Newbie-with-macrons saying hi!

Um, hello. I'm not exactly entirely new to Serebii, I was around about three years ago briefly, and recently I've been a stalker. Only a few weeks ago I started getting out all my ancient Poké games, so I thought it'd only be natural to lurk around here and argue about shiny-encounter rates and IV stats. Yay! My favourite Poké games are (or, well, were) Pokémon Snap as well as Gold and Silver. I'm quite obsessed with shinies, I once went through a patch where I hatched ten boxes of Vulpix eggs and wandered around the long grass for well over five months. I think I cried when I finally encountered a shiny: it was a freakin' Shuppet.

Apart from Pokémon, I'm a recovering *emotes* addict, so please watch me. I'm also a former fanfiction connoisseur who, thanks to Godawful Fanfiction Forums, saw the light. I used to be hopelessly addicted to Weiss Kreuz and Zelda fanfic, but now I've got myself under control once again, and I don't inflict it on innocent people.

I adore other languages, I learn Latin, French, Italian and Ancient Greek (Attic, if you're interested in that type-o-thing) at school, fractured pieces of Japanese make me sad. Sad, I say. As for other hobbies, I like feeling superior, reading, and trying not to click my retainer so much. It's disgusting. I also do athletics with a club and at school, I sprint (100, 200 and sometimes 400, if I'm feeling particularly suicidal.)

Hmm, something else interesting to say. I also love Rare/Nintendo games, my all-time favourites are still Banjo, DKC2 and Conker's BFD. I also love Scrubs, Futurama, and my adorable boyfriend. Oh, and, er, my name means 'huntress' in Latin. Not my real one. This one. Damn, wish my real one did. So there you go, you know something about the-newbie-with-macrons. Nice to meet you all! :)

Hi. Welcome back. You seem really cool. I, too, love other languages. I love Latin, Italian, and ancient Greek, as well.

And...I also LOVE Rare/Nintendo games. Banjo series > all.

On top of that, you're an intelligent member. ;_;

PM me if you want a friend. :)

Wow, that's one of the greatest introductions I've read.

Anyways, salutations to the forums, and like you, I have a penchant for languages as well, my strongest one aside from English being German, but I show a strong tendency towards more off-the-wall ones, especially Finnish. It's certainly a tough language coming from an Indo-European background, but I'm getting some good people to help me through it. :)

I also have an interest in learning Arabic and Russian, but even if I won't get around to learning them, other languages such as Navajo, Thai, and pretty much the whole Uralic family of languages nonetheless pique my interest.

Having been at these forums before, I trust you know about reading and the rules/the User CP/etc., so I won't bore you with that.

But hey, it's great to see an intelligent and versed member here, and I trust that you'll enjoy your stay here. :D

I like your name, and I like the description that you gave us of you. I love to learn languages, as well as make my very own simple ones.

It seems you already read the rules, and understand them, so there's no point in telling you to read them again.

The only advice I can tell you is to preview your post before you actually post it. This saves you the "embaressment" of being wrong, or misunderstood.

PM me, if you need anything. I'm always happy to give you correct information.

Yay, I feel welcome already! (You have no idea how hard it was for me just then to avoid the sentence "-into the bosom of Serebii". Tee hee. "Bosom".)

Zomg, Finnish! I find that branch very interesting myself, I actually really want to learn Swedish, as well, or Norwegian. Hey, anything with umlauts is good. Good luck if you pick up Arabic or Russian: personally, different alphabets are a nightmare for me. They're so flashy to write in, though, I love it. :D

Thanks everyone, I look forward to posting, and/or lurking around doing nothing much in particular!

Swedish is also an interest of mine. Although, I am still desperately trying to find someone who can speak fluently and teach me. I can also speak, somewhat, fluent français. That's basically the only language the school I attend offers, apart from Russian, which you sadly need a background for, and I do not.

If you ever need anything, or would like to be friends, please, PM me! [/demanding]

Finnish is quite distinct from Swedish and Norwegian, I can assure you of that. It bears a closer resemblance to Hungarian than it does to those Germanic languages. :(

Anyways, I have a fair grasp on the Cyrillic alphabet as it is used for Russian, so knowing that should place me a step further when I set off to learn it. Arabic, on the other hand...gosh, that'll be a doozy.

Your school only offers two languages? That's really irritating, I'd go nuts, myself. The last school I went to didn't offer many, either, luckily though, in my state there's a School of Languages, which has distance courses on just about everything (I'd love to get cracking on Swedish that way, but heheh, sort of got my hands full.) At least you have French, though, it sounds so pretty spoken. <3

Oh, and I didn't know that, Eszett! I knew about the Hungarian/Finnish, but I thought it was similar to Norwegian. Thanks.

Ah, and if either of you guys are interested in hearing Can You Feel the Love Tonight sung in Hungarian (And French, German and Norwegian, too, for that matter), you know who to badger for mp3s! ;D

Wow. So many languages. ;-; I'm just trying to learn Gaelic (Irish).

Whee-hoo. Another intelligent member. Need to balance things out.

If you are looking for a friend who is also a fanfic addict, PM me. *insane laughter* I'm always here. Stalker me! XP

Have fun! *salutes*

Speaking of which, I have a bunch of MP3s of the DuckTales theme song in other languages, including ones in Hebrew and Czech.

Lemono, I thought having the typical Spanish/French/German/Latin arrangement was pretty bad myself, but having Russian offered to you but only with an extra snag attached? That's just deplorable. :( At least you have some choice of language besides those oft-found four, not to mention the general attitude towards learning languages in the United States is hesitant at best.

Vēnētrix, a school of languages? Get out! I would spend all of my spare hours whiling away within the halls of such an institution. Hmm, which languages do they offer? I'm quite delighted to see that there are such facilities in the world. :D

Hehe, and no problem about that, Vēnētrix. ;D

I wish I still took French distance, so I could browse around more with my password. :(

I can't help but think it would be pretty hard learning some of the more difficult languages (Well, for English-speakers) like Chinese or Greek through distance, though. I took distance French, and it was really hard understanding the guy over the phone. You don't notice how much you look at the lips!

Good luck with Gaelic, Hanako! :)

Yah, it's not very .. um .. fun. =P

It's really a boring thing really, French, that is, so I'll have to completely agree on your opinion there, Eszett. ;D

Welcome back. :) My school has Latin, Spanish, French, Italian, and English.

Welcome back, I s'pose, to SPPf, which I presume you already know what the acronyms stand for, and as if you haven't gotten enough warm greetings already.

Nonetheless, welcome back and stuff. Enjoy your stay lurking the forums and site.. and yeah, we don't bite. Hard anyway.

Ye gods! Noteworthy newbie alert; sound the alarms! Well, kinda. You said yourself that you're not really new. Nice introductory post, regardless. I'm impressed, and now I feel obligated to respond to it... o_o

I'd recount my own experience with foreign languages, but it's rather pathetic, if I do say so myself. Still, I hope you enjoy whatever you plan on doing here. Have fun!
