OHMYGODTHEGRAPHICS. They're AWESOME! =D And Sonic doesn't look plastic anymore! Yay!

Yeah, what's day and night going to do? I wonder...

I am SO getting this game, if I can.

Very impressed by this. Shows that the next generation systems are very good at churning out graphics as amazing as this. I do like the idea of day and night...makes a level a bit different or perhaps difficulty changes with it. I like it. 15th Anniversary.

Based on what I'm seeing, I don't think that much will change from previous 3-D Sonic games. Sega said something about simplified gameplay, but some of those screenshots show the exact opposite what with Light Dash being there and all in one of the screenshots (I'm not complaining, just saying). Probably only those who enjoyed the other games, like I do, will enjoy this game. (Hopefully I'm way off in this prediction.)

Time for my say.

Sonic Team, it's 2006. You've been working on 3D games since the Sega Saturn. When will you learn to stop making your tree branches look so damn pixelated and when will you make trees not look like they have paper branches and leaves pasted on? It's like they're not even fully taking advantage of the current technology. The leaves look like they're put together on a construction paper made tree. x_X

That aside, I will say that the rest of the scenery looks beautiful, albeit a tad dated looking. Sonic looks superb here. His mouth his shut. He has the same annoyed/badass look in his eyes. THAT is the Sonic I grew up to.

Though part of me is saying that $10 says the finished product will look nothing like this. :|

The game looks promising, but they need to keep it a straight up Sonic game, with no stupid gimmicks, or pointless sidekick characters. If this game ends up being bad, then it'll prove once and for all Sonic Team can't actually make good games.

I like Sonic's look in the game though. I didn't like the more realistic look in SA2, and I didn't want him to look too cartoony. They seem to have gotten it just right. Gotta love his shoes.

Not the best looking 360 game, but it's still pretty early in development.

I think that these graphics look AMAZING. I mean, I know that next generation graphics are supposed to be looking great, but I still think that it looks good. Also, I am also upset that I will probably never be playing it as sega has already stated that that sonic game will be for the PS3 and XBox360 only. And I have my heart set on getting a revolution. I cannot afford to buy 2 next generation consoles. I still think that it looks awesome though.

Also, if you ask me, the onlt thing wrong with the light dash was when it through you off of the trail of rings you were on and then kills you. If they fix those glitches, then I thinik that it will be quite simple. I mean, it adds loads of speed to the game, and that is what sonic is all about. They just need to fix the glitches with it IMO.

Oh, silly me. I forgot that everytime Sonic Team releases screenshots of a Sonic game in works, they're showing you the stuff that won't be in the finished product and at camera angels you could never get. Just like all those camera angels for Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 where the camera's facing upward to the side from the ground at the character, namely Sonic or Tails.

Graphically... It looks like the best thing Unreal Engine 2 could push out, including some major reworking. And I'm sure it's meant to add realism, but Sonic's eyes look a little too metalic.

Agreed, that was bugging me as well.

OK, why the hell do people keep wanting this? I can understand being against the excessive amounts of characters in the last few games, but playing only as Sonic seems a bit excessive. And I still think everyone's forgetting the great character variety that was in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, arguably the best Sonic game ever. Gameplay's similar between all of them, yet they still manage to present a varied experience and lots of replayability with their unique abilities that attribute to a vastly different control (and no two characters are clones of others, like Hero and Dark characters in Adventure 2, or the teams in Sonic Heroes if you exclude those very minor things that rarely come up in the gameplay, like Team Blasts, Espio, or Amy's hammer, all nowhere near as numerous as all the Homing Attack, fly, break boulders in each team's stages). It's as though you want those advances that the Genesis sequals made to regress, as if just adding a mere couple of characters for a little flavor takes away from the overall games. Besides, didn't you already get your wish in Sonic Rush (which I, admittedly, still have yet to play)?

Honestly, this demand for more "straight-up Sonic games" has gotta be the most over-rated part of the Sonic fandom, and I am taking Shadow's fanbase into account (for that matter, I played Shadow the Hedgehog recently. IMHO, it's not as bad as people make of it. Found it a touch better than Heroes, actually). What you should be asking for is not a lack of characters, but rather to have another game like Sonic Adventure. Multiple characters, slightly-to-completely different gameplay (though maybe not something outlandish and widely disliked, like Big's fishing stages), no clones of one-another, and you can still have your high-speed action in Sonic's game (which you know will still have more stages than any other character's game, as was the case in both Sonic Adventure games).

