OK, this is newbish, but what the heck is BoltBeam??? I've been able to figure all the other stuff out like Subpunching and Endurreving, but what is BoltBeam?
thanx

Thunderbolt and Ice Beam.

They are used in a combo. Only 2 pokemon resist it and one pokemon is immune to it.

Magneton and Lanturn resist it and Shedinja is immune to it.

Psuedo boltbeam is Ice Punch-Thunderbolt or Thunderpunch-Ice Beam or Ice Punch-Thunderpunch, etc.

OK, thanks. So when you guys say something about BoltBeam resistence, you mean stuff that resists both Electric and Ice. Thanks!

Not really, as no one is gonna have a lanturn all the time.

Snorlax, regice, blissey, and other special sponges may not always resist both thunderbolt and ice beam but they can sponge them really well with their high special defense and/or hp.

This is why thunderbolt and Ice beam are the two most common special attcking moves. Plenty of Pokemon learn it. If you ever have a Pokemon but you cannot decide what to teach it, give it boltbeam (if can learn it and it has high special sweeping stats).

There are also other moves that work like this in a pair. such as Ice beam and Earthquake (Claydol, Piloswine, etc.), Dragon Claw and Flamethrower (Charizard, Dragonite), etc...

And the ever-popular Earthquake+Rock Slide.

It also helps that a ton of Pokémon get BoltBeam or some pseudo-variant of it. Dragonthrower is a pretty good combo, as nothing totally resists it. But it's pretty hard to get a Pokémon that gets both of those moves, and even then, Dragon Claw is pretty pointless without STAB, and you only have on SE(Super Effective hit) with it.
