"Careful," a young blonde woman said to a girl.
Gwen, the girl, did as her mother told her and gingerly placed her hands on the stone. The blonde girl smiled widely and traced her hands against the rock surrounding the statue. To be truthful, Gwen had no idea what the statue was exactly, but she knew it was an amazing find of some sort of ancient culture. She was glad to even be allowed near it. She knew it usually wasn't a good idea to really touch finds but she begged her mother to at least be close to it.
Behind her, she could hear the footsteps of someone heading towards her and her mother.
"Come on my dears, it's time for lunch," he said.
Gwen turned to to her father, blonde and wearing a brown string necklace, just like her and her mother, and said, "Look at this, Papa! It's so big! And they didn't even dig the whole thing out yet!"
Her father smiled and did as she bid.
He chuckled. "Yes, it is," he said. Then he looked back at her. "Now how about we go before the rest of the crew eats everything?"
"Okay," she said.
But just as she carefully steps away from the statue, another voice interupts them with urgency.
"Ma'am!"
She turned her head to the man, Lyle was his name, if she remembered correctly. He was studying under her mother. He looked panicked and was sweating.
"There's...some...sort...of..." he first said. Then he took a deep breath before he continued. "...creature buried here."
"What?" her father said.
"I'm not joking. See for yourself," Lyle said.
Her parents exchanged confused looks but followed him. Gwen followed too and since her parents weren't complaining, kept doing so. Eventually, they reached the farthest end of the excavation. Gwen couldn't help but look around with glee. She hadn't been to this part of dig site before. Then her eyes landed on what Lyle asked them to see. There was a part of Gwen who couldn't believe what she was seeing.
There was a giant reptilian head sticking out of the ground and it was breathing.
"What is that?" her father said.
Her mother went near the thing, examining it. She tentatively place a hand on the end of its muzzle. As soon as she did, it opened its eyes. It then turned its head in the direction of Gwen. Everyone was startled at that and took a few steps back. Suddenly, Gwen felt something push her back rather roughly. But she only stumbled and managed to regain her footing...just in time to see some strange glowing thing whiz past where she was and hit the creature.
The creature roared when the light hit it and the ground shook. Gwen held on to the closest rock to stop herself from falling over.
"Ah, so this is where you are," said an unfamiliar voice.
Gwen looked to see a man in rather normal clothes--jacket, slacks and rubber shoes--but he was holding a staff, the top tip of which had an elaborate carving of sorts. And not only that, but he was levitating. He was thus unimpeded as he went to the beast and then tapped his staff on its head. Gwen had to cover her ears as its roar turned into a blood curdling screech. Then it stopped. The ground stopped shaking too. She looked again to see that the creature was panting and the man was smiling.
The man then turned to face them. "You have my thanks for finding this and distracting it," he said.
Everyone was groaning, having trouble standing. Except for her father, who just shook his head, scanned the area with a confused look, then stared warrily at the man. Next thing she knew, her father was right beside her, holding her arms protectively around her. He was also growling.
"What's going on? What did you do?" he said. He shook his head again.
She had no idea why he sounded so angry. Though it probably had to do with the man being able to float. And that his staff was glowing, now that she had a more stable look at it.
The man arched an eyebrow before he had epiphany flash across his face. "Ah, I see..." he said. "Well, you're in luck."
He then raised his staff.
"I don't have to kill you."
Her father tensed then he pushed her away.
"Gwen! Run!"
She did as she was told. A part of her wished she didn't for once.

Daniel sighed and adjusted his glasses for the nthed time. He and many, if not all, of the members of the super-myth club were just outside the fence surrounding the large field nearby. The field was empty right now, but he knew it was where the Ceresa family's livestock would pasture. They were just inside their family barn right now, resting for the night.
And they had been waiting here for fifteen minutes already.
He wished he'd gone to ask permission instead Anima. He knew that she was...easily distracted. But he didn't feel like arguing. Especially considering she and her family were rather good friends with the Ceresas. So Anima went to ask to let the group check out what was going on. And here he was, waiting by the fence, hands in his pockets and with his club members.
Not that it was bad. Daniel didn't mind waiting. But it was more about his club members. He glanced at them. Not all of them were quite as patient, as far as he could tell. Especially Daciana. She could put any sailor to shame with her swears. Personally, there was a tiny part of him that envied her confidence, and Sullivan's as well, even if he did come off as...arrogant. But that envy would quickly disappear when he remembered what happened when he was little.
He thumbed his necklace. He would never forget.
It was at this point that Anima decided to show up, panting.

Well, she did it again. She got distracted and ended up rambling and nearly forgetting why she was here in the first place. Thankfully, she didn't get distracted that long. It was only fifteen minutes instead of one hour. That was an improvement in her book. She still rushed back to her group so they wouldn't have to wait any longer. She had to catch her breath first.
"Um... So...?" she heard Daniel say.
She raised a hand, telling him to wait. He was silenced immediately. Eventually though, she was able to speak.
"Howard said we can go ahead and check the corpses and the field out," she said. "Just don't stay up too late."
"Okay," Daniel said. Then he pulled out a flashlight from his pocket and turned it on, then he pointed it towards the field.
Anima just went to the gate, opened it and then went in. After everyone got in, whether through the gate or some other way, she closed it. Then she went on ahead of everyone but not before she shouted,
"Okay! Howard said the corpses are at the back of the barn! I'm gonna go check it out! Howard also said he left the spots where they were attacked untouched and with some wire fence around them 'cause the grass looked weird!"
