• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

New Pokémon Discussion/Speculation Thread

No it doesn't.

Mightyena is a hyena.

Again, the "-yena" in Mightyena comes from the fact that it's a hyena, not a wolf.

Please, a little sanity?

Ok ok it'as a hyena happy

I only mentioned the wolf bit in the name for the lycan
So combination of lycan(wolf) and hyena.....there ya go

I will put money on the fact it's a mightyena evo.....you don't just randomly have a mightyena who is generally not that important of a pokemon on movie merch for no apparent reason

You people.

Did I say it couldn't be an evolution of Mightyena? Go point out where I said that. I said that to try and declare it is absolutely such at present is just foolish and that to make such a declaration on the basis of Mightyena being something it isn't is equally foolish.

Sure you do. All the time. Shall we sit down and list every seemingly random Pokémon to appear in promotional materials for movies that, inevitably, was found to make an appearance in the film, either wild or in the possession of a character new to the film? It's a long list and I can give you four or five identical instances straight off the top of my head.

It is not related to Lucario.
Just compare them. This one has claws, no ears and the body shapes are different, look at the legs for example.
And it can't be the happiness@night evolution because NEW EVOLUTIONS NEVER HAPPEN BY OLD METHODS.

I thought it could be an evolution of Floatzel. But looking at it's (immense) size, I thought it wouldn't. I'm trying to do a sketch of it now, but I don't have an art background. I'll do my best anyway.

I originally went with the idea that it could be a lucario evolution, however upon comparing pictures of the two there are some flaws, 'Z' has clawed feet and a pointed, curved ear unlike lucario who has rounded toes and pointy ears. also we see from riolu and lucario that they have spikes on their arms and chest in lucario's case which 'Z' doesn't.

therefore it could be a mightyena evo but i get the feeling this should be a legendary given it's movie title credit

If I remember correctly Sanity has never applied to the Pokémon series. You may constantly go on about Mightyena being based upon a Hyena, however you can't judge us on speculation.

Also Pokemon has never been 'sane' in the Pokémon World we have Fish evolve into Serpents, we have Pirahnas evolve into Sharks, we have lizards evolve into Dragons.

So you see Pokémon has never been sane.
So I think Mightyena could evolve into Z.

Dragons and Lizard both are reptiles and Piranha and Shark are both fish. But your point is right anyways.

On Topic: Who knows if this Pokemon is related to older one or not. We are here to speculate and others shouldn't come in out way saying it is impossible. You can add a reason of how you think it is not viable but calling it wrong is not the way.
So here is my point, it is a new evolution of Pikachu. Ash's Pikachu evolve by mistake and that cause trouble in future(Ash turns evil) but Celebi comes back in time and stop the evolution lol.

Woow...

Mind you I've always loved pokemon, but no offense guys, some of your are raving mad with speculation.

O__o No wonder my topic of something as basic as trading pokemon from one gen to another was canceled - you guys can't even handle a small conversation about a completely non-released pokemon's silhouette without bickering with one another.

It's a new pokemon, doubtful it's an evolution of something previous, you have to wait a week and a half, or whatever.

Deal with it?

I think if by some insane reason it is an evolution to something, Ninetales would be cool. (Just so I at least slightly bite into the discussion)

Does anyone get this Samurai Warrior vibe from it, since it happens to have the Ronin-style hair-do?

I'm leaning towards it having something to do with mightyena. maybe an evo or maybe it's a seperate poke that looks after/ leads mightyenas be
cause it seams wierd theirs a mightyena right in the middle of the bag for no reason.

How can you tell it has no ears from a sillouette? One or two of the tufts upon it's head could be ears. And the old methods has been broken on DP because some evolve with move pokemon could learn the move already.
All the same I don't think a Lucario evo is likely either.

It could be a mightyena evo, but I think it's most likely to be a brand new Pokemon line. Although I'd like a mightyena evo. I could evolve my shiny...

There are pretty good reasons for it not to be anything to do with Mightyena.

A) Raticate, Furret, Linoone and Bibarel are never going to evolve, so why should the mutt?
B) What on earth would a Pokémon that basic have to do in a major film role? Yes, Lucario wasn't legendary, but he also wasn't an evolution of one of the beginning Pokémon of the games.

And I'm sure there are even more that others can come up with. I think if the guessed pattern continues, then this will be much like Gen 1+3; there will be a lot more new Pokémon and a lot less Pokémon related to older Pokémon by evolution.

If I recall, Hoenn only had Wynaut and Azurill.

Let's go to the beach, each.

Bidoof does evolve, into Bibarel :/

Anyway, most likely, it's a brand-new Pokemon similar to Lucario. It certainly doesn't look like the generic small/cute Pokemon we've usually seen in the beginning of a new Gen.

I'm sorry but I thought this was brilliant, it could possibly be a Shaymin forme, however I think we've seen a bit too much Shaymin for one Generation.

I'm inclined to go with the a werewolf like Pokemon too. Which would imply it being a Dark type. A dark fighting type would awesome typing to have too.

I get the Lucario impression too.

This should be an interesting new installment since it is breaking from so many of the conventional ways of doing things, such timing and console.

I wonder what this will mean for console games like Battle Revolution. Hopefully they will get on top of things and make a better 3D one.

I agree with you.

I am just happy that news is finally starting to come out. I hope they make a ton of new pokemon. Especially Electric, Dragon, and Darks since they seem to be low on them..

Hmmm... I think it could be a Dark/steel type... Big shoulders coming out of it's head, spikes on the shoulders, small hands, feet coming out of the bottom of the head. Am I the only one who thinks it could be like that rather than a wolf thing?

In every gen we do have an Electric-type Pokémon. It's called Pikachu.

Dragons are supposed to be rare.

Number of Ghost and Fire type Pokémon is also quite low.
