need help with my team

    Still working on my team and looking for comments.

    Magmar: Charcoal
    Cross Chop

    Swampert: Mystic Water
    Water Pulse
    Rock Smash

    Fire Blast

    Vileplume: Miracle Seed
    Petal Dance
    Solar Beam

    Curse (need recommendations)
    Night Shade
    Shadow Ball
    Ice Punch

    Steel Wing
    (Should I replace one of these with Aerial Ace)

    I'm sorry, but just no. Dragon Dance boosts physical attack, so Dragon Dance + 3 special attacks is a no-no on Salamence. Salamence can do a lot, but DD + special attacks is just silly. Also, Ice Punch on Swampert is silly when Ice Beam does more damage.

    Salamence can get both Aerial Ace and Dragon Dance from the same breeding chain, by starting with Swellows Aerial ace, then going to Swablu / Altaria and pick up Dragon Dance there by leveling Altaria, and then breeding with Salamence. Physical DD Salamence is a beast.

    Also, Crunch on Aerodactyl is a no-no. Aerodactyl isn't built to do special, go fully physical on Aerodactyl.

    Gengar shouldn't be using Night Shade, it's offences do more damage:

    Vileplume isn't my speciality, but it can run something like:

    -Sunny Day
    -Sleep Powder
    -Moonlight / Synthesis

    Swampert @ Leftovers
    -Ice Beam
    -Curse / Rest / Mirror Coat

    3 attacks + support move is fine for Swampert. It doesn't need Rock Slide when Ice beam already covers flying types and Surf already covers Fire types. Surf is better than Muddy Water because it has better accuracy.

    Magmar isn't really good, but if you want you can use it. It gets a better special movepool than most other fire types:

    My bad, I was thinking it raised speed and special attack, not speed and attack. But a move like Rock Slide or Earthquake could be a good substitute.

    I was going for more physical attacks with Swampert, since Rock Slide and Earthquake are both physical attacks. So that's why Ice Punch could make more sense. But since Ice Beam does have a base power of 20 points more than Ice Punch, they both could do a similar amount of damage, depending on how the Swampert is raised. Swampert does naturally have a higher physical though.

    Are you sure? It says it has physical contact in the Attackdex made for the 3rd gen.

    Making physical contact only makes a difference for certain abilities, namely Poison Point, Static, Flame Body, Effect Spore, Cute Charm, and Rough Skin I think. It does not have anything to do with the attack calculating on physical stats or specials. In 3rd gen all Normal, Ground, Flying, Fighting, Steel, Rock, Ghost, Bug, and Poison attacks are physical while all Water, Grass, Fire, Dragon, Ice, Psychic, Dark, Electric attacks are special. All attacks follow this rule, all of them.
