hey guys,i am just here to help all the newbies with breeding in pokemon emerald(it is possible to do in the other games but it is extremely hard). http://www.serebii.net/games/breed.shtml that is the link to the breeding homepage on serebii. Breeding is very importatnt to be a good pokemon trainer. By breeding, you are able to get pokemon with good ivs(individual values). Those with emerald are able to pass natures(the things like jolly etc that determine what stat has a 10% increase in certain stat and what stat has a 10% decrease) with the aid of the everstone. ps you must make the mother hold the everstone to pass down nature of mother. Tms can also be bread down from the father. These things are explained on the above link. What i want to explain is chain breeding for ivs. First,it is not too hard ,but time consuming. First up you may have noticed that some pokemon have different stats even if they are at the same level and same pokemon. THis is explained in the following link at serebii: http://www.serebii.net/games/ivs.shtml . Now breeding for ivs is essential to get high iv pokmon(25 and above). I am assuming you have read the links so you have an idea of what i am talking bout. First, you must have a male and female of the same egg group. Breed them and if you are playing emerald, you can pass down natures (eg if you want your salamence to be a special sweeper you would want to pass it down a nature like mild) so if you have a ditto with a mild nature or a female pokemon of the salamence line with the mild nature, give it an everstone to hold. You will notice that 50 percent of the time the hatched eggs will have that nature. If you dont have a pokemon of the required nature, just breed until you get one.(also if you have emerald, you can hatch eggs in about half the time with a slugma or a pokemo n with a flame body or magma armor nature). Now what you do is,you take that pokemon with the required nature and breed with a ditto. Hatch about 4 eggs, and you should have a male with the requiered nature and a female with the required nature. Now put them in the daycare and give the female the everstone and continue to breed. Hatch about 10 to 15 off the eggs, and pick the ones with the required nature. From there, look at their stats. YOu can kinda predict the ivs if you look at their stats and compare them. If you notice that you have 2 heracrosses with the same nature,(eg adamant which raises attack)and you notice one has higher attack than the other, that pokemon has higher ivs. In emerald, after you beat the game, you have the oppurtunity to go to the battle frontier and a man in a house close to the pokemon centre tells you basic phrases about the ivs, such as "this pokemon has average ivs" which means this pokemon is pretty inept at ivs. If you get a statement like "it is quite impressive in abilty"then it is a pretty good pokemon. Further more,he gives what is his best stat, like attack etc. IF he says that your pokemon has outstanding attack,it has high ivs,if he says it has flawless ability,it has maximum ivs in that stat. Now with your super parents, breed them, and follow the previously mentioned actions. Do this and continue to show the newly breed pokemon with the right nature to the iv man(in emerald). you may have to breed about 80 eggs,or about 5 generations before you get great pokemon. IF the iv man says your pokemon is wonderfully outstanding in ability, know that that pokemon is extremely good. Well guys, this has been a long post, and i am not sure you even understand what i said, but i tried, and i hope you pick up some tips. Please post if you want some clarification. I hope they dont delete this thread...

Onions? Where??
yeah, i bred a perfect ralts a while ago, it took something like 60 eggs

modest nature, wonderfully outstanding in ability, flawless sp.atk, sp.dfn and hp, boy unfortunately, erureido would be better with adamant nature, but now I have perfocet gardevoir with good evs also

well done on the guide but most of that information is in the sticky on breeding :). I am currently trying for a bagon flawless attack and speed but luckily i have a flawless speed ditto which are very hard to find as you cant breed dittos for perfection you have to catch them. When DP comes out in america/australia i will probably trade it to a breeder for a celebi/mew/deoxys/jirachi/ho-oh/lugia :D

There's no way I will be reading that wall of text.
For God's sake, please, rewrite it in a legible way. There are no paragraphs, punctuation is aweful... not to mention all the typos.

thanks i always needed a good explanation of Iv breeding and this is a very good one

sorry for the lack of organization but i dont really think you need this part unless you have severe difficulty in acquiring natures/calculating ivs
i dont even know if people are still reading this thread, but for those that still are, here is a tip(i forgot to put it into the guide):newbies, dont use your masterball nor your rarecandy until you reach the battle frontier. Gosh,i cant believe im saying it,but...CLONING IS YOUR BEST FRIEND AT THIS MOMENT. I assume you look around to know how to clone,GO CHECK IT. Cloning is a major glitch, and i dont really support it,but it kinda makes iv breeding easier. Check this, clone masterballs until you have about 100 or so. Then clone about 120 rare candies. Now,do you remember where the fossil hunter is? It is at the side of fallabor town,so go in the tunnel and have your BALLS. Now a new place should be open in there. There are dittos like sperm. Save and here is the tricky part:do you see how there are 30 different natures, and how you can pass down natures from ditto? Go and catch a ditto for each nature. This is time consuming but worthwhile(use the freaking masterball if you havent figured it out by now).

At this point, leave 5 boxes(it dosent really matter but that is what i did). Label 4 breeding, and 1 for ditto. This is to organize your pokemon better. Now follow the first post(the guide/post that i put up) and breed. To organize the generations so you dont get confused, put the generations in their respective boxes. When you think you have a good pokemon, follow the part in the guide that says that you should go to the iv man etc. Serebii.net has an iv calculator( http://www.serebii.net/games/iv-calc.shtml ). Save your game before you do anything to the pokemon your trying to raise. Use your rare candies to level up your pokemon to lv 50-70. Make sure it hasnt battled any pokemon yet. In the iv calculator, input the required stats, and a basically accurate account of the ivs should be displayed. Look guys,my language is failing me at this point, and i really could have done a better job at organizing this, but im trying because no one helped me when i started breeding. IF you are confused, forget about this part because it really isnt important but i posted it in case you had difficulty acquiring the natures you want.

i don't lose
you can actually use metal kid's IV calculator to get the best results in calculating your IVs. if you start at level 5 and use rare candies up to level 20, it will have most of the IVs within one or two, if not completely done. So far, only my Elekid has needed to go higher than 25 to get the exact IV.

what i do is this, using the IV calculator, i find out what stat is required for a flawless (31) IV. say for mareep, 22 is required for a flawless hit points stat. so once i hatch a mareep with 22 hp, i fly to master breeder and make sure he has the flawless hit points. then i give him a few rare candies to see how the other IVs are, and proceed to breed for the next stat. say special attack is my next desired stat, for that stat to be flawless, it needs 13 for a neutral nature, and 14 for a boosting nature (since i was going for modest i needed 14 for the special attack stat). now i bred the modest ditto with the mareep that had flawless hit points and waited for a baby that had a 22 in hit points and a 14 in special attack, talked to the breeder to make sure and bam. since a baby can inherit 3 IVs from its parents, you can also go for a third stat in this way.

you may also duplicate TMs, so chainbreeding for attacks is hardly as neccessary as it once was. i really just breed for natures/ivs since i have all of the TMs cloned.

IV Calculator Using Hidden Power?

Wasn't there an IV Calculator that could get accurate IVs by inputing the hidden power of the Pokemon?

MetalKid's IV calculator could almost always get 100% accurate IVs before level 20, provided you provide the stat gains for each level, and the HP type.

Please don't post in threads that are over 1 month old. There's an entire EVs/IVs sticky that you could have asked this in.
