Never Know What's Coming

Chapter 1

Kieran stared out at the empty, grassy, weed-stricken field that he called home on hot summer days. Another boring, rainy day. He switched on his dusty Super Nintendo and played Star Fox, but quickly was bored. He just lay on his bed with his eyes closed for a couple of minutes until he heard the phone ring.

“Hello?” a monotonous voice replied into the telephone.

“Hey Kieran!” A warm, higher pitched voice greeted him. “It’s Kelly!

Kieran suddenly jumped up. “Hey Kelly! What’s up?” His voice seemed a lot friendlier.

“Come over, quick! I’ve got something to show you!” Kelly said quickly, and then hung up.

Kieran pulled on his favorite forest green thermal shirt. He was 14 years old, had messy brown hair, and bright green eyes. He was eager to get to Kelly’s house quickly. Kelly always made him feel like he had to rush to see her. Maybe that was just him.

He ran past the Petalburg Lake, and he saw a few Magikarps just flopping in and out of the water. He chuckled a bit at the site, it was pretty funny. He finally made his way to Kelly’s house. Kelly looked beautiful with her hair wet. Kelly had a fake red burgundy hair color, and was a bit shorter than Kieran. She had a pink sweater on and wore hoop earrings with a belly button rings. Kieran made his way up to her, and saw another guy beside her. It was his best Anton. His heart dropped a bit, he thought that Kelly and him would be alone. But he was happy to see his best friend.

Anton was a little shorter than Kelly, but wore a red shirt and jeans, with straight dirty blonde hair, and had a bit of a natural tan. He looked happy as he took something out of his pocket. It was a tiny, red and white ball. He clicked the button twice, once to expand it, another to open it.

“Holy Brigro! Where’d you get hooked up with that?!” Kieran shouted aloud. A rodent type figure stood in front of him, and it was smiling and latching on to its trainer’s leg. It was a Sandshrew. Kelly giggled hard, and handed him one.

“My dad won a football betting pool, and he got these in the pot! He gave them to me, and I was thinking….do you want to travel with us? Anton and I! We want to take the Pokemon League Challenge…and maybe be the best of the best one day.” Kelly dazed off and put on a huge smile, something she often had on her.

Kieran had a dazed look on his face. “What..? Traveling…with Kelly, and Anton…wow…” he thought. Kieran was totally and utterly shocked. But he nodded, he wanted to do this. He wanted this. He didn’t want to spend another boring day in Petalburg. And being able to travel with Anton and Kelly really appealed to him.

Kelly smiled, and gave him the tiny red and white ball. Kieran fiddled with it, and finally opened it. A brilliant white light revealed a lily pad, and it was attached to some legs. When the image finally came into full color, Kieran recognized what it was. A Lotad! He always liked Lotad.

“Holy sheehot!” Anton exclaimed. “That’s really cool! But I do like this little buddy.” The Sandshrew came up and hugged him again. That Sandshrew sure was friendly. Kieran just kept thinking. “Wow…I really cannot believe this is happening…I wonder how mom is going to deal with this…MOM! I got to talk to her about this!”

“C’mon Lotad, we gotta go! I’ll see you guys later, I still have to talk to mom about this!”

Kelly and Anton laughed after that. “Have your *** over here by 9:00 AM tomorrow, that’s when we are leaving! Get a good rest…see ya Kieran!”

Anton and Kelly waved goodbye as Kieran took off. He glanced at his Pokeball and saw how his life was hopefully about to change. His mom would not have a problem with it, but she might get a little lonely. It’s a shame dad was not around. Kieran thought about his dad and a tear came to his eye. He quickly wiped it away, and ran through the wet, muddy street towards the house three blocks down.

He’d be ready for tomorrow. His life was about to change, for the better.

AUTHORS NOTES: I know, the writing isn’t the best right now, but I have ideas. Stick with the story, I think you will find this an interesting story. Thanks,

Right I "skimed" this and guess what. I had a problem with one of the sentences. It was bad.

Kieran was totally and utterly shocked.
Don't tell what they were doing. Show it.

Well, I skimed like I said. I didn't want to write out a whole review with all grammar mistakes. So I'll check this out after every chapter.

Chapter 2

Kieran walked in the door, and saw his mother. Immediately, his heart dropped. His mother had tears running down her face.

“…Mom?” he said with an empathetic voice.

She turned to him, wiping her eyes and sniveling. Kieran glanced over, and saw a picture of his father on the table. She missed him. He missed him. Kieran burst out into tears, and so did his mother. The embraced each other, and his mother stroked his head.

“It’s going to be OK, Kieran. I still have you.” she said.

Kieran felt distressed. He wanted to leave, he wanted to get out of Petalburg. He wanted the family name live on, of great Pokemon trainers. And as he thought of this, he realized that he had to do this. He had to go on, he had to make sure to make his mother…and his father proud.

“Mom…I need to go. I need to get out of Petalburg…” he replied. There was an awkward silence. A blank expression was on his mother’s face, and Kieran recognized that even though this would break her heart, his mother could always see both sides. She was a smart woman. She knew Kieran had to go, he had to do what he want to do even if his father was here.

“Kieran….” she nodded as tears burst out of her. He quickly wiped the tears from her face and hugged her one and only son.

“Well, when are you leaving?” she said with a sniveling voice.

“9:00 AM tomorrow.” he said with the same kind of voice as his mother.

“Well, I guess that won’t let me think about it, right? Let’s go get you packed.” she smiled.

Kieran smiled back, and they made their way to Kieran’s room.
