Hey, Gallade! Have you thought about what items you might want? I could give you some suggestions.

A friend of mine who just got into Pokemon last year is about to play Platinum for the first time, so I decided that I'm going to play again alongside him. Here's the team I've got planned out:

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/389.png[/IMG139]
Torterra @Leftovers
-Overgrow-
-Wood Hammer
-Leech Seed/Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

I'd definitely say Stone Edge is important for Flying types. Crunch might be a good idea over Leech Seed for more coverage, though Leech Seed with Leftovers can help you recover some decent HP from Wood Hammer.

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/398.png[/IMG139]
Staraptor @Muscle Band
-Intimidate-
-Brave Bird
-Close Combat
-Return
-U-Turn

Muscle Band to increase Attack. I know Quick Attack could be good to attack first most of the time, but I feel U-Turn might be better for you to get out of sticky situations quicker. I suppose Roost might also still be a good option. It's tough between these 3, but the one I'd pick is U-Turn. Up to you though.

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/475.png[/IMG139]
Gallade @Muscle Band
-Steadfast-
-Psycho Cut
-Close Combat
-Leaf Blade
-Ice Punch

Chose Ice Punch because it is a little stronger and gives coverage against Flying types (even though Night Slash covers Ghost types). I suppose you could switch out when battling a Ghost type you don't think you can beat. Muscle Band for increased Attack.

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/134.png[/IMG139]
Vaporeon @Wise Glasses
-Water Absorb-
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Shadow Ball
-HP Electric/Fire (if possible)/Toxic

Wise Glasses for increased Special Attack. If you don't have HP Electric or Fire, I suppose you should go with Toxic.

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/229.png[/IMG139]
Houndoom @Life Orb
-Flash Fire-
-Flamethrower
-Dark Pulse
-Thunder Fang
-Solarbeam

I know the Life Orb might seem risky, but it boosts both Special Attack AND Attack. If you don't like the recoil, I recommend just a Muscle Band or Wise Glasses then. Might as well boost some moves. Isn't Solar Beam risky though? You'll probably use it mainly against Water, Rock & Ground types, so couldn't they just easily KO Houndoom?

[IMG139]http://floatzel.net/pokemon/black-white/sprites/images/474.png[/IMG139]
Porygon-Z @Wise Glasses
-Adaptability-
-Tri Attack
-Thunderbolt
-Signal Beam
-Psychic

Wise Glasses for increased Special Attack.

Any suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated.
That's what I got! Hopefully you don't mind the repetitiveness of items like the Muscle Band & Wise Glasses, but it's not like you are forced to use them anyways. (I do definitely recommend the Leftovers on Torterra though.)

Thanks for the suggestions, I really hadn't given items much thought at all. As for Solarbeam on Houndoom, I really just put that there as a filler spot, what could be better used there? Nasty Plot, maybe?

Maybe Nasty Plot, or maybe something like Sludge Bomb or Shadow Ball. Actually if you get HP Grass, maybe you can use that. It'll do the same amount of damage at the end of two turns as Solar Beam.

Good point, I'll go with HP Grass if I can get it. Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball would be pretty useless, frankly, as they wouldn't hit anything super-effectively that isn't already covered by Flamethrower and Dark Pulse :/

True. So, are you going to use held items?
