NINTENDO TO UNVEIL IN-CAR GAME BOY ADVANCE SYSTEM AT CES ON THURSDAY

The site which broke the news about Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Mario Pinball, Nintendo Classics Collection, Metroid Pinball and many other Nintendo secrets -- Nintendo Insider -- is now unveiling Nintendo's newest gadget to the world -- an in-car Game Boy Advance system!

What you see in the picture above is a 10.2 inch display, which can play CD's, DVD's and... Game Boy Advance cartridges! If you're out of the car, you can detach the device and take it with you anywhere; but when you're back in, attach it back to your car and let people play the Game Boy Advance on a bigger screen while on the go!

This device is loaded with other features, including infrared headphones -- offering wireless convenience for passengers -- auxiliary jacks, a 6-pin serial port and, for the Game Boy Advance, a side loading game slot. The device also integrates to the vehicle network and can be commanded and controlled by the driver.

Nintendo will announce its partnering company tomorrow.

Got a piccie too

Seems an odd move by Nintendo.

A) They've always been against entertainment integration
B) What's the point of having a GBA fixed to your car when the basic point of a GBA/DS is to play it on the move? Wouldn't you just use the REAL one rather than one running an emulator of it?

Sounds more like the thing you'd find on April 1st... and a pretty stupid move on Nintendo's part.

Interesting. I would never had thought Nintendo would do something like this.

A) Nintendo have always been against all forms of media. i.e. Not including CD and DVD playing on GCN, thus separating it from its competitors.
B) Not including DVD/CD playing on Revolution without the separate attachment.

Maybe this a turning point for Nintendo. I'm still shocked at reading this. It does not seem like something they would do.

A stupid move by Nintendo. The system won't sell, the Gameboy people know and love are all portable - not in-the-car portable.

Nice screen. But once again it's just another GBA that even less people are going to have a use for.. if you already have a GBA, I'm pretty sure you aren't going to need one that can connect to your car. And yeah, it seems like they're incredibly confused, they're going on and on about how they don't want to create a media type console that plays DVD's, etc, and then they come out with this?

Aww too many angry people :(. I find this pretty cool. Maybe now my parents will play games too! I'll be looking forward to more information since I've got a lot of questions regarding this new GameBoy. But in the end if the price is good and it comes with different colours, it's mine.

Did any of you fully read it? It plays CD's, DVD's and GBA cartridges, so it's not really a pure GBA.

Well Either way it seems pretty pointless to me IMO. I have to agree with most of the other people on tihs thread that it is strange how niontendo has sudenly changed there mind about something like that. I know that I will not be getting one as I have just got a portable DVD player for christmas. I still do not see the point.

Well, this is a very strange thing for Nintendo to do. It would be a great idea had we not had 3 GBAs, the GB Player and the DS already. To be honest I think they're pushing the GBA far too much, I'm sure that more people will want a new piece of hardware such as GBA2 rather than this. Also, I think the odds are small that this GBA will be able to connect to other GBs. CD and DVD playing is great, but essentially a small addition to something we have seen before. Its kinda like buying a TV with an intergrated DVD Player when you have both a TV and a DVD player seperately already.

I think it's kind of interesting and I wouldn't mind having one myself actually. That's a good find, IMO, Serebii. <3

I think its cool. Besides, the car I'm getting wont have a DVD player, so I'll buy this. I'll also just get a plus that it play GBA games too.

Wow, another GBA shocking. We already have

Original GBA
GBA SP
GB Micro

And now another one. But if you think about it, the original GB had just as many versions.

GB
GB Pocket
GBC

I'm probably missing something. But what can you expect Nintendo and all other companies are cheap.

GBC was seperate hardware, it had different games to the GB.

I suppose that you are right when you say it like that. Exept the GBC was a seperate piece of hardware. There was also the GB Light, which was a GBP with a backlight, so I guess that the Advance beats that for having so many reincarnations. I still do not see the point though. I mean after GBASP, they all kind of got pretty pointless to me. At least the SP added a backlight and rechargable batteries.

i mean seriously Nintendo... will NOT make this... could be an idea but whats the point of having a car GBA when the GBA itself is portable... i mean if it was like the gamecube for a car i might understand but the GBA? oh please

it might just be easier to make a cord which enables you to hook your GBA to your car TV... -_-

yeah i still dont believe this belony it wont hurt me if i dont believe it anyways
