I've been replaying a lot of old Pokemon games lately, and now I've restarted Firered. Here's my planned team for it. Note that I won't be using egg moves, or moves that are only by move tutor in Emerald. I also won't be using multiples of TMs that can only be obtained once in-game, such as Earthquake:

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/3.png[/IMG139]
Venusaur
-Overgrow-
-Razor Leaf
-Leech Seed
-Sleep Powder
-Synthesis

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/34.png[/IMG139]
Nidoking
-Poison Point-
-Sludge Bomb/Megahorn
-Ice Beam
-Rock Slide
-Earthquake

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/122.png[/IMG139]
Mr. Mime
-Soundproof-
-Psychic
-Thunderbolt
-Magical Leaf
-Calm Mind

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/59.png[/IMG139]
Arcanine
-Flash Fire-
-Flamethrower
-Extremespeed
-Aerial Ace/Bite
-Dig

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/62.png[/IMG139]
Poliwrath
-Water Absorb-
-Surf
-Brick Break
-Ice Beam
-Body Slam

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/149.png[/IMG139]
Dragonite
-Inner Focus-
-Outrage/Dragon Claw
-Flamethrower
-Wing Attack/Brick Break/Focus Punch
-Surf/Subsitute

Frankly, I have no idea if these sets are even close to good, so please give as much advice as you can.

I'd put Synthesis over Return on Venusaur since Return won't do much else. Ice Beam is fine on Nidoking to hit other ground types. Dig has always been iffy to me so I'd take Crunch or Bite over it on Arcanine. You may also like Calm Mind (which works well with Substitute) over Light Screen on Mr. Mime and SubPunch on Dragonite's last two slots.

Rest of the sets look fine. The team is also pretty balanced aside from the lack of a Normal type resist. I've played through FireRed enough times (building my own final team right now) to know that a lot of the physical attackers in the game like to go the Normal route.

Hey, Gallade! Looks like another team of yours!

;003;Venusaur: I'd say to go with Synthesis over Return because Return gets no coverage.
;034;Nidoking: Sludge Bomb gets STAB, making stronger than Megahorn, so Sludge Bomb over Megahorn for sure.
;059;Arcanine: Dig would be too risky because of the Ground Type weakness. Bite & Aerial Ace have the same attack, but Aerial Ace never misses, so it's your call. Too bad Thunder Fang doesn't come until Generation IV.
;122;Mr. Mime: If you want Magical Leaf for more coverage, go with it.
;062;Poliwrath: Looks good to me!
;149;Dragonite: If you don't care about confusion, go with Outrage. I'd pick Dragon Claw, though that's just me. If you'll use Substitute, go with Focus Punch. If not, use Brick Break. You probably don't need Surf except outside of battle because all of its weaknesses are covered with Dragon Claw, Flamethrower & Brick Break/Focus Punch.

Overall, a pretty solid team.....I guess.

Alright, thanks for the suggestions. Synthesis on Venusaur and Magical Leaf on Mr. Mime. I do think I'll keep Dig on Arcanine, as it does give it good coverage and enemy AI is rarely good enough to take advantage of it.

As for Nidoking, I'll still keep Megahorn under consideration, as it gives coverage against Psychic-types that would otherwise cause problems. I'm still completely unsure of Dragonite, I'll decide on it later.

I'd run with Sludge Bomb and put Megahorn over Ice Beam. You can just switch out anyways if any Ground types come in.

Stickin' to 3rd Gen
in my humble opinion, an Alakazam could do the job that Mr Mime does, but that is entirely up to personal preference.
Id make an Alacalmindzam -
Alakazam @ Leftovers / TwistedSpoon (if you want damage)
EV's : 252 SP.ATT / 172 SP.DEF / 80 SPEED / 4 HP
-Calm Mind
-Psychic
-The last two are really personal preference again, but this build could have the flexibility and speed for a reflect or light screen build.

BE AFRAID!
Why has nobody said that dragon moves are special in 3rd gen so dragonite sucks.

The Dragonite set does not "suck". Dragon and Fire give unresisted coverage in GenIII. You can't argue with base 100 SpA either.

Changes in bold. Not a bad team. Return's good on Venusaur when it comes to hitting opposing Grass and Bug Pokemon in a pinch.

I wouldn't bother with Sludge Bomb on Nidoking. Venusaur needs it more, and everything Sludge Bomb does on Nidoking, Ice Beam will be doing better.

If you don't mind me saying, you make a LOT of Gen III teams.

Why has nobody said that dragon moves are special in 3rd gen so dragonite sucks.

I hope you realize that you're now one of the dumbest people on this forum. The day a Pokemon with a base 100 SpA that is considered 'shit' when its STAB type plays off that same base stat, is they day I kill someone. Seriously. If you or anyone else is not willing to at least learn the bare basics of Generation III, then quit posting here for postcount +1. You look dumb, you sound dumb, and quite frankly, spew useless shit that really helps no one.

God I hate stupid people.
