel comes off as a meek and almost doormat individual, staying in the sidelines, not protesting when someone wants his lunchmoney or when people throw insults at him. He's more than happy to help people with their projects or homework, the work usually piling up to the point that he exhausts himself on occasion. He often stumbles in conversations and comes off as always nervous.
In truth, it's because he's always keeping his very bad temper in check. He fears on accidently hurting others whenever he's angry and so tries his best to not be, even if the situation is justifiable. He has little to no confidence in himself and doesn't really think much of his life, guilty from the death of his mom.
Overall, he's friendly, gentlemanly, willing to help and cares a lot about others. He has a strong sense of justice but his lack of self confidence, especially in controlling his anger, usually means he can't do much other than maybe becoming someone's punching bag. He prefers to be called Daniel instead of Salazar. He also has this aspiration to travel around the world one day, but has mostly given up on that dream at his mother's death.
History: It's said that the Drake family had been residents of Keydeus since it's founding. Supposedly, they were a wealthy English family and they still are now, usually from running resorts. Daniel was the elder of two children to Drake heir Sebastian Kurt and his wife, Elizabeth. His little sister's name was Morgan Rayanna. He grew up rather normal, if a bit overconfident, during the early years of his life. He became rather close to his mom, who encouraged his dreams.
Then when he was eight years old, his father was on a business venture in Colarado. Bored as his sister was busy with her music club, he asked his mom to explore the nearby terrain and she came along with him. Unfortunately, being overconfident, he decided to go to this particularly unstable ground of a cliff. His mother warned him, but he got mad at her supposedly not believing in his skill and didn't listen. The ground gave way...just as he was pushed away and saw his mother fall.
He wasn't the same anymore, simple as that. His confidence absolutely broke down and he didn't want his anger to overtake him. He started being more quiet, more gentle...and more meek. His father and sister helped as best as they could, but they started getting worried for him. His little sister had him sign up in the super-myth club, probably the closest thing to his dream of travelling world, in the form of the world's different myths. He ended up becoming the club's secretary. He guessed because of his glasses.
It's been eight years since his mother's death and now something else happens. At the celebration of St. John High School's 75th anniversary, he was helping several stands and stores. After a while working, at the seventh he helped, his patience was waning, so when he was moving some crates in the back of the shop, with the shopkeeper's assistant nagging him, he got annoyed. He found he lifted the crate with ease all of a sudden.
When he realized this, he dropped it at the sudden weight gain. He was somehow annoyed at the assistant now chewing him out, upset with himself for getting annoyed in the first place, and shocked at the event at the same time. Afterwards, he went to an isolated spot a ways from the celebration to see if he could do it again. For the first few fifty times, nothing happened. He got frustrated and mad and then punched at a rock...and made a diver on it.
He was confused and upset at the fact his strength increased when angry. But before he could go and maybe ask help from his family, someone else who wanted to go somewhere isolated came along--it was Anima, a fellow super-myth club member. The next thing he knew, after the celebration, the entire club had powers. And then they're going to find out about these cryptids popping up.
Daniel has a feeling things aren't going to be the same anymore.
