Which video game should I get?

New Super Mario bros. SM64DS is kind of a sloppy port, whereas NSMB is entirely new (hence the title).

Sorry to be pedantic but it's Super Mario 64 DS, not Super Mario Brothers 64 DS, just thought I'd point that out...

Anywho, I have both and NSMB is by far a hell of alot better. It has all the minigames from SM64 but they're multiplayer plus it has a few more. The game play is also WAY better. SM64 is over-rated, imo.

You get to download the original Super Mario 64 on the Virtual Console either way, so go with New Super Mario Bros.

NewSMB and SM64-DS are different. It depends really. NewSMB is just like a slightly updated classic Mario game. Simple. SM64-DS is very different. More mission based. If I were you, I'd go for NewSMB. It's of cousre entirely new and the multiplayer modes are a thousand times better than on SM64-DS.

New Super Mario Bros. Easily best DS game so far.

But if possible, get both. SM64DS is something you can take anywhere unlike the downloaded version, and you get to play as 4 characters, with new levels and 30 new stars. It's quite a different experience from the original.

But if only one, pick NSMB and download SM64.

Edit- Maro and Luigi- Partners in Time isn't half bad either. Just throwing that out there.

I also have both. Where as I've played through Super Mario 64 DS, three times with 150 stars, NSMB is better. NSMB is shorter, but has better replay value. Plus, NSMB has more minigames, most need to be played with another person, but there still good.

Both are great in different ways.

New SMB is, if you ask me, the greatest platformer ever made or at least the best Nintendo one. It's wholly new, yet playing it drowns you in a wave of nostalgia so high you wouldn't believe it.

SM64DS is for those who like longer mission based adventure games as opposed to platformers. I definitely think it's better than the original SM64, plus it can go anywhere *and* lasts for a long time gameplay-wise.

New Super Mario Bros. was good, but I don't think it is the best platformer ever. It could have been better. Super Mario Bros. 3 and Donkey Kong Country 3 are the best platformers ever in my book. New Super Mario Bros. is probably in the top 10 best platformers.

I've heard/seen that Super Mario 64 DS is good, but New Super Mario Bros. look amazing, so go with that one.

If you already have Super Mario 64 then you dont need it for DS. Get NSMB like everyone else have said...

New Super Mario Bros. omigosh, it's totally amazing... I'm planning to get it very soon, but SM64DS seemed like it was boring after you totally beat the game, it seem that the novelty wore off.
