Needed types in FR/LG

Which 6 Pokemon types do you need for a "complete" team?

I usually choose:
Fire
Water
Grass
Flying
Electric
Psychic

Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

Is there a "Basic Set" of 6 types of Pokemon to use? What types do you normally use in your party?

Thanks.

Those, I say, is a complete team. What you need to do for each of those Pokémon is to have either a second type and / or different types of moves for each Pokémon. Take Blaziken for instance, it's a Fire and Fighting-type Pokémon. You can teach it offensive moves like Blaze Kick/Flamethrower/Fire Blast, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Thunderpunch, Sky-Uppercut/Brick Break. I'm more than an offensive attacker, because that's what I do. I am always a DD (Damage Dealer) in RPGs or a Tank (not for Pokémon; Final Fantasy XI) because I'm good at it.

Like I said, it's good to have duel-type Pokémon with different types of moves. You can cover A LOT of weaknesses with that type-team you just described on your first post.

i always use a ground and fighting type, since fighting is the only type good against normal and ground for electric. after that i usually take a water and flying type for their hms.
then i either grab an electric or grass type, and then a ghost or dark type for type matchups

Psychic
Electric
Water
Flying
Fire
Fighting

I use those 6 primarily. If I go with Bulbasaur at the beginning, I ditch water.

Kind of depends what there is at the start of the game since I like to get my pokemon early and keep them around, I have to say though - I'm not entirely sure why this is in the FR/LG forum when it applies to all pokemon games.

Grass
Water
Fire
Ground/Rock

There kind of the needed ones for me, anything else comes down to preference - I try to get an electrical type if there's room, or a cool poison type, a psychic type, fighting type - really depends. Poison is probably the least likely to use as I'd probably have it as a second trait rather than a primary trait pokemon.

The pokemon types I use always differ depending on my team. I don't really have a 'basic set' of types, as I just choose pokemon to fit different roles. Like I make my team like this : physical sweeper, special sweeper, physical tank/wall/sponge, special wall/tank/sponge, then the last two are usually baton passers/annoyers/phazers,ect.

But on every ingame team i make, I ALWAYS have a water type, one that uses surf and ice beam for dragons.

When I look over all my teams on each game, these are the types that commomly appear:

~Water
~Grass
~Psychic
~Steel
~Ground
~Fighting

^Those are some of my favourite types!^

To PkmnBreederLuke: This is just in FR/LG because at the time, that was where my mindset was. I'm currently creating a team for LG.

To Everyone:

Thanks for the input, some of you use types I never even really think about.

Turner

Vagabond
Fire/Flying
Electric
Rock/Ground
Poison
Grass/Fighting
Water/Ice

Um... that's my current team... but it's always up for grabs.. I mean, my water/ice might be replaced with a plain old water... or my grass/fighting might be replaced with a grass, or grass/bug, or grass/poison, or even a grass/flying... in which case, my fire/flying would be replaced with a fire/dark... Sometimes even still I replace my poison with a poison/ground - or my rock/ground with a normal... I mean, of the 17 pokemon I'm training, it's all dependant upon my mood as to who's in my team.

I don't really care about the types of pkmn. I look at it in battle, but I don't build a team on it. I look at the pkmn, which ones do you want to use? And of course, you shouldn't have more than two of the same type in your team (except flying, most ubers/legendaries are half-flying).

i almost always use this:

Fire - Ninetales
Electric - Electabuzz
Grass - Venasauer
Water - Starmie
Psychic - Alakazam
Ghost - Gengar

with this on lv45 and the right moveset you will easly sweeep the e4

usually this ...

Fire
Water
Dragon / Flying
Electric / Grass
Normal / Fighting
Psychic / Ghost / Bug

If Charizard

Water - Gyarados
Flying - Dragonite ( for electric attack ) and Aerodactyl
Normal - Snorlax
Ghost - Gengar

If Venusaur -

Water - Lapras
Fire - Either Rapidash or Arcanine
Flying - Dragonite
Bug - Venomoth / Butterfree
Fighting - Machamp

Never go Blastoise , not even once ..... cause I found it boring to use and beside there are so many water type to choose from .

I don't arrange teams, but from the top of my head, I'd say the basic types and throw in a good steel type just to see the opponent suffer "not very effective" MANY times.

At least that's what I do.
