Ok as u have most likly noticed that each of the pokemon games has a third installment to the generation about a year after the first release of the generation. Like red, blue=yellow gold, silver=crystal ruby, sapphire=emarld diamond, pearl=??

this thread is to dicuss names of what d/p's third installment could be called. i've been thinking on the lines of opal or cubic zirconia.

Well, likely candidates are Topaz, Opal, as you mentioned, and Amethyst. If you remember that all three games make some sort of triangle, maybe someone could figure out, with Diamond and Pearl that is, what it's third counterpart could be? 'Cuz I don't really have a clue on this one.

Yikes. This thread again. We are once again desperate for new info. We clearly have become tired of the nine Pokemon we have now. D:

Anyways, who knows? At this point, I feel it's all up in the air. One thing I CAN say for sure is that...
cubic zirconia
...AIN'T gonna be the name of it. It's just...not.

red/blue/green/yellow = regular colours,primary colours etc
gold/silver = i think of bracelets
ruby/sapphire/emerald = i think of rings/earrings
diamond/pearl = i think of necklaces
SO i think the 3rd installment for this generation will be pokemon platinum

Durr...G/S/C were precious metals.

R/S/E were precious jewels.

D/P are precious stones.

"Bracelets", "necklaces", and "earrings"? o_O

dont bite my head off

Um...When, where, and how did I "bite your head off"? Humor me.

You're right. Crystal isn't a metal. Seems that the folks at Nintendo aren't ones for logic. I just doubt Platinum would fit for D/P, because it would really, REALLY seem odd to have it thrown in when you have Diamonds and Pearl. Then again, I can't see into the future, so meh.

Okay, he didn't bite your head off. If you just read what he wrote, he was just pointing something out .. sheesh ..

Anyways, about your comment on Crystal, as far as I know, Crystal is a metal .. *checks notes*

Edit: Well, I checked my notes, 8D, and happened to come across the fact that crystals are made from metals which are essentially 'crystallized'. Also, pearls and diamonds aren't metals to begin with. Diamonds are infact crystals themselves, and pearls are, well, something. =P But, to actually prove something here, neither of you are right. foxx thinks that crystal is not a metal, which essentially it is, and Ethereal agrees, yet he believes Platinum won't be the new third cartridge name. So .. meh. I don't think so either Ethereal. I would addume it be another gemstone, if anything.

Well, technically, Crystals aren't metals. They ain't on the perodic table of elements. That's mainly my only defense for my agreement. >_>

let's see.....the RBY were colors,GSC sounds like a more "this century" colors,RSE are stones and DP are valuable jewels stones, so the third installment should be....Jade??

Lol, SPAM, is right, my new 'chum'. Anyways, you're right about it not being on the periodic tables, so ... meh. Wtvr, it seems he left, so there's no point arguing between us superiors. [/stuck-upcomment]

ROFL.

Well most jewels are condensed crystalized metals, one of the more common being iron. When I think of a link between Diamond and Pearl, I think that they are both organic. I mean all Diamond is is highly condensed carbon molecules, and Pearls are made by oysters when they continuously coat a grain of sand they obtain off of the sea floor. But back to topic, I don't know what the third installment should be maybe something like Amber.

Eh. D/P has just f*cked itself over with it's name.
Unlike the previous games, Diamond and Pearl have nothing in common as far as their namesake is concerned. As opposed to primary colors, precious metals, and gems, we now have tightly packed and bonded carbon molecules and the result of a mollusk's defense against irritants entering it's tender innards. Overall, if you thought Gold and Silver to Crystal was a stretch, you had be prepared to eat crow becaue it had nor will it ever have anything on the lack of connection between the two upcoming games.

At best, the only connection I see is that pearls and diamonds are both highly sought after in today's society. ('A diamond is forever!') They become a status symbol; men buy it for their wives to appease them, the wealthy flaunt the vast amounts they own. That being the case, my best bet is that we find the third most sought after jewel (or precious metal), and we find the third piece of the triad.

I suggest Platinum. Sounds tacky and such, but it's the best I can make out of such flawed logic. ._.

Personally I'm hinging on another birthstone. Opal, Topaz, Garnet, or Zircon all seem likely to me.

... Hmm. It would be hilarious if it turned out to be called "Jewel version." Other than that, what everybody else said really. *insert rare and valuable object here*

sorry about earlier i was in a bad mood and snapped

ITS TRUE THAT CRYSTALS ARE MADE FROM METALS ON OCCASION BUT CRYSTAL IS SIMPLY THE NAME OF THE FORMATION ,YOU CAN GET ICE CRYSTALS FOR EXAMPLE. IT IS IN FACT BELIEVED THAT THE WORD CRYSTAL COMES FROM THE GREEK WORD FOR ICE

i completely agree with the organic idea and like the idea of poke amber

I agree with Ushi No Tane. Just think about it :
Pokemon : Platinum Edition

Like anything, platinum makes it sound like a special version (which it is).

Metal Force

o^_^o PWNZOME
How should we know?, anyways let D/P come first then will think of the game after it....speaking of the TI of corse it would be better in things than D/P.

Raticate

Jax the Crazy One
It could be Pokemon Jade...but then people who want the fake thing may accidently get the real one. LOL! Maybe not Jade...Platinum sounds cool.
