I'd say it'll be an interesting twist and a rather unique rivalry, 'cause there's never been a situation where Ash shares a rival with another person.

Well since we saw him in a contest and he does both contests and gyms, I see Nando as a friendly rival to both Dawn and Ash. Which does make the show quite interesting especially since it has never happened before. Hopefully we actually get to see him battle a gym leader like we did with Paul.