Pics = not in real time

Sorry but these pictures which you are all drooling upon are very hard to pull off in real time. What you are seeing is called marketing.

Sorry, but you clearly missed the videos. They actually showed someone playing the game, it was completely real time, including the day-night system. Besides, it's not that hard to believe. Compare the game to something like Kameo, and it doesn't even look as good as that. Pixelated tree's, jaggie textures. The game doesn't look so great that it's unbeilavable.

But if you still don't believe it's actually ingame, then go watch it yourself.

And Yamato-san, fair enough. I wouldn't mind having a few other characters like Tails and Knuckles to OPTIONALLY play as, but the problem with the Sonic series is that they keep adding in pointless side kick characters with next to no personality, most of them just being clones of already existing characters. How much of the Sonic Adventure games did you actually play as Sonic in? The original Sonic games were good because you could just play as Sonic racing through the levels, or exploring or whatever. No stupid fishing, or annoying treasure hunts that take up to 2 hours to complete. I definatly think we really need a straight up Sonic game this time.

Oh, COME ON. 0_o The treasure hunt levels aren't that hard. I can do Dry Lagoon in two minutes. And the Adventure games are FUN! I love those games! (Although I agree, the fishing was stupid. It looks like they're going to bite, and THEY DON'T. 5 TIMES IN A ROW. -_-) And I agree about the pointless characters. There are too many. I mean, don't get me wrong. I like playing as other characters. I like a lot of the other characters. But when you start getting completely random ones that don't do anything, *coughBIGcough* it's irritating.

Urgh, again with the lack of soap shoes while grinding. Graphics look good, but you can never judge a game on graphics alone. The scenery graphics are not nearly as good as the character. Then again, i have found Sonic Team notorious for good in-game movie graphics, but when it comes to gameplay, they are shoddy at best, such as in Shadow the Hedgehog.
I just hope its more like SA2:B and not Heroes or Shadow. They were ok but not nearly as good as SA2:B.
And they better have sorted out the homing attack in this one, not throwing you off a cliff every time.

If it's next gen, i wonder how the Rev controller will fare. Sonic Team did a pretty good job of using the touch screen on Rush, mabey it will be up to the same standard.

Somehow..people continuously miss the point to the SOAP shoes even being in Sonic Adventure 2 to begin with. Advertising purposes. That was all there was to it. Sonic was originally going to wear his original shoes in SA2. Sonic Team chose to try to gain a sponser as well as advertise the shoes for their last Sonic game on a Sega system, especially to celebrate their mascot's 10th anniversary.

God no. Hopefully more Sonic Adventure than SA2. Last thing I want is alternating gameplay every other level. o_O Not to mention, SA's level designs seemed a tad more Sonic-like than those of SA2. Take Emerald Coast or Windy Valley for example. Hell, even Speed Highway was full of insane speed for Sonic.

You fail at Homing Attack. >_> I've never had that problem in ANY of the versions of SA or SA2 (both Dreamcast and GameCube).

That's if Nintendo's releasing this one. If I remember correctly, so far only a PS3 and Xbox 360 release have been announced. Unless I missed something.

Sorry, i was a little opinionated in my last post, I must admit, i agree with SA2 being annoying with the alternating level concept. I think I like SA2 more from the story, the story is a big thing for me in 3D sonic games.

About the homing attack, SA and SA2 I found they did it well, whereas the style in Heroes and Shadow was somewhat less controllable.
With soap shoes, I thought it was the basis of the grinding rails which appeared in SA2, then again the whole sponsor thing sounds right too.

I enjoy Sonic games just as much as the next Sonic Fan, please don't flame my opinions.

If you play or see the demo of SA2 that came included with Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast, you'll see Sonic without SOAPs. :p Seems like it was simply a last minute throw in after striking the deal with SOAP.

Ah, i see now. I still quite liked the idea of soaps though. I hope the next gen Sonic will go to Nintendo too as I don't want to have to splash out on other consoles. Doesn't Nintendo seem to have strong links with Sega, from doing some Cube only games, and all those portable Sonics on GBA?

Uh, the only "Cube-only" Sonic games have been available on a system before those. So they're not exclusive to Nintendo, exactly. The only thing Nintendo gets exclusively are the GBA and DS games.
