New Sonic Wild Fire information.

First I'll get this out so I can attract your attention. Yes it's confirmed you can backtrack by the new director of this game. I thank big_smile from GHZ forums for this info...

The latest issue of UK publication Nintendo Official Magazine includes a 6 page feature on Sonic Wildfire.

Despite being billed as an ‘exclusive preview’, few new details are revealed in the article. It does however contain an interview with director Ogawa Yojiro and a small selection of new screenshots.

Yojiro, who previously worked on Gems Collection and Kimishine mostly regurgitates the contents of previous press releases in the interview. He does, however, reveal that he is planning a new Wii game which will take “full advantage of the… controller”. Suggesting that new game may not be connected to Sonic, he describes it as “whole new title that no one has ever seen”. He hopes to start working on the mysterious project after completing WildFire.

Moving back to the present, Yojiro states that the story of WildFire will be different from existing games. Amusingly, he then hints that Eggman may not be the villain, which has been a trend in recent games.

The article details the new control system. Those worried that the title may be too linear will be pleased learn that Sonic is able to backtrack.

It doesn't look like they are far in production:( I was hoping for it to come out by the end of 2006, but looks like we gotta wait till 2007.

Before I was worried that this wouldn't feel like a Sonic game because of the Wiimote.

Even though this is different from previous sonic games, it looks promising, and the controls dont look "bad" or "very un-sonic-y"

this games probably not going to be out for quite a while, though =(

Backtrack... how? Will he stop (with B button or something else) and then turn back?

To backtrack you'll have to jerk the Wii-mote back towards you; Sonic will immediately turn around and go in the opposite direction.

Unlike the Sonic Adventure games, Shadow the Hedgehog, and the also upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog for the PS3 and XBOX 360, WildFire finally successfully makes the transition from 2D to 3D correctly, keeping the huge feel of "Sonic speed" exposed in this game. You'll be zooming so fast through the levels you won't be able to fully appreciate the amazing scenery WildFire has to offer. In fact, when you use Sonic's WildFire gage, he runs so fast through the levels the entire screen around Sonic will be blurred! For those of you who feel Sonic's losing his speed, that is definitely not the case in this game.

That's one of the first games I'm going to get for the revolution that and Pokemon battle revolution. Sonic has been great since I started playing it when I was five (I wasn't very good) that was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 my cousin Jason and I used to play then it went on to Sonic Adventure 2 then Sonic DX and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Gems Collection and finally Shadow the Hedgehog this just gets me so worked up I mean backtraking a whole new system a whole new controller. Sonic Wildfire the next generation of Sonic games!

That doesn't seem so different from Sonic's gameplay in both Sonic Adventure and in new Sonic the hedgehog. In fact, the control for those three is way more traditional than Wiild Fire one.

Not really. If you read the scans, unlike the SA games and Sonic the Hedgehog for PS3 and XBOX 360, you'll notice that the controls are so simple, anyone can pick it up and start playing. This is how it was back in the 2D era, and WildFire stays true to the fact that you felt the feeling of speed, and even though there are enemies and other obstacles, in the entire game you'll only have to quickly stop during a few of the levels once or twice.

Now this is what I'm talking about. Take all the time you need, Sonic Team. PLEASE. No need to rush the game for any holidays like you did with Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. :p

On that matter, this kinda reminds me of when Sonic Adventure was still in development and screenshots galore of new Sonic on new hardware were shown. I'm really liking this. My opinion still stands that Wild Fire > StH PS3/360.

Yeah yeah. Sonic Wild Fire I hear aint due to 2007 so I wouldn't worry about it being rushed for the holiday times unless they release it earlier... anyway since Arabian Nights has 1001 stories I wonder how much content they'll use from the book?

Speaking of which, it would be a pretty cool thing if Sonic Wild Fire was Wi-Fi. You see it? Sonic Wild Fire? :p Lol. Has multiplayer even been confirmed for this?

I'm not sure, but that's interesting. I never noticed that before.

Hero of Legend

Advanced Missingno.
This looks neat, but you know what I wish, that the sonic games had no voice actors, just like in the old days and no one can complain about how much the voices suck now!:D

But I'll never forgive Sega (or 4kids if their responsible) for firing Ryan and all the other voice actors!

HEY!!! Why isn't there a SOVA for the Sonic games? WHY would ANYONE want 4kids to voice in the Pokemon series again, though they are a HATED company for their edits AND voice actors?!?!?!?

It looks like a 3D Sonic Rush, which is BRILLIANT! I'm now really looking forward to this game, when I wasn't too excited before, it does look brilliant fun.

On about back tracking, surely you might just be the action of shacking the Wiimote for 3 secs or something. No need to press buttons.

It's going to be a lot more than just that.

Actually, shaking the Wiimote causes you to go into WildFire mode, and the only button you have to press is I think either 1 or 2, which causes you to jump.

No, it hasn't been confirmed yet, but I'd imagine so. This game is supposed to be 100% Sonic gameplay, and I'm pretty sure the rest of the gang won't even show up. Multiplayer will probably be something similar to the character selection in Shadow the Hedgehog, which means just a bunch of Sonic variations.

Speaking of Sonic Rush... the music for the level they showed for the Sonic Wild Fire demo has some... funkiness as the Sonic Rush music did didn't it?

I'm concerened about what look like linear levels in this game. One of the things that I enjoyed in Sonic Adventure was that you can always take different routes, instead of going in one straight path with bottomless pits in each end like in Sonic Adventure 2 and Heroes. I'm still more excited about Wild Fire then I am about next gen Sonic the Hedgehog.

Perhaps there's forks in the road and you quickly gotta chose which one you wanna go through? That's a way for it to work for Sonic Wild Fire.
