Nintendo is planning to launch a new DS handheld games system next year, according to US blog Kotaku.

The story, which claims the DS successor will feature two touch-sensitive screens, said the device would not be offically announced until after Christmas.

The DS is still selling well in the US and Europe, but sales of the handheld have fallen in Japan during the three months to June this year.

According to the NPD Group, as of June 30, 2008 sales of the DS topped 20 million in the US.

i dont really understand why you need two touch screens but this seems cool.

Yeah, if there was going to be a new handheld from Nintendo, don't you think we would've heard more than a minor article?

Yeah, but details always are gonna start small, were you expecting a full article on something that is not even confirmed by the manufacturer.

I would expect something from the manufacturer first. Besides, they're already selling the DSi in Japan since sales dropped.

Did you people even bother looking at the date that article was made?

That was two months before the DSi was announced.
