Netflix's Live Action Pokemon Adaptation in the works

Okay... thank you for this live action show nobody asked for? Same thing with PPG girls some cartoons need to just stay cartoons. Anyway where is our Avatar the Last Airbender show we've been promised for months?

I don't have high expectations for this, because I have a feeling that it'll be just as whitewashed as Detective Pikachu was. Not that it was a bad movie per se, but I felt that it was out of touch with what the franchise is primarily about. I hope that this series at least sticks closer to the core games, but I don't want it to mimic the main anime.
I think that Detective Pikachu was created primarily to showcase what life is like in the Pokemon world for those who aren't Trainers.

True. Wonder if the protagonist of this series will be a traditional trainer or someone like Tim

Hey, not EVERYONE in PokeWorld wants to go on an adventure to catch Pokémon, collect badges, and fight villains, thank you.

The idea of someone living a normal live involving Pokemon could work.

Speaking of Dark and gritty, anyone remember this?

I keep trying to forget this disgrace ever exist but no matter how hard I try and I still remember I've wasted precious time of limited life watching this dumpster fire of toxic garbage. How I detest this thing. It doesn't even work as a parody. Killing with fire is being too kind. Just erase it from existance.

Do y’all remember when the main girl of detective Pikachu (can’t remember her name) actress was doing an interview for Detective Pikachu and she said she loved Psyduck because he’s a Psychic type? Yeah no we need actual fans working on this project if it must come to pass

To be fair I used to think Psyduck was Psychic too

I still don't know why it wasn't tbh
Oh yeah of course he’s definitely meant to give off Pyshcic vibes but the fact that was her starter Pokémon in the movie and she that with confidence and a straight face.

Not to mention in DP Psyduck was able to hurt The Greninja with its Psychic powers even though the ninja frogs are part Dark type.

Yeah some fans or people working for the Pokemon Company would be helpful

To be fair, the TV Show has thrown out the Type-Chart many, many times by people who should know better...

It's not that bad but they get basic things wrong like Electric moves working on ground.

What the h*** the whole premise is worse than Sonic's CGI FUR before he was changed for the movie.

Guns, insults, bearded ash, extremely scrawny pikachu all look like something that doesn't belong in pokemon.

Seems like everything wants to be live action. I mean, I get it, I want to see what this stuff would look like in real life to but I still don't think shows like Pokemon need to be seen in live action. Superheroes, Scooby Doo if done right, and Kim Possible can be live action but things like Pokemon and Lion King don't work for this kind of stuff.

I feel like nobody asked for this. If they wanted to expand the Pokemon franchise they could just make more movies instead of a series because I think that's where the real money is.

The only way I'll watch this series is if it's based on another spin off game like Snap or Conquest. :D

IKR? I want more Ash-free AUs, but not like this. Also, I think it's Netflix wanting to monopolize (new) Pokemon works to straight up force people to subscribe...

Pokemon Snap as a faux-documentary! ;)

The idea of a live-action adaptation intrigues me. Chances are it'll be original characters, because if it was based on the anime they wouldn't be able to avoid breaking the tradition of Ash not aging, LOL. I'd be willing to give it a shot and see what it looks like.

If it's not Tokusatsu, it's probably not going to be that great unless they're really going for something specific. The only reason I say this is because I think that's the only way you can really do a standard Pokémon series in live action and NOT have it be Detective Pikachu (if they're going for a Detective Pikachu series, that's fine because that's a unique setting, but if they're going for something closer to the games or manga, then that's where you'd want it to be a Tokusatsu).

The one thing that you DON'T want to do with Pokémon is make it dark, edgy and angsty. That's not to say there can't be dark moments in it (the anime has its fair share). And it can have plenty of serious elements in it. But whoever makes anything related to Pokémon has to look at the source material. What's it best known for? Being lighthearted and cute. THE DARK MOMENTS ARE SECONDARY!

So yeah, this is a really slippery slope for me. But I have a feeling that TPC and PUSA are going to be requiring editorial approval on a lot of what they do. So I can't see this series going beyond a TV-PG rating.

But Netflix might infest it with identity politics and SJW pandering.
