Naruto Filler Arc (spoilers)

Kabuto

In the Japanese episodes of Naruto, an entire arc of fillers starts from episode 135 and is still going on up to 187. The fillers consist of the characters from the leaf village appearing on many missions that do not affect the main storyline. The fillers were good at first, but now I am tired of seeing the same faces of Neji, Kiba, Hinata, etc. Does anybody know when these fillers will end ? Discuss your thoughts.

I wonder how the US dub will handle the filler episodes. Must be the production crew is working on something big to be placing so many fillers.

As an interesting side note, due to the amount of fillers lately, the price of Naruto hanken sketch work has gone done the toilet. In December, there was a nice hanken set of young Itachi and Sasuke smiling that was sold on Mandarake for 8K. A recent batch of Naruto TV sketches went for about $200. That's quite a plummet.

They're just gonna dub the fillers. That's all. I'm gonna laugh at anyone who actually thinks they'll skip the filler arc, no matter how horrible it is.

The fillers were alright in the beginning but now it's just plain ridiculous.

As for the end, I heard September but nothing from reliable sources.

Nobody knows when the fillers will end, except for maybe the ones making them. But I bet it will go on for a long time still, because they need the fillers in order to prevent the Anime catching up to Manga. I mean, what would they do if it does catch up in a middle of a big fight? Start making fillers from there? Now is a good opportunity for them to make fillers.

And I don't get why people hate the fillers so much. To be honest, I like them, and don't mind them continuing. Because when the nonfillers start rolling again, almost the only characters who'll be shown are Kakashi's team, the bad guys of the show and maybe Gai's team a bit. Asuma's and Kurenai's team members'll be forgotten for a long time. And I enjoy seeing episodes of them too <3<3

So, before they've given Manga a huge lead, the fillers won't stop.

The fillers are just horrible.

I honestly wouldn't mind if they just skipped all of them in the dub when they reach the point of no return.

If that ever happened we'd have another inuyasha. To that I say Hell no. Fillers are fine but overdose of it is realleh realleh bad. I don't mind 16 more episodes of this though.

Unfortunately, Kishimoto's pacing isn't all that good (pages of closeups and ellipses ftl), which just exacerbates the problem.

What is good about the filler is that the anime crew are giving screentime to characters who don't get to do much (hell, some *coughHinatacough* barely even got to appear after the timeskip!) in the manga, and that's always a good thing...

The fillers are good because of characters that need screentime such as Hinata, and Kiba. Thats why I especially liked the ocean filler arc with Gamabunta and the Ninetailed fox. Though I don't understand why the sand group weren't in fillers yet (Yes, I read Part 2 of the manga). Also Kakashi should get much more screentime.

The downside to seeing old characters is that there are no new techniques that are allowed to be shown. Most characters do not know many techniques to begin with so that makes things worse. Also the storylines are usually mediocre and bland. Besides the fact that there was so much build up with Orochimaru and Akatsuki only to be inturrupted by the hidden village of the star. Also that Sakura knows barely any techniques and Sasuke is gone so the only member of the trio actually doing something is Naruto and his Rasengan that has appeared 1000 times by now.

I do understand that the anime was too close to the manga. Now, the anime is far from where they are up to in the manga so they should start Part 2 and Kakashi Gaiden soon.

I haven't seen any of the fillers (or any Naruto episode beside what has been shown in the dub), but the main reason people are upset is probably mainly because of how long Japan has been having all these fillers. I mean, 135 to 187 alone is an American season of Naruto right there, and that's a year's worth of episodes that have been anime exclusive. That doesn't automatically mean that the fillers are good, but it's just that there are so many at one time. Maybe the Japanese have been making these fillers not only to let the manga get more ahead, but so they can keep Naruto as a kid as long as they can before the timeskip.

Still, the manga is far ahead now, and even when the Japanese Naruto gets to the current chapter in the Japanese manga, the manga will be even further ahead. Whenever Naruto's anime gets back into the manga, it should be fine for a while longer.

I myself am beginning to hate those damn filler arcs, hopefully they'll end when the Kakashi Gaiden Arc is animated.

And as for the manga, it's already THAT far ahead. Sasuke can summon snakes and can do the Chidori Current, Naruto learned the Oodama Rasengan, Sakura now has monstrous strength, etc... I think it's already enough of a skip for the animators of Naruto to halt the production of filler episodes.

With Action Amusing!
No one knows when the fillers will end, It seems that sometimes a few episode titles are leaked and then everyone comes to the wishful thinking that the next episode after the named fillers will be the start of the real story again, I remember a lot of people being very excited about 182 being the last filler episode for that reason.

I just wish we could see something other than Naruto + a few randoms from the other teams. I woulod love to see something like Kakashi, Asuma and Kurenai going on some awsome, action packed Jounin rank mission or some made up heartbreaking back stories of characters who aren't mainstream enough to ever have such an episode in the main story (kinda like they did with Anko) or let's have a sneak peak at how Sakura is getting on with her training.

I've actually quite enjoyed some of the amusing one episode fillers, the one where Shino drinks the laughing potion was just so random it was funny and I loved that crazy one where the men pretended to be Gai and Lee, the Onbu a couple of weeks ago was so cute! But if a story goes on for more than a few epiosdes I start to get quite bored of it, for example that one with the samurai ghost just did my head in after a couple of weeks, this most recent one looks to be going the same way.

Character development in the fillers can only go so far as they don't want to spoil the surprise of things to come after the time skip, so I doubt in these episodes anyone is going to learn some rad cool new techniques... But I do wish they'd quit it with the rasengan abuse! The Rasengan, the ultimate kick *** move developed by one of the strongest ninjas Konoha has ever known, taught to a boy with a mysterious and legendary power who uses it to prove his strength to the new hokage. Now what is it being used for? ****ing mixing dough and paddling boats... NO!!! What a humiliation to the fourths memory!

I would presume the dub will dub these episodes as even when they're over they may still reappear, for example when we rejoined the normal story after the small filler story about the race in the Tea country, Sasuke had regular flashbacks about losing to Itachi but the fact that he couldn't beat Aoi while Naruto could was also featured which wasn't actually a bad addition and gave him more of a reason to want to fight with Naruto. As for these fillers, if we ever see any of the other characters having to help out Naruto in the main story I bet these fillers will be in some form of flashback.

I don't know how I would feel if they'd just stopped showing Naruto altogether for a year, I guess my interest for the show would be even less so in a way the fillers are a good thing. We're all wishing they would just get on with it, but there's nothing we can actually do about it so let's just wait it out.

Agreed. Not only that, but the effect of the attack seemed to wear off in the fillers. Originally, it ripped Kabuto's skin, and even after his cell regeneration, he was still powerless. Now, all it does if successful by some miracle is toss the foe a few inches.

Most of the comedy fillers can be interesting to watch but the missions aren't the same when they are not written by the creator of Naruto. The filler characters just seem so bland, and like I said the only teams we've seen in action are Team Gai, and the 7 rookies (Sakura, and Sasuke got no spotlight in fighting). Shame really, because I'd like to see how Sakura's healing is at this point. However, without Sasuke, the show is lacking alot. I'd want to see the Sharingan and Chidori in general but of course Kakashi (one of the most important characters which they have ALOT of techniques to work with from the Zabuza arc) barely shows up.

The fillers have given us episodes (as bad as some of them are) to keep us occupied. I can't really complain anymore and I can only hope that the arc ends soon. I just thought the episodes had a bit more potential.

I liked the fillers I watched, but then again, I'm a Hinata fan, and any chance to see Shugohakke Rokujūyon Shō is good to me!
