I want to start collecting the cards.. I'm the type of person who needs to have everything belonging to a particular group.. So I was thinking of starting off with collecting the black and white cards considering they are easier to get and cheaper..

Should I buy decks or booster packs?? any other tips?? and er.. if you know where to buy them in the sydney australia area other than EB that would be sweeeeet..

booster packs have more of a variety then theme decks as you might get at most 10 different cards and alot of doubles (plus side is they seem to come with booster packs now so thats good)

I buy my cards from BigW but i've seen them in target, Kmart and game/hobbie shops
go to a westfield you'll find them in one of those shopping centres most likely :)

good luck on your collecting (im slowly getting back into it and man its getting costly...but im bad with money so its a win/lose situation haha)

Just buy pack's, if you want a few cards out of the set that are in a theme deck and it's just easier to buy the theme deck.

Booster boxes are an option too. You usually get 324 - 396 cards per box, but you may no get much Pokemon ex, Lv. X, Legend, ect. in one box. Boxes Cost 'round $75.00 - $120.00 (USD) per box. Some websites offer complete sets, but those get to be pricey, around $130.00 - $300.00 (again, USD) for one set. I would recomend booster packs for nearly completed and rare sets (Base set, EX FireRed and LeafGreen, Neo Genesis), Booster boxes for sets you haven't started collecting or for sets you only have a few cards of, and complete sets for some of the common sets that aren't worth a ton (Like Diamond and Pearl or Black and White). I hope this will help you!

Hgss to col is like 4$, b/w like 6$, here mind you.

i went to eb games and the b/w boosters were $6AUD while the hgss ones were i think.. $8AUD.

i ended up buying the red frenzy and blue assault decks because there's an upcoming convention and i want to battle a few people.. also bought seven b/w boosters and got some holos and rares that im happy about :) i want to get the snivy deck too because i'm lacking in leaf pokemon... i also ordered some binder sleeves off ebay to keep them intact... got to be careful with my cards before it comes!

now to put together a deck...

if you get a booster box i'd suggest ordering it from over seas as its actually cheaper then buying it here

b&w booster box from america = about 113aud (if you get the cheapest shipping)
b&w booster box from australia = 140-160aud

the difference is if your willing to wait up to a month or 2 to get it as opposed to a week or 2

also go check out BigW they should have the B&W boosters for about $6 and the others from about $7

hope that helps :)

thanks for that :) i was going to buy them off ebay anyway because i didn't know that shops actually did sell the whole box.. i'll have to look at big W when i go near there again, but they are $6 at eb games too which is closer so that'll please me for now :)

Yes it's better to buy boxes, just make sure that you want more then half the cards in the set before buying. I'll just still to blister's and booster's, it's cheaper and I get llucky sometimes which means I don't need to buy boxes.

I would suggest to buy booster packs until you have 75% of the cards, and then stop and trade for the rest. I have spent a total of $50 (15 booster packs) and have about 95% of the set complete. :)

Well booster boxes, are just booster packs in a box. You're likely to get at least 10 copies of a few cards. IMO, you should get both Reshiram and Zekrom tins, buy about 4 or 5 more boosters, and then get the rest online as singles.

I have about 60% of the cards in B&W. Just sayin'.
