• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

This gen should really FINALLY have pokemons based on:
-Wolf (Fire and Ice type would be cool with it changing colors and typing between day and night, sun and moon)
-Dolphin (Pure Water Type with amazing speed)
-Narwhal (Water/Rock)
-Koala (the rattata pokemon of the region with it starting as normal and becoming normal/grass)
-Also, a small hula dancer pokemon thats Fire/Grass with its head lit on fire and wearing a dress of leaves

So the question is...new pokemon or the first (?) example of a non-pokemon animal seen in the games?

Not sure if you're being facetious or not, but Herdier looked a lot like a normal dog as well, as did Furfrou, except it's scaled up.

Maybe they can name it Muchow, derived from 'much wow.' lol

It then evolves into Sowow (So and Wow, a pun on 'bowow') :p

Till all are One
I haven't even seen it's face and I want it. It's proportions look like my actual dog.

I was trying to figure out what the red stuff is on its ears...until I realized they're clearly the kid's shoes. :p

This is a definitely nice little bonus, though! Getting to see the starters, mascots, AND a random new Pokémon all in one week!

Like i said in the news thread, I'm guessing it's the basic normal type in the early part of the region

Nah I know it's a pokemon, but heh, would be fun, wouldn't it?

normal animals have no place in the world of Pokemon :p

Hmm....in terms of how many new Pokémon I think could be in the games, I'm not that optimistic based on the last gen's number. Most people here are expecting 100 to 120 or even more. For me, I'd lower my expectations quite a bit towards 80 new PKMN, slightly more than XY. People have to know that the games are now in 3D (not 3DS's 3d that is) and making full 3d models of every single Pokémon is a hard task. That said, however, if they have been working on Pokémon Sun and Moon since the release of XY, I could atleast see 100 new PKMN added, but its also to note that Mega Evolutions tend to be counted towards this amount if I'm correct.

So my number likely doesn't really change from my original predictions:

80 Brand New PKMN - (new evolutions of old PKMN are counted in this area)
20 of so Mega Evolutions
Mega Evolutions don't really count. 120+ more would be nice for new Pokemon.

Like i said in the news thread, I'm guessing it's the basic normal type in the early part of the region.

I'm tempted to say it's not because it's a dog, not *insert small mammal here* :s

Leavanny and Scolipede were wonderful regional bugs, they were strong, but not terribly so! :D

Hoping they'll delay the bug till later in the game like Gen V so we get better bugs

We can still good bugs early on, but I get what you're trying to say. :D

Ugh, I am so in love with that idea.

Yanmega should've been a Dragon type. Hell, Flygon should've been a Bug type. We need a Bug/Dragon sooooooo bad!

Fantastic isn't it? It would look majestic and intimidating at the same time! :D
Anyway, I wholehartedly agree with you, for we desperately need a Bug/Dragon, especially after the missed opportunities with Yanmega and Flygon. T_T

As for the new Pokèmon in the overworld, I must say that it looks freaking adorable and I do hope that his evolutionary line will be similar to Lillipup's one, considering that it's clearly based on a dog!
It looks like an Akita, but what if it was based on this breed of dogs?

It could be the Lillipup of the generation, Lillipup was also an early game normal type, it just was able to be used past that point unlike the rodents.

I don't think it's that breed as the tail's shape doesn't match. It's more like Akitas or Shiba Inus in that regard, maybe even huskies, though I kind of doubt it.

Eh, I was mostly talking about how I'm thinking it won't be the Patrat counterpart. Lillipup is something we need more of as another early game Pokemon that is dependable throughout the game, though the rodents are still good with the right movesets and all that.

Yep, it's more safe to say that it's an Akita!
No problem with me! I love Akita Inu and I do hope that I'll get the chance to raise another badass dog after Stoutland! :D

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood what you meant.

And I agree, that was one of the reasons I loved Lillipup, I was able to use it all the way to endgame as it was pretty reliable, I can't say the same for any of the rodents like Rattata or Patrat.

Watchog, Linoone, and Raticate are all decent pokes that can withstand a long journey. Diggersby is another matter.

I think this here doge will likely be part of a two-stage evolution line in place of an early field rotant. However, that isn't to say rotants won't exist. I think we're gonna get something a little more Zangoose-ey.

Is there something on it's neck, like a collar?

Who's the daddy? Me!
Am I the only one who thinks that like XY, the regional bird will evolve into something else other than Normal/ Flying? But, considering we have Rowlet who will most probably evolve into a Grass/ Flying, maybe a Fairy/ Flying?

Idk why but a Normal/Fighting Poi Dog would be really cool to see this region. Something that looks docile but can do Hi Jump Kick's would be real cool.

I personally would like Steel/Flying to be the result of a three-stage regional bird line.

I'm thinking it's a foal or some other animal with hoofs. You can see that the bottom of it's feet are black. Could have black paws I guess. But I'm thinking small deer/goat/gazelle ect.

The hooves you're seeing is just shadow, you can see it more clearly in this zoomed in shot.
