I'm new at spriting so a lot of these are probably rubbish, but I hope to improve. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. So to the exhibits!

They are jpg.? They look normal to me! And they are REALLY good for a beginner! The Treecko/Torchic is funny and cute and good, and the mews are ok too. The Pupitar is the best! Great job, I really want to see more!

Actually they're not jpg. I think the Pupitar is best too (if I do say so myself) and the Treeko/torchic is meant to be funny, Hazy Leaf. Glad you liked them.

This is the guide I used. Go to my sprite thread (The World of Sprites on page 2) to see my sprites. My maps? They are as good as the guide. Your first? You'd be the best spriter of map making.

open them in paint and zoom very closely, you'll see they'r jpeg.

The fact that you've seen worse is NOT going to help the new spriter.
First of all, never save your sprite as a .jpg. Always save your sprite as a .png, because, even though .bmp won't distort the sprite, Photobucket will change it to a .jpg.
Second, make sure to make your parts blended together. The sprite should look smooth and clean.
Additionally, make sure to reshade and reoutline when you put parts together, in order to make it so there is only one light source.
Finally, try to avoid using all black outlines, as they look unnatural.

Nice try though...Keep it up, and you'll be a great spriter!

I do agree with electabuzz. The pictures look........well, different. The fact that your saving your new sprites as .jpg changes lots of things. I'd love to see what the sprites look like when you save them as .png. Good luck with your later sprites.

They are jpeg, but you can still see most of the details, so it's not so bad. However, try to save as png if your computer can.
The re-elements are far too simple. Try giving it a fin on its head, or flowers for the grass one. Just adding one little detail from another sprite doesn't make a re-element. The ghost Pupitar isn't bad, but it's just a recolor and anyone can do that. Still, it's a unique idea. The splice has way too many black outlines. This is probably from the official sprites, so it's not your fault, but you still need to fix it. Refer to the revamping tutorial to learn how to properly outline shade.

Overall, they're not bad, but there's a lot of room for improvament. Keep practicing and listen to the advice others give you and you'll do fine.

yes as everyone says very basic... you just recoloured the sprites... and added i chikorita's leaf on mew's head... and yes they are JPG format... Rightclick>properties>url

Yes I did save them as bmp. On my computer they look fine and I didn't realise Photobucket changes them...Hehehe. As for the re-elements, as stated they are very basic and I am working on making them better. As for the splice, I was just messing around one day and tada! I ended up with that. It was before I really started spriting and figured out stuff like outlines.

The mew looks good but it could look as if it had more of the grass element. Like by putting leaves at the end of its hands.

For those who are interested I have changed them to png. Now they should look better and the details should be easier to make out.
