So don't you hate it when you are trying to think of a good character name for your story? You already used about a dozen of names so you don't want to repeat the same name.

Well, behindthename is a pretty slick site for names. Includes denotation and etymology, country/ethnicity-specific names, category-specific names (mythological, biblical, astronomical; even names appearing mostly in literature), and a whole bunch of fun tools; random name generator, anagram names, names sorted by themes ("earthy", "green", "flowery" etc), and names for twins. It also shows names by popularity through the last century (in certain countries), related names, namesakes and more.

In short, the best site for names on the net. The 'names sorted by themes' section is particularly handy for writers.

There are tons of name archives on the web, and no one is going to scroll through an insanely long and incomplete list of names when it's so incredibly easy for anyone with half a brain to just go to babynames.com or something and search for the one that fits their qualifications.

This brings inane to a new level, really.

The site you gave, http://www.behindthename.com/, isn't very reliable.

For example, I tried running my name through it, and while it got the nationality and gender correctly, it guessed the origin wrong.

My first name is Rui (to you Collosseum fans, Rui is a male portuguese name...), and the site said the name originated from an abbreviation of another name, Rodrigo, which is not true.

Rui actually comes from the Latin for "king", "rei."

But, truth be told, its still a rather useful site to google up some random names.
We just need to be sure on its origin through some other means...
