Following what Yamato-san said, chansey would slap the air over caterpie and caterpie would still suffer the damage.
Yeah, but that is going to look so weird and akward. XD

God, doesn't anyone pay attention? Hell, all of this should've been obvious ever since we saw Dialga using Stomp about a meter in front of Groudon. And yet we still have "Oh, how could they make so many animations for each Pokemon specific to every opponent?" topics being brought up. Baffling, really.
I know, I know, it would be hard to program in all that stuff for every Pokémon, but you have to admit that some of the animations are going to look really ****ed up depending on which Pokés are fighting. =P

would it be any worse than not having the attacks make contact at all? Especially in a next-gen console game that's part of a running series whose major point is to present Pokemon battles in 3D (hell, it's f***ing ridiculous we had to wait this long for it, though I am satisfied that we're at least going to have it now, most likely)?

You make a good point, but I don't really consider this game to look next-gen at all. Games like EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 (Xbox360), Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3), and even The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Gamcube & Wii versions) look way more next-gen than this new Pokémon game. Then again, those games don't have to worry about modeling 493 Pokémon, including all the varieties of Unown, four different versions of Deoxys (unless they use the normal form for all of them like in Colosseum), male and female Pokés, and all the recolors for shinys and Aruseus forms. Then there's the trainer models, attack effects, animations, backgrounds, and fancy lighting effects to worry about. In the end, PBR's visuals will be more about "quantity" than "quality". The game won't look terrible, but it won't really look next-gen either. =P

The only way that this game will "wow" me is if they give Meowth's model a 3D mouth (like his trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee and the Meowth reporter in Pokémon Channel) instead of a texture for a mouth (like in all the other 3D Pokémon games). ;)

One word: unbelievable. Everything's cool EXCEPT Groudon's physical attack who didn't touch.

No that's obviously an announcer. He speaks after every attack.

On another note, I love the music.

It's just the guy doing the commercial (rolls eyes)
Although I do miss the announcer, w/ his constant mispronunciation of Ekans' name (Eekans)
